Change is constant, and uncertainty can either be a barrier or a catalyst for growth. Ryan Straschnitzki shares his perspective on leadership in the face of the unknown, emphasizing adaptability, mindset, and decision-making. Drawing parallels between sports, recovery, and leadership, he illustrates how strong leadership emerges from resilience, human connection, and the ability to take action despite obstacles. Join Ryan as he opens the 2025 Fall Conference with ‘Leading Through Change:Turning Uncertainty Into Opportunity’ and leave with a renewed perspective on navigating change with confidence and clarity.

Ryan Straschnitzki, a former Humboldt Broncos hockey player during the 2018-2019 season, has faced significant challenges since becoming paraplegic. Committed to his rigorous physiotherapy, Ryan aims to walk again and currently competes as a member of Canada's para-ice hockey team, with aspirations of capturing gold.

He founded the Straz Strong charity to enhance the lives of those with disabilities. The organization, which has received substantial global support, focuses on creating accessible spaces and improving quality of life. Straz Strong's initiatives include funding for adaptive sports, providing affordable rehabilitation solutions, and raising social awareness about the challenges faced by individuals with disabilities.

While it may seem easy to simply tell others what to do, it often doesn’t build accountability Coaching others is one of the leadership tools and it doesn’t need to take a lot of time. You will also practice coaching and get feedback.

A: NAVIGATING CHANGE AND ENHANCING RESILIENCE, JENN MINOR JOHANNSON

A: NAVIGATING CHANGE AND ENHANCING RESILIENCE, JENN MINOR JOHANNSON

Change is constantly in front of us. There is the change we picked, which always feels more favourable and there is the change that feels like it ‘happened to us’, which is less than attractive We all respond differently, sometimes to the same information. Understanding what change does to us is a great self-awareness exercise. Knowing how we can strengthen our resilience to navigate the change is something that can be learned. In addition to how we personally respond, we may be looking to lead change within our teams. Join Jenn (of JMJ Coaching) as she shares the ways we often respond, and how we can strengthen those resilience muscles to feel more confident and comfortable. Leading change is another gift, and by understanding those we work with better, we can support them as they move through the change together.

B. THE FUTURE OF WORK: A ROADMAP FOR CHANGEREADY LEADERS TO SUCCEED IN AN AI-DRIVEN WORLD, GREGG BROWN

Register and join us for the annual SARC Awards Banquet, starting at 5:30 p.m. on October 21, where we will honour people and organizations from across the province who are committed to community development and inclusive employment.
