CAPE MAY Welcomes Families for the For many people, the holidays are a special time of the year. People are in positive spirits, sending holiday cheer to one another! Year after year, I always find time to spend a weekend in the beautiful beach town of Cape May, New Jersey. Cape May has the beauty and charm of a winter wonderland spectacular! The numerous activities, and beauty, of a beach community in the month of December may surprise you! The Cape May Arts and Humanities Center (Cape May MAC), has an abundance of events set forth for its’ visitors. You may decide to spend your time taking trolley tours around town, or exploring at your own leisure, beautifully decorated Victorian homes. When dusk sets in, the town of Cape May lights up into a magical, winter wonderland; with dazzling holiday lights, all created with a feel of the Victorian Era. The 43rd annual Christmas Candlelight House Tour will be in full swing, on Saturdays’, December 3, 10th, and 17th. For a nominal fee, guests can tour close to a dozen or so historical, Victorian homes. Touring these historical homes, affords the opportunity to step back into centuries past. Many Cape May homeowners will generously open up their homes, to allow its’ visitors glimpses of the inner beauty of their cozy and warmly decorated residences for the very special holiday of Christmas. Hospitality stops are also incorporated into this unique event; with a variety of

complimentary homemade cookies, apple cider, and hot chocolate! If you are planning a weekend trip, you should plan in advance. The holidays, in Cape May, are filled with an abundance of leisurely options. The following is just a sampling of the holiday excitement which awaits you: “six weeks of special holidays tours and events including the 43rd Annual Christmas Candlelight House Tours (Dec. 3, 10 and 17), plus Lamplighter Christmas Tours, Ghosts of Christmas Past Trolley Rides, Emlen Physick Estate Christmas Tours, Holiday Inns Tours, Evening Holiday Lights Trolley Rides, Evening Ghosts of Christmas Past Trolley Rides, Santa’s Trolley Rides, and more. The festivities last through Sunday, Jan. 1, 2017. There are several restaurants in which you can enjoy a hearty breakfast, lunch, or enchanting dinner. The Pier House, located on the property of the La Mer Beachfront Inn, and also Aleathea’s, located in the Inn of Cape May, provide excellent meals. The Peter Shield’s Inn is well regarded for its’ formal ambiance, and outstanding food! It is strongly advised to book dinner reservations well in advance. Each restaurant will be beautifully decorated for the holidays. For further information, and assistance in planning your holiday visit to Cape May, feel free to visit the Mid-Atlantic Center for the Arts and Humanities at www.capemaymac.org 609-884-5404. — Thomas C.
