Students will be following the BTEC L2 Award qualification and can achieve a Pass, Merit or Distinction for each Unit. e.g. Unit 1 -Child Development, and Unit 3 - The Principles of Early Years Practice. An overall Distinction* could be achieved for the qualification at the end of the two year course.
Unit 1 – Child Development. Note- This Unit assessment is externally set and marked In-class pre-exam Assessments 1.1 – Areas of development, 1.2 – Factors affecting development, 1.3 – Age related development, 1.4 – Characteristics of children’s development, 1.5 – Promoting physical development, 1.6 – Promoting language development, and 1.7 – Role models and children’s development. Mock Exam(1) – Patterns of Child Development Mock Exam (2) – Patterns of Child Development. Unit 1 External Exam- Child Development- May Unit 3 - The Principles of Early Years Practice: Assignment 1 - The Importance of Inclusive practice Assignment 2 - Implementing inclusive practice Unit 2 - Promoting Children’s Development through Play Assignment 1 - Children at play and how adults can support them Assignment 2 – How Different Play Opportunities Promote Children’s Development Assignment 3 – How Play is Structured in Early Years Settings to Promote Children’s Development Unit 3 – The Principles of Early Years Practice: Assignment 3 - How children are empowered Assignment 4 - The importance of the key person approach Unit 1 – Child Development. Students will continue the BTEC L2 Award qualification with Unit 2 Promoting Children’s Development through Play and the second half of Unit 3 - The Principles of Early Years Practice

Students will be following the BTEC L3 Award/Certificate qualification and can achieve a Pass, Merit or Distinction for each Unit. e.g. Unit 4 -Health and Safety in Early Years, Unit 8 – Safeguarding in Early Years, Unit 9 – Observation, Assessment and Planning. An overall Distinction* could be achieved for the qualification at the end of the two year course.
