I hope you have had a good Easter break as we have a busy term ahead of us! Our Year 6 children gave up some of their precious holiday to join us for an Easter school to help them prepare for their SAT tests in May. The Reydon 5R learning behaviours were evident throughout the two mornings so well done, Year 6!

I am also pleased to announce that the final amount raised for our Sport Relief sponsored mile was ÂŁ2062.22 which is an incredible amount. Thank you to all the members of our community who supported this event. Our next fundraising event is Purple Day next Friday 22nd where children are invited to wear non-uniform with something purple and to bring a donation for Cancer Research.

As part of our Spring Clean, we will be disposing of some of the lost property next week which is unnamed and unclaimed. Please come to the office if you would like to sort through it first.

500 Word Story Competition Winners Each week we will be printing one of the 500 word competition winners’ stories. This week it is Daisy in Year 3 with her story Fish Finds a Home. I am pleased to announce that this story has been successful and it is now at the second stage of judging in the Radio 2 competition, in a field of 4,500 entries rather than 124,000 original entries. We wait with baited breath!

Fish Finds a Home

It was just another boring day in my fish tank, swimming around aimlessly with the other fish. All of us were hoping that we would get an owner today.

When they had opened the big shop of pets I saw a family of four and a baby walking calmly into the shop not making a single sound. When I saw they were walking this way I wished in my little head it would be my lucky day and I would be the chosen one. When they got there I saw a big, kind face looking at me in my tiny eyes. Then I vaguely heard her say, “Please may I have that one there looking at me?” “Yes.” said her mum politely. But then they were talking about names but I don’t know what they are, but they’re not important right now. I was swimming around excited with glee.

THE NET! Now the net came in. I was so wriggly at that moment in time so I wriggled into the net instead of swimming! When they put me into the bag I was sad and happy at the same time. Then they carefully carried me outside in the bag of water, it was amazing outside – even better than inside. Then they put me in something called a car it was fun!

NEW HOME! When we got out of the car I could see our new house it was tall and large and also fancy, it’s like a dream come true I thought in my little brain as we opened a door to my new home with a golden, sparkly, shiny key. As soon as we got in the house I could already see my big fish tank. It looked so beautiful, even prettier than my old one! Then all of a sudden they put the bag in so I could settle in a little bit. They left me in for 15 minutes. But suddenly they snipped the corner of the bag and … plop… in I went along with the water. But now I know what names are and they called me Bubbles.

Often our teachers use this precious time in the morning to prepare resources and/or meet with other staff and we are therefore not in a position to supervise your children’s safety until 8.40am. Thanks for your support.

Car Boot Sale I am sure you will have received the letters regarding the Car Boot Sale being organised by the Friends on Sunday May 22nd from 12pm until 3pm. Pitches are £5 for a car and £10 for a van and set up on the field will begin at 11am. There will be an entry fee for adults of 50p and children will be free. We look forward to seeing lots of our families and friends at this community event and funds raised are being dedicated to the school library.

I really liked it because I blow bubbles! At night time they switched it to night mode it was blue and it was time for me to explore my new tank. On the right hand side I saw a purple and pink plant swaying around in the water side to side, up and down and all around.

Then I saw a spiky pineapple with a door and that’s where I slept for the night.

THE NEXT DAY! The next day the people came down and switched it to morning mode. Then they fed me with my fish flakes and left me to it. While they were eating breakfast I decided to play a game! When they came to me I was in the pineapple house sleeping. “Why isn’t he moving?” asked the girl. “Because he’s sleeping.”
