As we celebrate the bespoke interiors of homes in this edition of the catalogue, our main focus is on the role of style in defining a home and it’s occupant.

We settled on the SAFARI theme for this edition of our catalogue because SAFARI epitomizes a minimalist type of décor which can be accessorized with throw pillows and rugs that come in a wide variety of print.

Commonly defined as “a place of residence or refuge,” a home can be anything you want it to be. A place to be inspired, to unplug, to experiment with patterns and color or to revel in the calmness of minimalism. Regardless of our ever changing tastes, interests and passions, we as occupants

INTERIOR TRENDS

2015

REINVENTING CLASSIC LUXURY AND VERSATILE FUNCTIONALITY

Modern interior trends for 2015, reinvents luxury, serenity, creative recycling and versatility in furniture design and interior decorating. This includes classic, retro and contemporary design ideas, traditional and new materials, fresh decorating colors, exotic motifs, ethnic decoration patterns, artistic details and a surprising blend of textures. Where contemporary design ideas are combined with gilded antiques, velvet and silk or carved wood accents are mixed with industrial metal details. Modern interior trends relect the desire to establish a vivid and memorable way of creating bold and interesting work or living space that has personality. Latest color design trends relect stylish fashion design and consumer trends, bringing innovations, mixing trend analysis, versatility and unexpected solutions into stylish home furnishings and modern interior design.

Fusion of styles, materials & decoration patterns

Mixing old and new interior design ideas and incorporating a fusion of styles into room decor are modern interior trends for 2015. It creates stylish, comfortable and interesting living spaces, connecting the old and fresh. Sotly curved lines, organic shapes and natural interior decorating color schemes with stunning accents dramatically change interior design and decor.

Modern interior decorating materials

Salvaged wood, stone and metal are popular and modern interior design materials, especially fabulous rustic wood, natural light wood, exotic types of wood and colorful stained wood. Warmly glowing gold and majestic bronze, elegant granite and luxurious marble will also do the trick. Metals are mainly combined with other materials in frames and bases of modern chairs, tables, sofas, beds and lighting fixtures. Metal and wood details are modern interior trends for 2015 in classic and contemporary furniture and decor accessories. White marble is the most luxurious stone that defines one of the most spectacular and classy interior trends in 2015. 8

Fabrics & Patterns

Prints and patterns are definitely back on the rise – visual impact is the key theme. On one side we see luid looking prints, peacock feather patterns, photographic images, graded dip dye designs, text, blurred images, lorals and tropical prints. On the other, we see strong geometric designs, 3d patterns, repeated forms, kaleidoscopic images and patterns inspired by cells and molecules. Fabrics are about texture, be it visual or otherwise. Velvet textures and raw looking weaves are popular. The use of fabric for sofas and upholstery is back on trend.

Natural world

Textures derived from nature, whether from animals, minerals or vegetables are in. Think botany, insect prints, fossils, bone, wood bark, stone and organic shapes. We are tending to like our woods looking raw or shinny. We want materials and finishes to look authentic and we are using them in more simple ways in order to appreciate their beauty. Additionally, we are leaning towards steel, copper, pewter, gold and other metal accents in preference to just chrome and stainless steel.

Matte finishes

A matte finish gives an object a raw, edgy look and

also allows you to appreciate the overall form and material that an item is made of. This principle is crucial in modern design and it also harks back to our desire for natural and authentic soter finishes. This trend is growing in everything from tapware, lighting, furniture, accessories, kitchens and bathrooms, right through to entire rooms.

Modern interior design colors

Pleasant natural room colors and sot pastels are perfectly set of with shades of gray color, sot black and creamy white tones, reinventing classic decorating ideas or bringing beautiful contrasts into contemporary spaces. Cold shades of brown colors, in combination with granite gray color tones and hints of leafy green colors create beautiful and natural decorating color schemes for modern interior design. Mustard yellow and mauve, all light and deep purple colors, rich blue and pink color shades are modern color design trends in 2015. This year we’ll be seeing a diversity of color like we haven’t seen in ages. Our attention has settled on gentle colors like muted pastels, smoky shades of grey, sot neutrals, metal hues, rich leather and marine tones. The opposite end of the spectrum are vibrant jewel and fruit colors. Paint colors for the home still revolve

around sophisticated basics with preference for cleaner whites, smokier neutrals and updated muted pastels. Feature walls are out, zone painting schemes are in and beige is a thing of the past.

Natural themes and organic design

Green spaces with large windows and glass wall design ideas are inspiring interior trends in 2015. Green walls, indoor water features, nature inspired decoration patterns, room colors, bright fabric prints, loral wallpapers and vibrant interior paint colors, bring natural themes into modern interior design. These are teamed with fresh shades of green colors, light gray color tones, beige, black and white decorating colors. The natural world is one of the greatest inluences on the coming season. Inspiration comes from the Nordic landscape with its endless vistas. Natural materials, such as stone, wood and glass, dominate this style. Natural elements, represents a contemporary feeling in design and form, with natural materials in furniture and permanent fittings. It’s an exciting mix of wood, metal and leather (which is making a comeback, but in a new way). Basket weave and other plaited details will be appearing on furniture. Expect to see pre-patinated surfaces on both wood and textiles, and a lot of washed linen ahead of next season, both on sofas and bedding. www.scenecatalogue.com - 5th Edition 2015

Refresh and revitalize your rooms by welcoming sweet outdoor light, sun and lowers into your home ater the dry cold harmattan. When the harmatan is over, we spare no time moving our lives outdoors firing up the barbecue, dining al fresco, landscaping the yard, picking fresh herbs and relaxing in the wonderful sun and warm air. Let the sunshine in. Welcome the summer sun and breeze into your living space. If it’s not too hot or humid, open your windows during the day to let natural light into your living room. Sheer curtains are another nice addition during the summer months because they allow more natural light to pass through. However, with so much focus on the great outdoors, it’s easy to dismiss simple seasonal ideas that can freshen up the indoors. “The goal is to blur the distinction between the outdoors and indoors,” says Bonnie Trust Dahan, author of Living with the Seasons (Chronicle Books, 2003). “Take a day to think about it and do it,” she says. “It gives a sense of renewal in your house and brings you in touch with the season.”

Bringing Summer

INDOORS Play with your fruits and vegetables

Turn seasonal produce into a centre piece for your kitchen or dining table. “Try a dozen lemons in a cobalt blue bowl. Yellow and blue are the colours of summer and it adds a nice citrus scent,” says Bonnie.

Let nature take its course

Formal loral arrangements can be too heavy for summertime. Take a cue from the garden and casually arrange lowers as they would grow outdoors, writes Kristin Perers, author of A Home For All Seasons (Ryland Peters & Small, 1998). Toss some fragrant herbs, such as mint, rosemary and sage into arrangements or plant them in a window box outside a bedroom and enjoy the aroma all night long.

Change textiles throughout

Lighten up any room by exchanging heavy fabrics for breezier ones. In the living room, take down drapes or replace them with an open weave such as chifon or organza, suggests Bonnie. Change throw-pillow covers and sofa slipcovers in the den, add crisp white or bright solid or loral percale or linen sheets in the bedroom, use quick-drying towels in the bathroom and opt for natural woven placemats instead of a tablecloth in the dining room. The trick is to design your sofa around the summer season. As you switch out your throw pillows, bring in new colors such as blue, green or yellow to give your sofa a brighter look. To simplify, pick two colors as your theme and one accent color. One of my favorite color combinations for the house is blue and white! As you can see from the pictures, orange is the accent color I am loving this year! Luckily it goes with all sorts of neutrals—including the cream couch.

Cut a rug

Bring the outdoors in

“I like to take accents from the garden a cachepot, a tool and use them out of context in the home,” says Bonnie”. ‘They’re little reminders of what’s going on outdoors’. Store spatulas or wooden spoons in a terracotta pot, frame a collection of antique gardening tools to create a seasonal wall collage or move patio furniture indoors.

Smell like summer

Put away products with which you regularly bathe or shower and opt for ones with summer scents, like rosemary bath soap or fruity body wash.

Who needs that heavy Oriental rug during summer? Lay down a more natural alternative, such as a sisal rug, or better yet, keep the loors bare. “It’s a nice feeling walking barefoot on a hardwood loor,” says Bonnie.

Spruce up your cleaning and scents

Clean with an array of aromatic cleaning products. Try one infused with delightful seasonal scents, such as rosewater linen wash and lavender carpet refresher.

Summer floral walls

Get crafty

Floral have become a huge returned trend, updated from the overly fussy patterns we associate with granny’s curtains, to become contemporary, organic touches of natural beauty. In this dining room space, an elegant, leafy wallpaper was used to draw a connection to the outdoors and summer, and then continued it into the kitchen to visually link the two rooms as well.

Simple summer shirting can get the creativity going. Employ the fabric in decorative details like a patchwork quilt or pillow shams. If you prefer more loral works, press petals between two framed pieces of glass for instant art or use them to border a mirror for a touch of summer all year long. www.scenecatalogue.com - 5th Edition 2015

t’s tempting to get as big a bed as possible, but make sure it doesn’t feel overwhelming in your room. Most master suites can handle a kingsized bed, but when in doubt, select a queen. Size and place your bed so there’s space for other furniture. A pair of nightstands and bed crammed wall-to-wall gives no visual relief. Do you want an extra seating area in your bedroom? You don’t need a ton of space. According to Leland, a seating area can be as small as 1.2 x 1.2 meter for a single chair and a small table. If you have the space, a loveseat and two end tables can usually fit in a 3 x 1.5 meter area.

COLOR COLOR & LIGHT

COMBINING COLOR AND LIGHT IN A SPACE Light and color are inseparable in our experience of the world and together form our visual experience of any space. Thus the understanding of light, color and their interaction is fundamental for architecture as the art of forming and organizing space.

unexpected and surprising efects, transforming home interiors like a chameleon which changes its outer skin color.

The “balance” happens when decorative colors are added in furniture, window treatments and other accessories to a well lite space. We’ve mixed and matched colors from diferent palettes to show how versatile they can be when partnered with lights. The result is an inviting, inspiring and harmonious makeover for your room! Color itself is like one of the senses, enhancing our world and our state of mind. Lightened color can bring about a transformation- energizing, refreshing, calming, expanding or warming your space. Using color and light at home in a decorating scheme can sometimes be a bit of a balancing act. This is why it’s important to select the colors that’s just right for your lite space.

WHAT COLORS DO YOU DREAM IN?

Dark colors will transform a bedroom into a dreamy, mythical landscape. On the walls, Essential Teal , is a profound hue that adds a measure of mystery and majesty. Clean white trim and lampshades add a light contrast, while Heritage Oak is a dark counterbalance in the furniture. Layers of color and texture are found in the bedding, bringing bright pops of color for volume and interest. An elegant neutral like Seared Gray on the wall allows rich, folkloric textile patterns and exotic fuchsia, Liaison, to shimmer and shine. The fresh and bright modern room decorating ideas and contemporary interior design style creates an impressive blend of creative approach to interior architecture and design with innovative lighting design and rich room colors. In this traditional bath, frosty pink walls painted Secret Blush have an airy, feminine appeal. To keep the room from feeling “overly sweet,” a pop of Plastic Lime from the “Social Brights” trend palette appears on the vintage tub. The contrast of Dandelion Tea with the Prime Purple accent is accompanied by a clean white on the fireplace, shelving and window treatments. White decorating ideas; white paint colors for the ceiling, walls and furniture, white window curtains and furniture upholstery fabrics, combined with the contemporary interior design in minimalist style create appealing home interiors that look calm and elegant. SPARK CONVERSATIONS WITH A BRIGHT FEATURE WALL AND WALL MOUNTS

The key to using brights is to use them strategically. They work well when partnered with neutrals, dark hues or light hues. A contemporary dining room is a lively place for a conversation with a feature wall in Sonic Blue, and painted chair leg accents in Plastic Lime. The room is further refined with deep magenta accents in Graphic Grape and ofset by walls of light Dreamscape Gray. Your Majesty, a deep, warm plum, frames the windows and accents shelving. Modern styling and black and white décor go hand-in-hand with the vivacious accent red, Super Hero. Expressing human emotions, people can change interior design colors of their environment also. The efect is called interior lighting scenography. The word Scenography is of Greek origin and comes from the words Skini meaning Stage and Grapho, meaning To write. So the actual meaning of the word is to describe something on stage.

Comfortable, weathered colors are the hallmark of today’s midrange neutral palette. It is the perfect marriage of function, color and contentment. Shelves and workspaces are framed in a backdrop of tempered red-violet, Mulberry Wine.

The architects and interior designers added custommade furniture design in minimalist style. Simple shapes and straight lines create room that feels contemporary and stylish. Crispy white decorating, paint colors and home furnishings add a clean and dramatic efect to apartment ideas. Contemporary furniture design, the cofee table, shelving units and beds, look like large wooden boxes, adding stunning details to room decor and blending the functionality and style.

People describe their rooms, creating impressive interior design with color changing lighting. Recently the word is also used for the art of color changing in modern interior design. The design can either be simple or luxurious. A simple bathroom can be created using pastel colors such as cream, blue and white.
