Catch Up Premium What is The Catch Up Premium? The Catch Up Premium is government funding delegated to secondary schools to ensure that all children who did not achieve 'secondary ready' levels at the end of primary school can catch up during year 7. The government gives this funding to support intervention in reading or maths for students who do not reach the expected standard at the end of Key Stage 2 in either reading and/or maths. How much Catch Up Premium money does our school receive? The total sum for the period September 2016 to August 2017 was £17,482 The anticipated sum for the period September 2017 – August 2018 is expected to be £14,684 How is the money spent and what is the impact? 2016 - 17 85 students qualified for Catch Up Premium for reading and 78 students qualified for Catch Up Premium for maths and of these 49 students qualified for both. The catch up premium was been used to support the funding of the following: • • • • •

SEND provision 1:1 intervention sessions Literacy and numeracy lessons Accelerated Reader scheme used in buddy reading programme Rewards for Year 7 students attending Key Stage 3 Interventions

Impact: Cycle 4 2017 English – 13 CUP Reading students were above; 45 were on track; 23 were below and 2 were cause for concern. Cycle 4 2017 Maths – 1 CUP Maths student was above; 10 were on track; 32 were below and 31 were cause for concern. 2017 – 18 57 students qualify for Catch Up Premium for reading and 45 students qualify for Catch Up Premium for maths and of these 27 students qualify for both. SEND provision (Reading and Maths) (£2000 for resourcing and an additional salary contribution) Bedrock Vocabulary (Reading) (£3.99 per student) Literacy Lesson resourcing (Reading) (£500) Library stock and resources (Reading) (£500) Library opening after school for homework and AR Club targeted at CUP students (Reading and Maths) (£1500 – salary + £200 sundries) Sound training (Reading) (£3100) Catch-Up Numeracy (Maths) (£130 per student) – to be decided following cycle 2 Every Child Counts (Maths) (quotation pending) – to be decided following cycle 2 Rewards for intervention groups (Reading and Maths) (£500) Parental contact and support materials for home learning (Reading and Maths) (£500)
