Poland Trip 2018 The Holocaust was one of the worst atrocities ever committed by humankind. 6 million Jewish people lost their lives at the hands of the Nazis and over three million other minorities also perished in concentration camps like the one at Auschwitz. Most GCSE History students study the Nazi period in depth, so this trip will help to understand the Holocaust and put the people, places and events into context.

We also have a responsibility to ensure that the Holocaust is never forgotten so Mayfield School are going to visit Auschwitz and other sites to help ensure we remember the lessons learnt from the past.

Poland Trip 2018 When?

28th – 30th September 2018 3 days, 2 nights How much? £575 including accommodation, flights and coach travel, food, travel insurance and entrance fees. This is paid in instalments through the year.

What we will do?

We will visit Auschwitz concentration camp, a wartime ghetto, Schindler’s Museum, Galicia Jewish Museum and we will be meeting with a survivor (or relative) of the Holocaust as well as visiting the famous salt mines, enjoying an evening of bowling and visiting Krakow market.

Can I go on the trip?

The trip is open to current year 8, 9 and 10 students who will be studying History or RE (option- year 11 only) next academic year. Your behaviour must also be good.

How do I apply?

See your History teacher for a letter. It is run on a first come, first served basis.
