Staff Recognition Happy Retirement Gary! SaTH has bid a fond farewell to Gary Audis, Senior Anatomical Pathology Technician (APT), who retired last week after 31 years of service at the Trust. Gary started work as a trainee APT in December 1990, having previously worked as a porter. He became the senior APT in 2007, and in 2018 post mortem services permanently transferred to RSH, so Gary’s workplace changed site. Gary returned early to run the PRH mortuary during the COVID pandemic and currently he is a lone worker there. Joanne Roberts, Lead Anatomical Pathology Technician, said: “Gary is an extremely experienced and knowledgeable member of staff. He helped to facilitate the transition of Women and Children’s unit to PRH and the tasks the mortuary became responsible for. “He will be sorely missed by his colleagues. He is a supportive colleague with loads of patience and a great sense of humour. “He has been instrumental in training three new members of staff on how to run the PRH mortuary and all of the tasks performed there.” Gary’s wife, Pat, works on the Children’s Ward and they have three grown-up children and five grandchildren. He is a keen fisherman, likes caravanning and enjoys spending time with his two beloved dogs.
Our Latest Long Service Award Winners
Congratulations to Wendy Porter, Cindy Moore and Dee Corbett from the Catering Team at PRH who recently collected their long service awards! The Long Service Award is awarded to all staff who have worked in the NHS for over 25 or 40 years.
