Annual Statement of Governance at Revoe Learning Academy and Children’s Centre June 2015 Governance at Revoe Learning Academy and Children’s Centre Our role as Governors is to:“Conduct the school with a view to promoting high standards of educational achievement.” As a Governing Body, we feel that Everyone Matters at RLA and Children’s Centre. We want everyone to flourish, to grow and be well prepared for their future. Our core purpose is to inspire, expect and ensure exceptional standards, school improvement and service by: 1) Ensuring clarity of vision, ethos and strategic direction; 2) Holding the Headteacher to account for the educational performance of the Academy and its’ pupils, and the performance management of staff; 3) Overseeing the financial performance of the school, and making sure its money well spent. During our first academic year, Governors at Revoe Learning Academy have worked hard with our Senior Leadership team to ensure improved outcomes and better value for money. At our recent Strategic Planning Day, we reviewed our core values: Respect; Learn; and Achieve. From this, we set out our vision: RLA will deliver exceptional service; and, identified the key behaviours we expect from all of our Governors, staff, children, parents, families and partners to move our values into action. We believe that as everyone takes ownership, responsibility and accountability for these behaviours, we will deliver exceptional service. Our values, RESPECT, LEARN, ACHIEVE, remind us to put the children whom we serve at the heart of all that we do. As Governors and learners ourselves, we seek to bring together the best practice from the Academies within the Blackpool Multi Academy Trust, and beyond. This will ensure that we celebrate and share best practice; respect and understand all of our differences; but, challenge ourselves and continue to learn from each other. We believe that each of our academies is, and should be, distinctive – each is committed to developing its own strengths and identity while sharing the core values of our Academies, which promote service, compassion and generosity. Our behavioural statements at RLA are designed to bring our vision to life:
