Dear Parents and Carers I would like to warmly welcome you to Rye Community Primary School. My team and I are extremely proud of our popular school which has grown rapidly since we opened in 2008, and is recognised as a ‘good’ school by Ofsted and the community. When you visit Rye Community Primary the overwhelming feeling is of a family atmosphere; every child is known as an individual and their special talents are recognised and celebrated. The school became an academy with the Rye Academy Trust on 1st March 2015. Working together with Rye College and Studio School has opened up numerous opportunities for our children which are exciting and creative, developing the whole child with a focus on celebrating their talents. Due to the popularity of the school within the local community, East Sussex County Council have agreed the need to build an extension to our school to incorporate a ‘village’ approach to the education of children in our Early Years Foundation Stage. We are pleased to confirm that the new build is due to begin in January 2016 and is expected to be completed by September 2016. We are very excited by the prospect an additional space will provide. Enhancing our delivery of the continuous provision of an engaging curriculum, with the child at its heart and based on the characteristics of learning. We have a clear aim; to develop our children as resilient learners for a future in a modern Britain, where they are can aspire and achieve their dreams, making informed choices along their way. In September 2014 the leadership and management of Pugwash Nursery was incorporated into the Primary School, giving a seamless education from 2 years to 11 years. This has enabled our Foundation Stage Leader, Vicky Isted, to ensure that children across the entire Stage are confident learners who are prepared well for their transition to schooling in Key Stage 1. We work closely with the attached Children’s Centre, providing a base for an increasing range of integrated services including family support, information on child care and child minding, as well as speech and language therapy. The staff and Governors have high expectations of children’s achievement and behaviour. We believe in a strong partnership between home and school, where parents are partners in promoting good behaviour and a positive attitude to learning. We welcome parents into school to support their children in the classroom or to discuss their child’s progress and challenges. Throughout your child’s education we will keep you up to date and informed of progress and development. You are welcome to see us at any time, particularly if you have any concerns or questions, though an appointment may be necessary. Together we will support your child to achieve their goals. I am sure that you will share the confidence of our current parents in entrusting the care of your child to our school. Education is not only about equipping children with knowledge and skills, but also about capturing their enthusiasm, nourishing their creativity and making school a happy place to be for everyone. Please read through our prospectus or visit our web site www.ryeprimary.co.uk which displays pupils’ work and provides information regarding all aspects of school life. If you have any further questions do not hesitate to contact us. Making the right choice for your child is something we, as teachers and parents, fully understand.
