Topic Plan YEAR 6

Starting point – Hook and Wow! Trips to the Tower and the Zoo

Context – What do we Know? We know the main features of a range of genres in writing. Maths During this half term, the children will be revising all strands of Maths in preparation for SATS. The children will mainly be concentrating on extended their knowledge of reasoning and problem solving.

Year 6 SATS Week is week beginning 9th May

English Following trips to the Zoo and the Tower, we will be writing discussion texts on whether animals should be used for entertainment. We will also be looking at the history of Blackpool Tower and writing a nonchronological report.

Business & Enterprise PSHE The Dyskoteka team will be preparing to launch their second disco.

We will be launching our values curriculum and focussing on one British Value.

Computing Throughout this half term, the children will be looking at programming skills and being able to confidently use Scratch.

How can I support my child at home? Please ensure that your child is completing their homework weekly and encourage them to practice their times-tables. Support the children by encouraging them to attend additional after school booster classes. Support learning of spellings and read regularly.
