Expanding Our Use of Technology
Expanding
OUR USE OF TECHNOLOGY
One of the four priorities of SARC’s 2020 Strategic Plan is a focus on our technology. SARCAN is leveraging technology to improve communication with employees, customers, and other stakeholders. Using technology to enhance our communication with these groups allows us to keep SARCAN teams educated and informed in a timely manner, and it allows us to provide a more positive and responsive experience for customers based on their diverse needs.
Some of the technology initiatives SARCAN has launched as a result of SARC’s Strategic Plan include:
Expansion of email service to all SARCAN employees across Saskatchewan, including training on how to use email.
Expanded use of video conferencing software to host regular meetings, training sessions, and general information sessions.
Expansion of our network of video display advertising systems in depots, including two new locations in 2019.
More customer outreach through digital media, including social media platforms and digital advertisements.
Improved access to online resources through Connect, SARCAN’s intranet for Supervisors.
More training and education opportunities being offered to employees through Aspire, video conferencing, and other online platforms.
We are already seeing positive results from this commitment to improving our use of technology.
■ In our annual employee survey, the majority of respondents reported that they have greater access to information, have more confidence, and greater knowledge as a result of these improvements. ■ In the same survey, 86% of respondents stated that digital communication channels were the best way to share information with them. ■ Employees are happy, reporting improved confidence, improved skills. ■ These expanded communication channels were integral as our system shut down in March due to the
COVID-19 outbreak and have been an important resource to communicate with SARCAN employees and our customers throughout the closure and our reopening.
