ach year we age should be a celebration of life, wouldn’t you agree? BUT, we think the old adage that we can just let ourselves go as we age is absolutely and completely untrue! You may say easier said than done —and yes, it can be a challenge, so we are going to help you address some of the most common aging concerns and tell you how to target and confront the signs of aging head-on. Come on - don’t give in to an adage!

This may surprise you, but if you have skin that is radiant, healthy and glowing, others may not even notice the two or three wrinkles you may have on your face. Another secret to a youthful appearance is evenly toned and softly textured skin. As we get older our skin tends to get dull because the cell turn-over rate slows, the sun damage, redness and hyperpigmentation don’t allow the skin to reflect light the same way it used to, causing it to look sallow.

We offer in-office treatments, like lasers, peels, fillers and injectables, coupled with home skin care treatments and topical products, can help to reverse damage and gain healthy skin back to a younger state.

Exfoliation is a crucial step in maintaining healthy skin because it can reduce dark spots and uneven skin tone. All exfoliation treatments work toward the same main goal; removing dead skin cells from the outermost layer of the skin.

We asked our skin expert and licensed aesthetician, Danielle, to give us all some tips about keeping our skin hydrated and radiant during the winter, she put together 9 great skin tips to share with you.

Use a lip balm as often as possible in the winter. Our glomineral mint

If you would like to target your skin more aggressively, our Obagi Blue Peel can achieve excellent results with pigmentation concerns and leave you with noticeably more radiant glowing skin.

This however does require preparatory skin care regimen and a few days of down-time due to peeling, but is well worth the results!

Even though the winter months are upon us just know that you should ALWAYS wear a sunscreen. No, sunscreen isn’t just for summertime. Winter sun —combined with snow glare —can still damage your skin.

Keep hydrated —it’s important! Statistically, people drink less water in the winter, so just remember to hydrate from the inside out. This means keeping your body extra hydrated by drinking at least 2 liters of water a day. Herbal teas are also a great winter-warming way to keep hydrated when it’s cold outside.

Everyone has what I like to call “Seasonal skin” with winter comes cold —which in turn causes dry skin. Make sure to switch to a heavier moisturizer during winter months.

Believe it or not, a humidifier in the winter will help dry skin greatly!

Central heating system’s blast out hot, dry air throughout our homes and offices. Humidifiers get more moisture in the air, which helps prevent your skin from drying out. Place several small humidifiers throughout your home; they help disperse the moisture more evenly.

Avoid HOT WATER!! Sure, soaking in a burning-hot bath feels great after frolicking out in the cold. But the intense heat of a hot shower or bath actually breaks down the lipid barriers in the skin, which can lead to a loss of moisture.

Remember your decolletage, it needs tender love and care also. We carry amazing moisturizers for your chest and cleavage area. Like Revisions Nectifirm and Glo Therapeutics Breast Cream. Both of these products do wonders for the chest!

We have had excellent results with our Affirm Laser Skin Tightening series, this does require 4 to 6 treatments spaced approximately every four weeks. The Affirm laser treatments penetrate the outer layer of skin and deeply to the dermis. This laser method produces instant contraction and stimulation of the collagen. This effect is the one responsible for creating tighter, firmer skin, improving surface texture and elasticity at the same time. The results are cumulative as the collagen continues to regenerate by the stimulation. If you are not willing to be patient, this method is probably not for you.

In the meantime while you are getting your skin in shape, injectables such as Botox to vanish pesky wrinkles in your forehead, crows feet, or lip lines can literally take years off your face. Fillers, like Juvéderm, Restylane, Radiesse and other volume-adders can give youthful volume and smooth wrinkles. Injectables are more immediate and can give you essentially “instant gratification” while we work towards a long-term goal of finding the right combination to address your specific aging concerns.
