New Arrangements for Fasting: Children who are fasting must now be collected from the school office at 12.15pm.

Homework Mr Heseldon runs a drop in homework club on Monday and Tuesday lunchtimes for children who would like some help with their work.

Even though the SAT’s are over please still check your child’s journal regularly for updates and messages and ensure that any homework is completed on time and to a high standard.

Curriculum Overview Year 6: Mrs Spokes, Mr Heseldon and Mrs Pinder Summer Term 2

Creative Curriculum: Maths: TRANSITION

English: Throughout this half term we will be using our new class text- Macbeth, to explore and write across a range of genres. We will use the theme of Macbeth to write our own stories in a similar style including creating comic strips, play scripts and exploring the language of Shakesperian times. We will also be working with Nicole to prepare our end of year presentation.

We are exploring the history of Blues music and exploring a range of instruments such as drums, guitar piano and our voices.

We are also composing a song for the opening ceremony of the Olympics in Rio, Brazil.

    

Each week we will work through the Job Junction programme We will celebrate the Queen’s 90th birthday with a garden party on Friday 10th June.

Common Transition Day for Pendle Vale and Marsden Heights is 22nd June (for all other schools please refer to their websites) We will support Race for Life on Friday 24th June.

Work has started on our end of year performance on Monday 25th July.

Building Bridges will work with us to help prepare us for our transition to secondary school.

Sports Day will take place on Monday 11th July Summer Fayre – Wednesday 13th July Year 6 Leavers Meal – Thursday 21st July

This term we will be using ‘The Job Junction’ which will prepare us for using maths in everyday life. We will be visited by professionals from different employment to help us achieve this. We will also continue to apply maths across a range of settings, while completing our ‘Brazilian Holiday’ planning.

Science: In science this term we will be looking at the main parts of the human circulatory system and describe the function of the heart, blood vessels and blood.

We will also explore how water and nutrients are transported within the body.

Computing: We will be looking at animation and will create our own animations. We will continue to use a range of ICT to support learning, including the use of the Ipads.
