Year 6 - Summer 2
Context – What do we Know? We know the main features of a range of genre and we can apply all our knowledge of Year 6 expectations. Maths During this half term, the children will be developing reasoning and problem solving. We will also be securing our knowledge of place value and all of the four operations.
Starting point – Hook and Wow! Trip to the Zoo
English Following a trip to the Zoo, we will be writing discussion texts on whether animals should be used for entertainment. We will also be looking at play scripts and performance work.
Art and Design Technology The children will be designing a stage set, costumes and props for their end of year production. PSHE
The children will be working hard this half term to create an end of year production of
“The Wizard Of Oz”
We will be continuing with our values scheme and learning about co-operations and team work as we put together our production. We will also be looking at ‘moving on’ as the children visit their high schools for the first time Computing Throughout this half term, the children will be looking at programming skills and being able to confidently use Scratch.
Writing Opportunities Discussion text – based on the zoo Descriptive narrative – based on a picture stimulus. ‘Moving on’ - writing about our feelings about our next journey to Secondary School.
Business & Enterprise The Dyskoteka team will be preparing to launch their second disco.
How can I support my child at home? Please help your children learn their parts for the productions and continue to read with them at home in preparation for high school.
