You’ll learn how a project’s design comes together, from initial concepts to detailed plans, including the seamless coordination of all disciplines within a BIM (building information model) environment.

• Design & Drawing: Collaborate with architects and studio team members to create detailed architectural drawings, presentation drawings, graphic design work, digital models and 3D models using AutoCAD Architecture, Autodesk Revit, SketchUp, Lumion, Twinmotion, and Adobe Photoshop • Documentation: Assist in the preparation of construction documents, specifications, and project reports. Ensure accuracy and compliance with relevant codes and standards.

• Project Coordination: Work closely with project managers to coordinate tasks and schedules to meet project goals and deadlines.

• Continual Learning: Learn to use industry standard software and best practices to enhance your skills.

WHAT’S REQUIRED • Currently pursuing a Bachelor/Master degree in Architecture.

• Knowledge of Building Information Modeling (BIM), Revit and/or AutoCAD. • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite required.

• Ability to communicate both verbally and in writing.

• The ability to work autonomously and within a team environment.

• Strong organizational skills and the ability to effectively meet deadlines.

• Strong attention to detail and a commitment to producing highquality work.

I joined SCB in 2006 as a Project Manager and transitioned to Construction Administration in 2013. I wanted to be apart of the "reality" of what we design. Architecture doesn’t just exist on paper, built architecture exists in space. Construction administration is where design and reality meet.

The best designed documents still require a guiding hand to reach their physical potential. The old saying, "the devil is in the details", could not be truer as a construction administrator. The eye for and execution of the details is where a space comes to life and architecture becomes more than just a dream.

I joined SCB because throughout the interview process they stressed opportunities to learn. I wanted a firm that would encourage my growth as I worked toward becoming a registered Architect. To have the entire firm behind you when you are taking the hardest exams of your career motivates you to get passed that finish line. Another reason I chose SCB was the projects they take on, I’m currently in the K-12 studio and have been given the opportunity to meet with teachers, board members and students in order to meet the community’s goals.

Since being at SCB I think the best surprise, I could have ever gotten was the studio culture I came to love in school never changed when I got to the ‘real world’.

The people are what make a workplace and I’m glad I’m surrounded by such great people that give me every chance to grow and learn in many different roles and stages of a project.

When looking for internships, I chose to work for SCB as a student intern because of their K-12 studios and how they integrate sustainable and environmental aspects into their designs. SCB also designed many buildings on the University of Kentucky’s campus which also intrigued my interest in the firm. After being at SCB for a 2 years now, I have noticed that the studio culture is very similar to the one we developed while attending undergrad at the College of Design, University of Kentucky.

I’ve worked for SCB since 2005, and during my time here I have come to realize what a great company it really is. SCB was not my first employer and my time at other firms has kept me from taking for granted the fantastic things this company does to retain their employees while designing superior projects.

I have gotten to work on many great projects, but the most rewarding projects have been in the K-12 sector. Being able to be apart of the next generation’s development by designing environments that give the students a sense of pride, boost learning, motivation, and attention, while also providing a wellfunctioning and safe site has meant a great deal to me.
