Here are some ways you can help. Try to create a relaxed reading atmosphere. Have a regular time and place to read and ensure the surroundings are as calm as possible. If your child doesn’t feel like reading, offer to read to them instead. Be positive about reading!

95.4% for whole school attendance The minimum acceptable attendance is 96%. Please ensure your children are in school every day and on time. School starts at 8.55am.
Badgers and Roman Artefacts Badgers class were very lucky this week. Mrs Firth's friend is an archaeologist and she has given Bishop Martin some real Roman artefacts. We were the first class to be able to study them and we found them fascinating. Some of us didn't realise the Romans were real until we touched pottery pieces, bone and a coin that they had left behind!
Children don’t have to read with you. It can be very motivating for them to read with other children in the family, grandparents or friends. Talk to your child about the books they are reading. Before reading, challenge your child to be a ‘book detective’: look at the book cover and see if they can guess what the book will be about or what type of book it is. As you read together, talk about what is happening in the book, what might happen next, and anything that has puzzled them. When your child finishes a book, ask them whether they liked it or not and why. More tips to follow……
2016 - Y6 Residential Trip If your child is in Y6 this September there is a chance for them to go on a 3 day residential outward bound trip to Todmorden. All the information has been sent out last term. If you wish your child to attend the trip please complete the consent form and pass to the office with the deposit as soon as possible.
