Welcome to BI

The Fadderullan Board welcomes you as a student at BI in Nydalen! This is the kick off for your study, and we are here to give you a good start filled with a lot of great students, amazing events and a whole bunch of good memories. During your ten first days here at BI, we give you the opportunity to participate in a regatta in the Oslo Fjord, treasure hunt, concerts, barbecues, competition between Oslo’s colleges and universities; simply everything you could want from a real introduction week! Fadderullan is the first thing you meet when starting at BI, and we hope it will help you create what is perhaps the most important tool in your academic life, a good social network. The network you establish during Fadderullan will hopefully accompany you throughout your study at BI. With a unique mix of national and international students, we have prepared for that just YOU should have fun and make memories with your new friends.

Participate in as many events as possible, we have something for everyone! At your first day at school you will become a part of a buddy group with other new students and you get a great group of buddies that are there for you only. They will show you the school facilities, be together with you around at all events, arranging activities for the buddy group and of course, answer all the questions you have about the life being a student at BI. We want you to end Fadderullan with a lot of new friends, amazing memories and a fantastic feeling. But first you have to experience it yourself, participate in everything and most of all enjoy yourself. So without further nonsense, here is the program for Fadderullan 2011, filled with breathtaking events where MAGIC MOMENTS are created!

Best regards

Fadderullan Board 2011

Dear new student! Welcome to BI Norwegian Business School! As a student at BI, you will gain an education which combines academic quality and relevance to business and industry. In addition, your time as a student will give you the opportunity to build a network and grow as a person. The student organisations associated with BI offer a wide variety of activities. They also serve as an important link between students and business and industry. The organisations organise BI’s Career Days, Næringslivsdagene, Fadderullan (BI’s Enrolment weeks), and student activism for charitable causes, to name a few things. Contributing to these activities lets you practice what you’ve learnt. An active life as a student is something employers value, too. Involvement in student organisations helps you make contacts and form relationships for a future career. A committee membership on your CV shows you have the capacity to do something in addition to studying. Employers appreciate this!

The student organisations are primarily for students. They will help you get involved and active and contribute to a good time as a student. BI Norwegian Business School highly appreciates their work. Our learning environment would not be the same without our student organisations. And BI’s management highly appreciates the good cooperation we have developed through several years. Fadderullan (BI’s Enrolment weeks) is SBIO’s biggest project. It gives new students and buddies unforgettable experiences and makes for a great starting point for life as a student here at BI Oslo. Again, I welcome you warmly to BI and a great week!

Kind regards

Tom Colbjørnsen President, BI Norwegian Business School

Studentforeningen SBIO MEET UP, CONTRIBUTE, AND EXPLOIT THE POSSIBILITIES! First and foremost it is my duty to say ”Congratulations!” You have made an important choice when choosing to start 3 years of education at BI, but the academics are not enough on its own! My message to you is “BE ACTIVE”, “DARE TO SPEAK UP” and “WELL BEEING”! BE ACTIVE! Being active means joining activities you are interested in outside your studies. This can be career activities like arranging Aksjedagen (“the stock-day”), attend business presentations or be present at a lecture on Næringslivsdagene (“the businessdays”). If you are interested in sports it is possible to join Lacrosse, the sailing or football team. Another possibility is to join your program association to improve the class-environment. For more information attend “Recruitment day 8th of September.”

with student’s attitudes when it comes to students and alcohol. This is not about telling you that alcohol is dangerous. It is about respecting you fellow students who make other choices than you, and letting them have the freedom to chose to drink soda or have only a couple of beers when they want to take an early night. WELL BEEING! As a BI student you are always welcome at SBIO Kroa. At kroa you can relax, grab some food, arrange events, meet friends, get new acquaintances or simply just chill! It is open every Tuesday and Thursday. In the end I will like to which you all a fantastic start of the semester. Use the buddy-weeks to make new friends and increase your social network. They will be useful later!

Best Regards DARE TO SPEAK UP! Daring to speak up range from speaking loud in class to telling INSIDE what you think about a fair study financing. SBIO work a lot

The battle of Oslo Thursday 25.08

What unites us more than a common enemy? How important is it to prove that BI-students in the end are better than students from other campuses in Oslo?

-

magical moments

This year, for the first time in the history, there will be held a competition between the campuses in the Tiger Town. The good-hearted rivalry can never start too early in the semester, therefore Fadderullan and the boards of STUDiO and HiOA invite buddy groups (student unions?) from all campuses in Oslo, to find out this year’s best students. We will rap, dance, debate, cook, study and, not at least, fight, until we have found out which students that can use the title Tiger Students of 2011.

The Room of Faith and Reflection is open for everybody, irrespective of faith and view of life. It reflects the variety and the respect we have for each other at BI in Oslo. We welcome you to use the room, either alone or as part of a group. Already, various student groups facilitate a number of activities in the Room of Faith and Reflection. The room is located in D1, between Sparebank1 and Intersport.

VARIETY MAKES PEOPLE FEEL WELL

Student Welfare coordinates all the different activities at the house. Together with SBIO and The Student Welfare Organization in Oslo and Akershus we offer different activities and courses. We can help you with your challenges and be a door opener towards your goals. We are located in 3C – welcome!
