Friday 2nd February Wednesday Word – PRAYER Twitter - @saintoswalds THIS WEEK – During our Come and See sessions we have completed our end of topic celebration and responded to what we have learned. Within Literacy, we listened to the story – Rockpool Rap and have written sentences to describe Clive the clam. In Maths, we have been naming and sorting 3D shapes. During the afternoon sessions, we have been creating our own representation of the sea. During our phonics sessions we have focussed on Mrs Gill’s and Mrs Hart’s group – zz, qu and the words he, me, be, we, she and see. Miss Woolley’s group – j and v, and have will go over I, go, not, to, the, as, at am and introduce into Mrs Ryan’s and Mrs Riding’s groups – zz, qu and the words he, me, be, we, she and see. NEXT WEEK– During our Come and See sessions we will starting our new topic GATHERING. Within Literacy, we will be using the story The Smiley Shark and writing sentences about the story. In Maths, we will be naming and describing 3D shapes using the language of face, edges and vertices. During the afternoon sessions, we will be creating moving pictures related to the story we have read in literacy. We will also be working with the children to get some ideas for our Mother’s day assembly During our phonics sessions we will be focussing on Mrs Gill’s and Mrs Hart’s group – sh, ch and the word was recapping he, me, be, we, she and see. Miss Woolley’s group – w and x, and will go over previously learned words and introduce he and be Mrs Ryan’s and Mrs Riding’s groups – sh, ch and the word was recapping he, me, be, we, she and see. WEEKLY CHALLENGE – Thank you for the handwriting homework. This week we are asking the children to complete another handwriting sheet. Ensure that the children are starting the letters in the correct place and are sitting the letters on the line. INSPIRE SESSIONS FOR THE SPRING TERM – We will be holding two more INSPIRE session over this term where you will be able to come into school and work with your child on a variety of different activities. We hope that you or a representative can attend these sessions. Writing Inspire – Thursday 8th February – Class 1G 9am – 11.20am Class 1K – 1.10pm -3.30pm Understanding the World Inspire – Thursday 15th March – Class 1G 9am – 11.20am Class 1K – 1.10pm -3.30pm
PARENT INTERVIEWS – We will be holding our Parent Interviews on Monday 12th February. You will have the opportunity to come and meet with the teacher and talk about your child’s progress and behaviour. You will be able to choose from a block of times which are convenient to yourselves. The blocks will be between 1.15-3.20, 3.45pm – 4.45pm, 4.40pm – 5.40pm or 5.45pm – 6.15pm. We will be sending home a letter regarding these time slots on Monday which will need to be returned by Wednesday 7th February. You will then be given a 5 minute slot within these times. Your child’s Learning journey file will be coming home on Friday 9th February with your child’s interim report and attendance report inside. You will also have the opportunity to fill in a parent and child voice sheet along with any WOW moments/observations that you have made on your child. It is important that you fill in these sheets as they also contribute to your child’s overall profile achievement at the end of the year.
