1965
The restaurant is purchased by Greek immigrant and restaurateur, Spiro Baltas.
1977
Serendipity 3 moves to its current location on 60th Street and 3rd Avenue.
2015
The restaurant is featured in the movie “Serendipity,” starring John Cusack and Kate Beckinsale, which brings it worldwide recognition. 1999
Serendipity 3 creates the world’s most expensive dessert, the “Golden Opulence Sundae,” which sells for $1,000 and is made with edible 23-karat gold leaf, rare chocolates, and exotic fruits. 2003
The restaurant is briefly closed due to gas leak in the kitchen.
Serendipity 3 is temporarily closed due to a rat infestation, but reopens after passing inspection.
The restaurant creates another record-breaking dessert, the “Frozen Haute Chocolate,” which is priced at $25,000 and is made with 28 rare and exotic cocoas, edible gold, and a diamond-encrusted
