Lomeshaye Life This week our newsletter is dedicated to sharing some fantastic news with you all about a wonderful achievement for our school. Read on to find out more... As you know Lomeshaye Junior School prides itself on high standards. Over recent years the school has worked hard to improve pupil outcomes in Reading, Writing and Mathematics and has been recognised as being one of the highest performing schools in the country. None of the schools achievements to date have been an accident, they have come about due to the hard work, dedication and commitment of a fantastic team of staff who are passionate about the education of the pupils at Lomeshaye. This year we have been working hard to further develop the exciting curriculum that is offered to pupils at our school by improving our work with the “arts”, this includes drama, dance, art, design and music. To help us with these efforts we have continued to work with creative partners and have employed our own specialist music teacher, Miss Marshall, to teacher the music curriculum to every child in school. In November 2015 the school was visited by the Lancashire Music Service as part of their monitoring across the Local Authority, during the visit our Music curriculum, teaching and resources were audited and the plans that we have for teaching music at Lomeshaye were discussed. At the end of the visit the Music Service staff were so impressed by what they saw and heard that they decided to nominate the school for a very prestigious award. This award is called the Music Mark. We have received this award due to the value that we place on music and our commitment to excellent music education. This award is endorsed by the Association of the Royal Schools of Music and is testament to the fantastic, all round education that pupils at Lomeshaye Junior School now receive. As a school we are very proud of our academic results, awards and achievements and we hope that as parent’s you recognise the fantastic work that happens in school and how the school and the staff are changing and developing to offer an even higher quality, broad and balanced education than ever before. Have a lovely Easter weekend and enjoy the bank holidays on Friday and Monday. We look forward to seeing you in school on Tuesday 29th March.
