Did you know that the coral reefs are dying? See what they looked like 10 years ago and what they look like now...
Most of this is due to global warming. To help stop this you can do a variety of things: turn off your lights, walk instead of driving, cycle, scoot or park and stride, tell your parents to turn off the car when you are parked and eat more food grown and produced in the U.K.
When you go onto the internet, there are many platforms that can be inappropriate for children like us.
When you go Online, make sure you never post or trade personal pictures or reveal personal information, such as address, phone number, school name or location. Use only a screen name and don't share passwords (other than with parents). Never agree to get together in person with anyone met online without parent approval and/or supervision. Sometimes people put information online that might be unreliable, fake or wrong. False information can end up online by mistake, somebody might be trying to be funny or it could be meant to trick people.
If you see a padlock in the top left-hand corner of the search bar, then the platform you are on is secure. After searching onto a website, you will notice that the link will start with either HTTPS or HTTP. If it starts with HTTPS than the website you are on is secure. However, if it says HTTP, you are on an insecure website.
On many social media platforms- for instance Face book, Twitter, Snapchat, WhatsApp, Fortnite etc.-there are age limits. Age limits are set to avoid inappropriate viewing for younger children and bad behaviour affecting other people. If you are under the age limit and want the app, you might change your age to get in, which is not recommended to be done as it is not suitable for you.
While you’re on your device, if anything strange or odd, like an advert or offer, comes up on your screen, tell a trusted adult immediately and do not answer.
In many movies/films there is either a symbol, a symbol or 12, 15, 18 + symbol. means that you have to have parental
guidence to watch or install. means universal and means that you can watch from any age.
1. Look for the clues. Seem too good to be true? Looks weird? Doesn’t make sense? There are often clues when we can’t trust something online, so stay alert and look closely to see if things match up.
2. Check more than one source. It’s always a good idea to check in lots of places when you’re trying to find information. If you see something and you’re not sure if it’s true, search online and see if you can find it on other websites, especially sites that are normally reliable.
3. Ask an adult for help. If you’re still stuck, then you can always ask an adult you know and trust for help. Someone at home or a teacher at school can help you find out what’s true and what’s not.

• They're the world's largest land animal.
• You can tell the three species apart by their ears.
• Their trunks have mad skills!
• Their tusks are actually teeth.
• They've got thick skin.
• Elephants are constantly eating.
• They communicate through vibrations.
Elephants are afraid of bees! Let that sink in for a second! The largest animal on land is so terrified of a tiny insect that it will flap its ears, stir up dust and make noises when it hears the buzz of a beehive. Of course, a bee's stinger can't even penetrate the thick hide of an elephant!

Join Dreg at the start of his adventure from squire to warrior!
When Dreg became a soldier, he never expected to be combatting the most powerful beings in the whole of Midras kingdom.
It all started when the war against the Dragon began to rage.
“Dreg,” His Father called.” Today is the big day! It’s your fifteenth birthday!”
“I know,” Dreg replied, “I get to sign up for my first official apprenticeship for the role I was destined for.”
“So, what are you going to choose?” Dreg’s father was the chief squire to the honoured knight called Preyt Brassarm. It was traditional for sons to take up their father’s role and daughters to take up their mother’s however there were an odd few in town who didn’t.
“I have made my choice Father,” Dreg said finally. “I want to be a soldier.”
“A soldier, why not a noble squire?”
“I wanted a change from being a squire. I’ve been helping you with your errands for the past few years and it’s been getting quite repetitive.”
“Your choice not mine,” his father shrugged.
“Goodbye father,” he firmly replied.
“Good luck son,” and with that Dreg set off to the garrison to enrol in his apprenticeship.
On his way there he passed a wide variety of market stalls: fishmongers, farmers with their carts of goods, hunters, weaponsmiths and armourers. After what felt like an age, Dreg finally reached the garrison,
“Honoured Knight captain I have come for an apprenticeship,” Dreg stated.
“You? Dreg Squire?” The Knight captain queried.
Dreg lifted his chin and confirmed, “Yes, Knight Captain.”
“Then so it is- if that is your choice.”
And with that Dreg was enrolled in an apprenticeship for the garrison. His training would be long, tiresome and exhausting. For months on end all his days were spent by travelling to the garrison, practicing his sword fighting technique, his shield wall tactic and blocking.
During his sparring one day, the knight in charge of Dreg’s division, Lieutenant Hyred came up to him, “The day has come recruit. You must choose your primary weapon from our arsenal.” Hyred pulled him towards the weapons shed.
“What are my options?” Dreg replied excitedly.
“Spears, axes, swords, shields, halberds, bows, daggers ; you name it!”
Which weapon would you choose! Find me and tell me!

We currently hold the Gold level ‘Sainsbury’s School Games’ kitemark, and the PE Quality Mark at Distinction; one of only a handful of schools in the region to have achieved this status. We believe that competition in school sport is healthy when undertaken with the right spirit, which our school values underpin. Children have opportunity to compete at an intra-school level between classes or colour teams, on an inter-school level at local tournaments, festivals and leagues and on a county level should we progress that far at the Hampshire games. We run school football, netball and cross-country teams in the local leagues whilst also competing in many other competitions across the school year.
PE and sport at Sarisbury Junior School provides a wide range of opportunities to develop skills, teamwork, leadership and awareness of the importance of exercise. Taught through a varied and accessible curriculum of games, gymnastics and dance, children of all abilities are encouraged to make the most of the talents and abilities. Which sports team will you join?
Team 1 (Hurricanes): Ronnie, Jake
Team 2 (White Wolves): Emily, Benjamin and Frankie
Our ref today is Wardy!
“Looks like it’s going to be a pretty even match today and Ronnie with the first run up the side of the pitch and a brilliant cross in to Jake, a shot and what a save from Ben the keeper! The keeper passes to Frankie and ooh it’s intercepted by Jake. Tackled again by Frankie and it’s a Hurricane throw. Intercepted by Emily, crossed into Frankie and it’s wide. Ronnie is taking the goal kick and it’s been taken all the way to the halfway line and tackled by Emily and Frankie - tag teaming all the way! A shot in the left corner and saved by Jake!
Ronnie running up the line, crossed into Jake and what a goal! The keeper just missed that one. 1-0 to the Hurricanes!
The White Wolves are looking determined to get a goal now. Frankie taking the kick. Passed to Emily and a shot just in the bottom corner! 5 minutes left on the clock. Ronnie and Jake making a few passes across the pitch and banged a shot in the top bins by Ronnie! Almost an impossible save for the keeper to make. Just as the White Wolves about to take the kick off Wardy has blown full time. The hurricanes win 2-1 (on aggregate!)”
Round 2
“It starts with the Hurricanes - kick off goes to Jake! Rainbow-flicks over Frankie and dribbles through, and Emily makes a crunching tackle on Jake and Wardy gives freekick Jake lines up for the freekick He passes to Ronnie and he squares it to Jake and GOAL! 3-1 to the Hurricanes (on aggregate)
It kicks off with Emily to Frankie - he leaves it to Ben. He dribbles past Jake, Ben shoots 3-2! Ronnie takes kick off to Jake- he drives down the wing nutmegs Frankie but saved by Ben. He dribbles past Jake shoots goal by Ben he makes it 3-3!
Kick off by Ronnie he plays it to Jake who shoots! Frankie takes him down so penalty for the Hurricanes. Jake shoots- it’s saved by Ben. Jake scores the follow up and red card for Frankie it’s 4-3!
One minute left to play! Ben passes to Emily who shoots and scores to make it 4-4!
Wardy blows the final whistle.
What an exciting match! Penalties are needed to decide the winner!”
Round 3- Penalty Shootout
• Wardy (our ref) flips a coin to decide who shoots first and it is the White Wolves who will shoot first.
• Emily steps to shoot and she scores! 1-0 to the White Wolves
• Ronnie steps up and converts 1-1. TOP BINS!
• Frankie steps up and hits the post. 1-1
• Jake steps up and scores 2-1 to the Hurricanes
• Ben steps up to equalise the score board and he does 2-2!
• Ronnie steps up again to give the win to the Hurricanes but he doesn’t and it’s a brilliant save by Ben
SUDDEN DEATH!
• Jake steps up and scores 3-2
• Emily steps up and scores a brilliant goal - she tricked the goalie completely 3-3!
• Ronnie steps up and scores 4-3
• Frankie must score this otherwise the Hurricanes win. He steps up and oh a brilliant save by Jake and the Hurricanes win it! The Hurricanes win it! Brilliant save from Jake but unlucky for the White Wolves. Over to Match of the Day for the premier league highlights.

Orcas (also known as Killer Whales) are actually a species of dolphin, which are mammals. A male Orca can grow up to be 10 metres in length and weigh 10,000 kg. Orcas are very widespread around the world as they live inside every continent in the world but they live in close pods together. They can live between 50-90 years in the wild. The orcas’ large size and strength make them among the fastest marine mammals. They are able to reach speeds as fast as 30 knots (34mph or 57 kph). If you’ve ever heard about the way wolves hunt – in packs, coordinating their attack – then you have an idea of how orcas hunt too. It can be hard to watch orcas hunt, but there is no doubt they are skilled hunters. They’ve been known to beach themselves (slide out of the water onto the shore) to scare sea lions into the water where other killer whales are waiting to feed. Another technique is to deliberately cause a large wave in ice floes to throw their prey in the water, where they are easier to catch. They teach these techniques to their young in the process.
Did you know?
At least 55 orcas (killer whales) are held captive in marine parks around the world?
What’s your favourite sea mammal?
Since I was 5, I have known how to knit and to crochet. My grandma has taught me and I would love to share this wonderful talent with you. In this part of the Sarisbury Scoop, I will talk about knitting and crochet.
As you know, one of my hobbies is knitting which I will write about in this paragraph. It is an easy process If you know what to do!
The basic pattern is the pearl stich -it is the easiest stitch but beautiful. It is a series of bumps and flat parts. It is good for scarves and hats. The pattern alone is just pearling your stiches. You can have as many stiches as you like.
The second easiest pattern is the knit stitch It is a flat pattern and is good for scarves, hats, dishcloth, cloth and a rag. (It is good for beginners). Like the pearl, you can use as many stiches as you like.
Another knitting pattern is the stockinette- it is a very beautiful pattern. On one side It is the pearl stitch, on the other side It is the knit stitch. On one side it is bumpy, but on the other side it is flat. The pattern alone is just pearling one side: knitting the other side. Like the knitting pattern, you can add as many stiches as you like.
Another pattern is the Garter stitch. It is a beautiful pattern it is also good for beginners. It is good for scarves and hats and cloths. It is just like the pearl pattern but instead of pearling you knit the stitches for the pattern. The pattern is flat and bumpy just like the pearl pattern. Like the other pattern I wrote about you can cast on as many stiches as you like.
Another skill is lacing the stiches. It is a difficult thing to do in knitting. I would like to recommend this for advance knitters. It is a lovely skill to know for it can be a lovely decoration for a jumper (sleave and front).
Crochet has a lot of different styles and patterns for to have a variety to crochet, you can also crochet lots of things and give them to others who you love or as a present.
The most basic thing to know is the slip knot it is very simple. It is basically making a loop and taking the working yarn through the loop it is a start to the beginner’s item they are making.
The second most basic thing is the chain. You will have to put the slip knot on your crochet hook, and if your right-handed then read this but if your left-handed then I will leave some links for you, and the working yarn should be on the opposite side of you and on the left, you will rap the yarn around the hook, until it is on the same side as it started, and then pull the yarn though the loop and if needed you can tighten it by pulling the yarn.
The next thing you need to know is the double crochet. Keep the loop which you already have on the crochet hook, and raping another loop off yarn until it is on the other side of the crochet hook, then insert the hook in to the next stich and with your hook pull the yarn through the stich. Then you should have three stiches on your hook. Insert the yarn through two stiches, then you should have tow stiches, and again insert the yarn through tow and you have done the double crochet.
After you know how to do the double crochet you can learn the increase. The increase is just tow double crochets in one stich for to increase the width on the thing which you are making. You will keep the stich on the hook and rap a new stich on to the hook and insert the hook in to the next stich and with your hook pull the yarn through the stich. Then you should have three stiches on your hook. Insert the yarn through two stiches, then you should have tow stiches, and again insert the yarn through tow. Then another double crochet.

Amelia Bond was a mysterious girl, no one knew her identitynot even Amelia herself! But soon she would be known across the entire world!
This story starts at her school. “Almost there!” she said. She was the “odd girl” of her class, but she didn’t even know she was special to one person. That person came to school that day and when he saw her, he commanded, “You’re coming with me.”
“Who are you?” Amelia Bond asked, while they were walking to an island far away.
“My name is Detective Langdon and I am on the case of the Easter Bunny’s Island!” the man said. Amelia was confused. They had finally reached the island of the Easter Bunny! Amelia examined the place. She found some eggs.
“Don’t touch it! It will make you part of this island forever!”
Detective Langdon shouted. Amelia was confused again. She explored some more, while Detective Langdon surfed away from the island.
Suddenly Amelia Bond found the Easter Bunny. “Staying here is a good option,” he twitched. Amelia tried to leave but the Easter Bunny shouted something shocking!
“Detective Landon is evil!!!” Just in time for Amelia to accidently step on an egg!

• STEP 2
Tip on to a lightly floured surface and knead by holding the dough with one hand and stretching it with the heal of the other hand, then folding it back on itself. Repeat for 5 mins until smooth and elastic. Put the dough in a lightly oiled bowl. Cover with oiled cling film and leave to rise in a warm place for 1 hr or until doubled in size and a finger pressed into it leaves a dent.
• STEP 3
With the dough still in the bowl, tip in 75g sultanas, 50g mixed peel, zest of 1 orange, 1 finely chopped apple and 1 tsp ground cinnamon. Knead into the dough, making sure everything is well distributed. Leave to rise for 1 hr more, or until doubled in size, again covered by some well-oiled cling film to stop the dough getting a crust.
• STEP 4
Divide the dough into 15 even pieces (about 75g per piece). Roll each piece into a smooth ball on a lightly floured work surface. Arrange the buns on one or two baking trays lined with parchment, leaving enough space for the dough to expand. Cover (but don’t wrap) with more oiled cling film, or a clean tea towel, then set aside to prove for 1 hr more.
• STEP 5
Heat oven to 220C/200C fan/gas 7. Mix 75g plain flour with about 5 tbsp water to make the paste for the cross – add the water 1 tbsp at a time, so you add just enough for a thick paste. Spoon into a piping bag with a small nozzle. Pipe a line along each row of buns, then repeat in the other direction to create crosses. Bake for 20 mins on the middle shelf of the oven, until golden brown.
• STEP 6
Gently heat 3 tbsp apricot jam to melt, then sieve to get rid of any chunks. While the jam is still warm, brush over the top of the warm buns and leave to cool.
