News

Madrid Trip

On the 18th of December,

Secondary students from SBS went on a 3-day trip to Madrid.

There, students watched a Flamenco show, went to the Prado Art Museum, Day & Night guided tour around Madrid, and enjoyed the Retiro Park.

End-of-Term Trip

The very last day of school, we went to the Valor chocolate factory for breakfast, then we went bowling at Ozone and had lunch at McDonald’s/Burger King. We also walked down the beach and enjoyed the sunshine!

Library

On Friday the 15th, KS3 went on a trip to the Library, there, they visited the art exhibit, and some became associates of the library.

Secret Santa

On December 15th, Sierra Bernia School held a Secret Santa event, where we exchanged gifts to each other!

Valentine’s Edition

La La Land

Lady and the Tramp

A romance begins to blossom between the two dogs, but their many differences, along with more drama at Lady's household, threaten to keep them apart.

Tangled

The movie is about a lost princess with long magical hair who wants to leave her tower. Against her mother's wishes, she gets help from a bandit thief to take her out into the world. The movie was first titled and marketed as Rapunzel.

Heart-shaped pepperoni pizza:

This week the recipe will be more tips on how to make the heart-shaped pizza better.

How to shape a heart-shaped pizza:

● You can either buy a dough or make it yourself.

● Before you start making the shape you should make sure that the dough is at room temperature because if it is cold it will be harder to shape.

● The first method is the stretch method: You can use your hands to work around the dough and slowly stretch it into a heart. This will not be 100% perfect in shape, but you won’t waste dough. You’ll probably end up with slightly thicker crust around the point and top of the heart since the dough will have a tendency to bunch up there as you shape it.

● The second method is the cut method: This is my preferred method even though you lose a little dough in the process. Roll the dough out into a perfect circle and then use a dough scraper or pizza cutter to cut the indent out of the top of the heart and then stretch and cut the bottom of the heart for the point. Easy and looks really good!

Cutting the pepperoni hearts:

You don’t have to cut your pepperoni into hearts but it is a nice detail.

● To make them, fold the pepperoni in half and then use a paring knife or kitchen scissors to cut an angle off the top piece. Then trim around the edge to form the point of the heart.

Tips and tricks for an awesome pepperoni pizza:

● Use a pizza stone. If you don’t have one, they are a few bucks and really hold the heat of your oven and make for a better crust. Worth the investment! (Be sure to open a window and turn on a fan as they can create some smoke as they cook).

● Maximize the pepperoni. When making pepperoni pizza, dice up some extra pepperoni and add it to the sauce under the cheese.

● Have some restraint with toppings. Don’t pile on so much cheese and pepperoni that you can’t see the sauce or crust.

● Make enough for leftovers. Leftover pizza is the best!

Just the two of us - Grover Washington, Jr

"Be My Wife" has turned into one of David Bowie's most loved numbers by his fanbase. It was never a big hit, but its balance of that album's experimental aggression with a more conventional and winning vocal performance by Bowie resulted in a surprisingly romantic song. .

Thinking Out Loud - Ed Sheeran

Sheeran wrote the song with friend and fellow British songwriter Amy Wadge. Sonically, this single maintains an overtly, and deeply romantic theme leading Sheeran to declare it as a “walking down the aisle song.” At the time, Sheeran was reportedly in the throes of a blissful relationship with his then-girlfriend Athina Andrelos. In this state of mind, the meaning behind Sheeran’s lyrics becomes undeniably hopeful.
