Often pupils in year six are visited by the local MP. In recent times Julie Hilling, the former labour whip, came to talk to the children about parliament and how democracy works.

Fort Alice helped children to understand, through role-play that all actions have consequences; leading to a courtroom scene, in which all children were given a role: judge, jury, security, defendant, prosecution etc. Children developed an understanding of the importance of upholding the law.

During SMSC, children learnt to recognise that moral behaviour is dependent on many factors, including laws and rules.

In year 6 pupils have the opportunity to go on a school residential. The trip to North Wales reflects ability to have freedom to travel and experience with the Different Faiths and Beliefs other environments. It also allows children to make some individual choices e.g. room sharing etc.

There is the opportunity to visit WINTERWATCH in Bolton Town Centre. This is a facility which enables everyone who needs assistance to have access to food and shelter. Children gain insight to the challenges life may bring them as they progress into adulthood.

Fort Alice reinforces the message of individual liberty; the (FA) refuge is directly aimed at women and children affected by domestic abuse. Children may have seen domestic violence, through visits from (FA) they feel reassured that there are people who help, and that they as individuals can provide a voice.

Year 6 pupils study a variety of faiths including Islam, Christianity and Hinduism. They are taught to have respect for the beliefs of others. Parents may be into school to share their knowledge of with invited Different Beliefs particular faith-Faiths ensuringand a clearer understanding of the beliefs of others.

Fort Alice have helped children to understand the importance of mutual respect in relationships by teaching them the purpose of Fort Alice, the importance of caring for one another, tan understanding of domestic abuse and who it affects, to identify abusive behaviours and non-abusive behaviours, and where to get help.
