Friday 26th January Wednesday Word – TEACHER Twitter - @saintoswalds THIS WEEK – During our Come and See sessions we have listened to the story of The Visit to the Temple. Within Literacy, we listened to and worked with the story - The fish who could wish and have then written sentences related to the story within our heads down activity. The children have been writing about what they would wish for. In Maths, we completed our Post learning task on 2D shape By naming and describing 2D shapes using sides and vertices. The children have also completed their Pre-learning task on 3D shapes. During the afternoon sessions, we found out about the environment in which the sea creatures live and using this knowledge to work with their group to create a 3D underwater seascape. During our phonics sessions we have focussed on Mrs Gill’s and Mrs Hart’s group – y, z, and the words he, me, be, we, she. Miss Woolley’s group – b, and have will go over I, go, not, to, the, as and introduce at Mrs Ryan’s and Mrs Riding’s groups – y, z, and the words he, me, be, we, she. NEXT WEEK– During our Come and See sessions we will be completing our end of topic celebration and responding to what we have learned. Within Literacy, we will be using the story of – Rockpool Rap and then writing sentences to describe Clive the clam. In Maths, we will be naming and sorting 3D shapes. During the afternoon sessions, we will be looking at art related to the sea and creating our own representation of the sea. During our phonics sessions we will be focussing on Mrs Gills and Mrs Harts group – zz, qu and the words he, me, be, we, she and see. Miss Woolley’s group – h, and have will go over I, go, not, to, the, as, at and introduce am Mrs Ryan and Mrs Ridings groups – zz, qu and the words he, me, be, we, she and see. WEEKLY CHALLENGE – Thank you for the handwriting homework. This week we are asking the children to complete another handwriting sheet. Ensure that the children are starting the letters in the correct place and are sitting the letters on the line. TEMPEST PHOTOGRAPHER – Please remember that the Tempest photographer will be coming into school on Monday 29th January to take a group photograph of the two reception classes together. Please ensure that your child comes into to school with the correct uniform for this day. INSPIRE SESSIONS FOR THE SPRING TERM – We will be holding two more INSPIRE session over this term where you will be able to come into school and work with your child on a variety of different activities. We hope that you or a representative can attend these sessions.
