The Election of House Captains at Grove Primary School
The House System has now been in place at Grove for a year and on Friday 10 th June, pupils took to the Polling Station to elect their House Captains for next year. It is planned that the newly-appointed recruits will be working alongside their predecessors until they officially take up their position in September. The afternoon started with pupils being given a Poll Card which had been generated from the Formal Electoral Register before making their way to their respective Houses to listen to Year 5 Election Speeches.
Then, pupils from Reception to Year 6 gave their Poll Card to their House Captains who handed them their Voting Paper and directed them to the Voting Booth where they put a cross next to the candidate of their choice.
Pupils’ Feedback “I enjoyed the process of becoming a House Captain because we practised our speeches a lot which was a good experience for me. We also had a chat with the existing House Captains who gave us good advice – Joshua “the speeches were clear and long and the candidates knew what they were doing – Farren “I was so nervous when I went to the front to share my speech. I was shaking like life was leaving me” - Katie “Once I had done my speech, I wondered why I was so afraid to speak in front of everyone!” – Olivia “I enjoyed listening to the House Captains’ speeches because it told us a lot about themselves and their personalities” - Lily “I thought that Caitlin from Fern was very brave because she is shy and pushed herself to speak in front of everybody” – Isabel “I voted for my friend Josh because he did really well and he tried his best. I hope he wins” – Codie “I enjoyed the voting process and it was fun to vote for the Captain I wanted” – Cole “It was really hard to choose who to vote for as all the speeches were so great” – Charlie “If I get picked, it will help me with my career in football” – Noah
