In this 100-page issue – we have 14 Real Brides, that means 56 pages of weddings held across Upstate, NY. (Our coverage area is from the Adirondacks to the Northern Berkshires).
I couldn’t be happier with this magazine!
When I’m selling Saratoga BRIDE (Yes, every page represents the wedding offerings in Upstate NY!) I always ask people to read the testimonials on our (Award-Winning!) media kit and hear how much my readers appreciate having this resource.
Well… I came across these bits of advice (aimed at future brides, not wedding vendors) from our Real Brides and I had to share this up here...
If you love your vendors, make sure to take photos with them! They are the ones that pull your big day together and have been with you every step of the way. I wish I had made a point to do this!”
— I love this from Caitlin and Stephen, whose beautiful wedding held at The Barn at Lord Howe Valley is one of the many Real Brides you will see in this issue.
And…
…trust your vendors… you chose them for a reason. (You loved their work!!) Sometimes giving them a little bit of free reign with certain things allows for a truly unique and beautiful outcome. For instance, we gave our florist (Twin Dahlias) our vision and allowed her to take the reins while executing it. The outcome was even better than we could have imagined!”
— Catch a glimpse on page 19, then see Katherine and Patrick’s wedding on our site. I agree, stunning! Wait till you see this wedding (!!) and many more - on SaratogaBRIDE.com – as I always say….
The magazine is just the beginning! Happy Planning with #SaratogaBride!
PS... If you have pics with your vendors –tag us @SaratogaBRIDE

WHY WE SUGGEST ENGAGEMENT PHOTOS
DDid you know that most couples become engaged between Thanksgiving and Valentine’s Day? And one of the first things they do is have professional Engagement Photos created. As a Professional Wedding Photographer, I am a little biased when I say that Engagement Photos are a great idea. I actually think they are just as important as the wedding photos. Hopefully after reading this article, you will think so too!
WRITTEN & PHOTOGRAPHED BY SUSAN BLACKBURN
Engagement Photos Get You More Comfortable... In Front of the Camera
Unless you are a model, you have probably not been photographed by a professional photographer all that much. Selfies and pictures by your friend with the “good camera” don’t count either!
Many people feel uncomfortable when being photographed, and it can show in their body language and expressions. It can also be uncomfortable to pose with your significant other in an intimate way in front of someone you don’t know that well. As a Professional Wedding Photographer of many years, I understand this. I generally start with some very basic poses or maybe detail shots so I don’t overwhelm my couples. Having an Engagement Photo Session will help you get used to being photographed, so on your wedding day it is a bit more comfortable.
Document Your Relationship with Engagement Photos
Wedding Photos can be a little one dimensional in that they are often photographed in formal attire in a formal setting. While all weddings are beautiful and unique, they can sometimes be overwhelming for the couples too.
An Engagement Session can be an opportunity to showcase yourselves in a manner that may not necessarily lend itself to a more formal event. Engagement Photos will allow you to wear some different clothing options and include props and even pets to personalize your images. You can choose a location that is meaningful or even do them in your home. You can incorporate a favorite activity too! You can really let your true personalities shine through with a good Engagement Photo Session. I feel that great portraits tell the viewer something about the subjects in addition to a basic documentation of what they look like.
Carve Out Quality Time as a Couple
Planning a wedding can be super stressful. An Engagement Photo Session can give you a chance to reconnect and do something fun together! Consider it as a Date Night and go somewhere special after your session.
Preview Your Hair and Makeup Look at an Engagement Shoot
An Engagement Photo Session is an excellent time to preview Hair and Makeup. I have had many Brides schedule their trial run with their stylist on the day of the Engagement Shoot. You can then see from the photos how the look will translate in photos and if you need to adjust or change anything.
How You Can Use Your Engagement Photos
You will have some really beautiful photos to use for Save the Dates, Shower Thank Yous, your wedding website and other social media. You could make a small keepsake album or a guest signing book for the wedding. You might also like a larger portrait for your home or to give to your parents. After all, while you will love your Wedding Photos, your entire house should not be a shrine to the Wedding. : )

We're Engaged!
Angela +Jonathan DEPAUL CARUSO
Jonathan and I were planning on taking the helicopter for a ride from Saratoga to Lake George to get some fall foliage pictures on 10/19/2024 which ended up turning into the best day of my life.
Jonathan has his helicopter license and we try to go flying as much as possible.
We took the helicopter from Saratoga up to Buck Mountain in Lake George and landed on top. What I thought would be a quick photo session turned into our engagement after being together for seven years. It was perfect and the most beautiful backdrop for the proposal. Jonathan's sister actually hiked the mountain to be on top to take photos of the moment as well!!
We then went to brunch in Saratoga with his family and spent the day surrounded by loved ones.

HOLLA!
WRITTEN BY GARLAND NELSON SPONSORED CONTENT
Garland Nelson, your friendly neighborhood “Soulist” here.
For your wedding celebration, are you debating whether to hire a Band or a DJ? Why not have both?!
With all the wedding entertainment options available, I gotta go there and put my "25 cents" out in the world. Truth be told, some would think given that I'm a bandleader and lead crazy dude of one of the North East's topflight entertainment bands, that I'm shooting myself in the foot by asking this question. True... but not really.
In the case of Soul Session Edu-tainment, Inc, you literally get that with us, being both Live "Entertainer" & Emcee rocking the turntables (i.e. Laptops, LOL) within one performance. So, let’s “jump the broom,” and go all in with this question.
3. Bands provide entertainment options:
WHY SHOULD YOU HIRE A BAND?
1. Reason numero uno: They’re Entertainers:
This seems kinda obvious, but let’s break it down. Having a killer band at your function provides a unique "in the moment" signature to your event, non-cookie cutter. Anyone can press play on an iPod, but performing for your crowd elevates the energy of guests. They can engage the audience actively and change it up based on this interactivity. I can't tell you the number of times I hear someone out front yelling out from the dance floor, something that immediately ends up in my communication back to the audience.
2. Live Music:
How many DJ events have you attended where an outof-the-box song is played and the dance floor clears? Probably too many to count. But when a live band does the same thing, they have options. Of course, this depends on the skill of the band. But they can yell out "REMIX" and do something different before the song concludes. Another option is that they can "sell the performance" because it's live. The whole point behind live music is the ability to read and react. Can we say concerts? No band will ever play "September" by Earth, Wind, and Fire better than EWF. But that's not what you hired! You want a band's unique spin on that song, followed by a spin on another song, and another. This drives enthusiasm at your event.
This is Part B to the above point, but it deserves a pop out because of other musical needs such as ceremony, cocktail hour, reception, etc. Band businesses are typically equipped to cover this element seamlessly and at reasonable costs. For instance, Soul Session covers all these elements from within the band itself. The ability to play/sing classical music and range up to Wiz Khalifa live. All these elements have an impact on guest energy and vibe.
4. Pimp Factor (Ebonics translation: The Optics): When you walk into the event space, all pimped out and with your hair did, nothing says you mean business more than seeing a band off the dance floor. Yes, we may not want to admit that vanity matters, but when it looks and sounds the part, EVERYONE will call/email/text you after saying, "DAMN... this was straight awesomeness." Of course, not all bands are equal, but when you hire a band who's staging is straight pimped out, you can safely assume that they're professional and that they take the entire presentation seriously.
5. The front performers:
I held off on this until now because I didn't want to sound self-serving. Diverse entertainers in front of the band sells the musical experience. They bridge the gap regardless of audience age differences (i.e. grandma and great-grandson). They also hand the tambourine out for clappin' on the one and three (when it really should be two and four, LOL). PreCovid, they let you sing on the mic with your best Steve Erkel voice and not judge you for it; all while making you a part of the show. Based on the band you've selected, the primary front performers may be horns for example, meaning that your event style leans toward Chicago or KC and the Sunshine Band direction. If you desire more Country music for instance, maybe the front group has more acoustic and/or a fiddle. Either way, the strength of these front performers adds to the flavor of the show you desire!

Tracey Buyce Photography
WHY SHOULD YOU HIRE A DJ?
1. The most obvious reason is cost:
A great quality DJ (non-wedding) will run you anywhere between $1000-$1500, pending quantity of guests and sound system needs. This might be a well-known DJ playing whatever will build their brand. A wedding/event DJ ranges anywhere between $2000-$5000. This is wide, but several factors SHOULD inform the budget:
Number of meetings with DJ company before event date
Direct input on song selection before and during the event
Props
• Event Location:
(relative to DJ’s base of operations)
One - two hours radius
Backline PA needs if a DJ is a plane trip away
2. Musical Availability:
Simply put, a DJ can play anything at any time PERFECTLY. This becomes important when musical diversity is essential - "Hey Mr. DJ, can I request a song.... that new Albanian Jam that just came out last week?" This is often THE dividing issue between old school attendees verses new school dancers.
3. Spacing:
Not all venues are equal, when accommodating people, bar(s), food stations, dance floor, the head table. A DJ setup simply takes up less space than a band.
These are just a couple of general thoughts marking the difference between hiring a band or DJ.
BUT WHAT IF YOU CAN HAVE BOTH?
This is where Soul Session, the band featuring "Soulist" Garland Nelson comes in!
As I say repeatedly, we're not a wedding band but a band that plays weddings, events, corporate functions, showcases... you get the idea. Our musical approach on stage is DJ-like because our guests have wide ranging musical tastes. NO ONE checks one style anymore. Couple this with me being a DJ & EMCEE behind the wheels of steel, and it's on!
Your friendly neighborhood "Soulist" provides DJ services for events for up to 500 plus people. In addition, I provide event coordination and creative consulting roles as well, plotting and scheming the best ways of audience engagement months ahead of your celebration.
Mix in live music cocktail session with piano, guitar/vocals, and percussion to a full-tilt lighting and audio/visual experience, and you literally get a one-stop option.
A sample night could look like this: ceremonial live music duo, live cocktail ensemble, DJ reception with live dinner music, and solo live performance night cap somewhere else, LOL. Now this is pimped!
So, it may seem like I avoided the million-dollar question, but the question of hiring a band or a DJ is moot to us. WE DO BOTH — SEPARATELY or JOINTLY — IN THE SAME NIGHT if needed.
If you're interested in Soul Session Edu-tainment Inc’s services, which also now includes Officiant Minister Garland Nelson, please holla back. 2025-2027 dates are still available (mail@garlandnelson.com)
BIG UP to our fellow industry colleagues on both the DJ and Band sides. We're not in competition, but we're in collaboration in the Capital Region.
Stay safe and stay blessed. - WITH LOVE, G
Mocktails Matrimony! &
The “Must-Have” trend to include in your upcoming wedding!
WRITTEN BY RALPH VINCENT
Mocktails are all the go these days - especially at wedding celebrations. There is a myriad of reasons why these spirit-free libations are so popular. To start, serving mocktails at your wedding will promote a sense of inclusivity for all your guests. The "sober-curious" movement has led many folks to eschew spirited beverages and explore buzz free drink options instead. In addition, some guests may be the designated driver for a group or simply do not drink for health reasons. Having said that, you cannot go wrong with offering some imaginative and delish nonalcoholic drink options.
When it comes to mocktails the possibilities are endless! There are soooo many ingredients to choose from including fruit juices, sparkling water, coffee, tea, flavored simple-syrup and alcoholfree cocktail bitters. I always include bitters in my mocktail recipes to add a cocktail like complexity. There are many alcohol-free cocktail bitters to choose from and are easy to find online.
Trying out different ingredient combinations for your own signature wedding mocktail is a whole lot of fun. There are so many mocktail "how to" books and internet resources to draw inspiration from as well.
Don’t forget to give your mocktail creation a signature name as well. Brainstorm with your beloved and your friends to name your special drink. Think about the ingredients, your names, activities you enjoy together, and your wedding venue to get your creative juices flowing. It’s also nice to have signage with your mocktail name and ingredients on display.
If you are not yet into mocktail mixology simply use a recipe you like. I have included two of my wedding mocktail faves so feel free to use them. You can even say they are your own creations... I promise I won't tell!
• 3 ounces of pink cranberry juice cocktail
• 2 ounces of white grape juice
• 1 teaspoon of lime juice
• 2 dashes of alcohol-free orange cocktail bitters
• Sparkling water
• White seedless grapes to garnish
Mix the first five ingredients in batches for the number of drinks you need and chill.
To serve...
pour each drink into an ice filled white wine glass and top with a splash of sparkling water. Skewer three to four white grapes on a toothpick and float on top of the drink.
Lemon Lavender Love Potion
• 3 ounces of high-quality prepared lemonade
• 1 ounce of lavender simple syrup
• 2 dashes of alcohol-free lavender cocktail bitters
• Sparkling water
• Thin lemon slices and lavender sprigs to garnish Mix the first three ingredients in batches for the number of drinks you need and chill.
To serve... pour each drink into a Champagne flute until about 2/3 full. Tuck a lemon slice into the flute. Top with sparkling water to fill the glass and add a sprig of lavender.
Here
are a
few tips for mocktail success:
• Be sure to use glassware and garnishes that are appropriate for your cocktail creation. My mantra will always be... "Presentation is as important as flavor!” Remember we eat with our eyes as well as our mouths and the same holds true for what we drink.
• Be sure to use the freshest, high-quality ingredients.
Enjoy creating mocktails for your special day, and remember, it doesn't have to be perfect, it just has to taste good (and look even better!)

Trade-in the crash diets, drastic detoxes, hardcore workouts, and last-minute starvation tactics for a customized fitness routine, skincare, and nutrition plan that fits your individual goals, timeline, budget, and lifestyle.
In November, physical therapist and master personal trainer Nicole Rothe opened Body By Nicole at 2 Franklin Square, in Saratoga Springs. While tucked away just off Broadway in the brick basement level of a historic 1870 medical institute, she was voted Saratoga TODAY’s 2024 Best in the Region for teaching her clients how to build lean muscle, burn fat, and get strong (without “bulking up”) in a way that excels expectations. Through Nicole’s advanced training and mentoring, you’ll work out safely and effectively, improve your strength and flexibility, while boosting your overall health and wellness.
“I’ll take your hand and promise you, ‘you will get through this’,” said Nicole. “Brides have a lot going on before the wedding. This is the day they’ve dreamed about since they were little and playing dress-up. I want to help them make their dream come true by making them look and feel the best they can,” said Nicole.
Working with Body by Nicole changes more than your appearance - it changes your life. With sustainable workouts and realistic meal plans geared to your goals (at every age, and every stage of life) health emerges, igniting a flame that gives birth to generational beauty.
YOU GET ME
Since Nicole Rothe was a sports-obsessed 13-year-old, she dreamed of being a physical therapist. During her 30+year dream career, this New Jersey native has worked with major-league players including the New York Yankees, Giants, Knicks, Nets, and others, in addition to working with clients ono-on-one, couples, small groups, those recovering from injuries, pregnancy, and those with chronic conditions.
“We all have different goals and are all beautiful. I really work with, and focus on, you,” said Nicole, a straight shooter who guides with experience, a quick wit, and a personalized approach that keeps you on track. “Everyone loses weight differently, but they get focused on a number and get very frustrated,” said Nicole – which is why you won’t find a scale or BMI number chart in this gym.
Instead, Nicole teaches clients how to properly move using familiar equipment including free weights, BOSU balls, barres, steps, hoops, bands, and battle ropes. Her passion, drive, and determination supports clients through life’s changes, transforming their body so they can tackle challenges, celebrate milestones, and develop a sustainable health plan, together.
“I am breathing belief into them, maybe for the first time in their life, so they feel strong and incontrol,” said Nicole.
HAPPY WIFE, HAPPY LIFE
Body by Nicole helps you paint the picture of your special day, embrace your beauty, reduce stress, and create unforgettable memories. With this new-found confidence, you’ll start to feel stronger, better and improve your posture, to walk down the aisle differently.
Next to her bright, naturally-lit office, Nicole, who has been an Independent Sales Director with a leading global beauty and skincare company for decades, also helps clients revitalize their skin, enhance their makeup routine, and explore beauty trends in the welcoming reception area stocked with supplies from the “make-up bunker” (located next to the treatment room where clients receive relaxing massages and Nicole administers inflammation-reducing electrical stimulation therapy.
Get the vibrant health you’ve been dreaming of. Body By Nicole’s Grand Opening celebration will be in June. To find out more, follow @thepinkmamba on Facebook, @pinkmamba_nicole on Instagram and visit www.NicoleRothe.com

When an Industry Insider Gets Married
PHOTOS BY STEPHANIE LANNI PHOTOGRAPHY
Rory and I met in 2019 on the dating app Hinge. Our first date was the classic ice cream on a hot summer night. We laughed about the fact that my ice cream cone melted all over me because we couldn't stop talking. After that date we knew we wanted to spend more time together. As our relationship progressed, we knew someday we would marry. We got engaged on Aug. 25th, 2022, in one of our favorite places… Lake Placid!
It was a beautiful summer day and Rory even thought of including our dog in the proposal. One of the first questions Rory asked me after he proposed was "So, where are we getting married?" At that time, I hadn't put much thought into it. As we began planning and researching venues it became clear that we wanted to get married near one of our other favorite places… The beach!
One of our friends suggested looking into the St. Petersburg Beach area in Florida and one resort in particular… The Bellwether.
The hotel had recently been renovated to give it more of a Boutiquey - Miami vibe. We fell in love with the idea of having all our friends and family stay right at the same resort and making it a whole weekend celebration. The thought of planning a wedding that far away (I live in Saratoga and work at Lily Saratoga) was overwhelming at first but the more I researched and found vendors, the more confident I became that we would have our dream wedding.
When we finally met our vendors in person, we realized we made all the right choices. We wanted to stay true to the tropical vibe, so our florals were white orchids, anthuriums and green palms. Our wedding weekend started with the rehearsal dinner followed by the welcome party which was right at the beach bar. Live music, a perfect sunset and drinks were flowing. Saturday, the big day went off without a hitch. I had my Lily Saratoga ladies there to help me, my mom and my bridesmaids got ready and even helped bustle my gown when it was reception time. The ceremony was held on the beach, followed by cocktail hour and reception on the 10th floor overlooking the white sand beach and the Gulf of Mexico. Our wedding was a dream come true… Our vision was met and it's a day and weekend we want to relive over and over again.
Advice from the bride for planning a destination wedding...
Planning a destination wedding is not as overwhelming as you think. Try to not let it get the best of you and have fun with it! The venue has a list of suggested vendors. I knew I wanted the best of the best so I went through everyone's website and social media to find who would be the best fit for us and booked early!

Rory and I were close with our grandparents who have passed. We wanted to make them part of our day by placing a photo of each of them with a single white rose on a chair for the ceremony. My best friend Justin was our officiant.
We also had "D" napkins placed at each setting at our head table, we were able to keep them as not only a keepsake but to have for future parties or holidays at our home.
My stepfather is a huge cigar aficiando so we had a cigar rolling station set up during cocktail hour by Breezin' Entertainment. The cigars were a big hit!
We wanted to make sure our dog was included in the wedding so we had her face on the cocktail napkins.

Our Story...
Steven and I met in Rochester, NY in 2017, sharing a love for adventure and cats, luckily enough, his “weird” matched mine. I was studying for my exams to become a licensed architect; he was active-duty military, while attending college. Our lives fit together like two puzzle pieces. Together, we moved to Carthage, NY for Steven’s next duty assignment. This gave us an opportunity to kayak in new waters, hike different trails and get engaged!
Steven had coordinated with The Fern Lodge for quite some time and I didn’t think anything of our trip to Chestertown, as we had stayed at the Friends Lake Inn earlier that summer. I thought this was another one of our weekend getaways, until we went to enjoy the views of Friends Lake from the Fern Lodge’s boathouse. Rose petals were everywhere, I was in disbelief. I panicked, thinking I was intruding on someone else’s special moment and tried to quickly scurry away. Steven giggled as he told me this was for us. The boathouse had been decorated with roses, flower petals, white linens and chilled champagne. Of course, I said “yes!” and couldn’t stop grinning!
The Adirondacks and the Capital Region hold a special place in our hearts, it’s our home away from home. Choosing the Barn at Lord Howe Valley, with its beautiful mountain views, was the easiest decision. We couldn’t be more thankful for our amazing vendors and the immense love from our family and friends that traveled to celebrate with us.

ADVICE TO PASS ALONG...
• Be true to you as a couple during wedding planning. There will be many decisions and opinions. We planned our wedding to be very much "our" wedding and enjoyed every second of our big day. We have absolutely no regrets.
• This is a rare, fleeting moment in time when all of your loved ones are in "one room" together. Make sure to take time to sit back and soak in every ounce you can.
• If you love your vendors, make sure to take photos with them! They are the ones that pull your big day together and have been with you every step of the way. I wish I had made a point to do this!

Our cocktail hour playlist was rock music! We both share a love for rock and wanted to mix things up for our guests.
Each chapter of our life together has been started with a shot of tequila: when we started dating, when Steven proposed and when we said "I do!" at the arbor. 17 is my favorite number which coincidentally (and not so coincidentally) aligns with the dates of those milestones: 4.17.17, 9.17.22 and 5.17.24!
I'm an architect so design is very important to me. I took on making our invitations, drawing our table numbers and designing the rest of the signage set up throughout the venue.
Yellow is my favorite color which I expressed with pops of yellow through my bouquet, Steven's bowtie, the lemons on our cake, our napkins and small felt bees we had hidden around the venue for our guests to find!
We had a glow stick and LED glasses bar set up for our guests to enjoy. It was a huge hit!

Our Story...
It was a long shot that Aaron and I ended up together! Aaron grew up in Ballston Spa, NY and I was raised in Anchorage, AK - quite a bit apart.
We both ended up in the Baltimore area as part of previous long-term relationships. When those prior relationships came to an end, we stayed in Maryland for what were then our current jobs.
After time spent reflecting and healing, we decided to try our luck at online dating. Aaron loves to point out that I was the first woman he matched with; unfortunately, I wasn't so lucky! Our first date was at an Asian restaurant, fittingly named Ni Hoa (Chinese for “hello”), where I honed my chopsticks skills and Aaron took maybe a little too much delight in my struggle to feed myself.
Shortly after our first date, Aaron departed for a backpacking trip through the UK. We spoke on the phone every day and night. Distance definitely made the heart grow fonder! When Aaron got back from his trip, we spent nearly every day together and began planning our future. After eight months, in July 2023, Aaron asked me to marry him. Yes!!!
We were married near Aaron's hometown in Upstate New York. The day couldn’t have been more beautiful! The rain cleared just in time for our outdoor ceremony and there were big, beautiful orbs of poplar seeds floating through the air. It really was magical!
Then, the next day it was off to Switzerland for our honeymoon…

Our Story...
Daniel and I met on a dating app in early 2019 when we were both living in Stamford, Connecticut. We quickly figured out that we wanted to spend nearly all our free time together. A little over a year later, the pandemic hit, and it was an easy decision that we'd be in each other's bubble.
We often worked remotely together -out of a tiny studio apartment- but after making it work for the first six months of the pandemic; we were ready to sign a lease …together!
In October 2022, Daniel and I were up in the Saratoga Area visiting my family, when we decided to head up to Bolton Landing and do a short hike called "The Pinnacle,” (near Cat Mountain). There was barely anybody on the trail, we even saw a deer! When we got to the top, there was a bench. We sat down and Daniel started talking about our relationship and the time he knew that we were going to last… and then he proposed!
It was such a beautiful moment, and since the Adirondacks mean so much to us, it was just perfect.
Because it's where my family is from, and accessible to Daniel's family in New Jersey, we decided we wanted to get married in the Capital Region. We looked at venues in Lake George, Saratoga, and Glens Falls, but ended up choosing the Saratoga Winery because of the beautiful outdoor surroundings as well as the lovely event space of the Wine Barn!
We loved that Saratoga Winery was our ceremony space, reception venue, and caterer! We had the most perfect weather for our wedding, and the vendors, (as well as the fabulous wedding party!) came together seamlessly to make it a day that was so much fun …and truly felt like us!

Our Story...
Shawn and I met through a mutual friend back while we were all working in Lake George. I had just graduated college earlier that year and was still trying to find my footing, a serious relationship was not on my radar. So, when my friend told me she wanted to introduce me to someone, I was only humoring her when I agreed. However…
As soon as I met Shawn, I knew he was unlike anyone I'd met before. Before long, my dog and I moved into Shawn's apartment, and we adopted another puppy from the SPCA. Yes… tight quarters!
In 2020 after being in quarantine for months, we decided we wanted to buy a house. We only looked at four choices, before finding "the one." We spent all our weekends over the next couple of years making the place our own.
This is why when it came to planning our engagement, Shawn couldn't imagine proposing anywhere else. We took our time planning our wedding which allowed us to be very intentional in every decision we made. We chose The Queensbury Hotel in Glens Falls as our venue as Glens Falls is where our story began. The Q is absolutely gorgeous and when we saw the huge stone fireplace, we knew we had our venue!
Once we had secured that, everything else fell into place. Our wedding day was the perfect representation of us as a couple and I truly wish I could relive the day once more. Not a single detail was missing and I'm so grateful to all who made it possible! • WEDDING DATE

Our Story...
Stephen and I met at Clarkson University during the summer of 2018, when he was asked to give a prospective student a campus tour (spoiler: it was me!). Fast forward a few months, we wound up sitting next to each other in class, formed a wonderful group of friends and began spending a lot of time together. Eventually I plucked up the courage to ask him out and in return, he planned a magical first date in Lake Placid on a snowy day in January.
We went on to graduate with our MBAs, find our first jobs, and spent two years long distance until finally in 2021, we moved to Saratoga Springs with our 'girls’ Kaya and Daisy. After four years of dating, Stephen proposed to me at my childhood home in Windham, NY. He secretly took a day off and with the help of my father and brother, set up a beautiful spot in the woods with a trail of candles and lights leading up to it. It was a dream come true!
We spent the next year working together to plan the wedding of our dreams. When the day finally arrived, we could not have asked for a more perfect celebration. Completely unplanned, we both wrote a pinky promise into our final vow and proceeded to laugh, cry, and dance the night away with all our loved ones at our sides. We are so grateful for the support of our wonderful family, friends and vendors who made it all possible!

ADVICE TO PASS ALONG...
• Yes, the day is going to fly by! Plan a moment where it's just you two to take it all in. We snuck away for a few minutes after the ceremony and spent the time laughing over a glass of champagne.
• Wedding planning is hard! If you are like us and want do to some or all of it yourself, try planning date nights around tasks –creating a playlist, tasting cake samples, designing stationary, writing vows, making the seating chart and more! We would make a nice dinner, open a bottle of wine and get to planning. It was really special and we made so many wonderful memories during that time.
• One practical tip would be to make a new shared email account exclusive for wedding related things! I don't know about you, but my personal email is cluttered. This made the process so much easier and after the wedding we continued to use that account for shared activities, for example planning our honeymoon and buying our first home together!
• SPECIAL TOUCHES •
We asked our Grandmas Grace & Barbara to be our flower 'ladies.'
We did a lot of the planning together including choreographing our first dance, handmaking our invitation suite and writing our ceremony script. We customized the unity ceremony to incorporate our cultural backgrounds (Scottish Handfasting for Stephen & Greek Crowning for Katherine).
My pearl necklace was a heirloom gifted by my grandmother Grace and the pearl earrings were handmade by my mother Claudia.
We provided disposable cameras for our guests and we are so glad we did because there were so many amazing and hilarious pictures. We also took a camera to all of the events leading up to the wedding and to our honeymoon after. Going through the photos and discovering what was taken was so much fun!

Our Story...
Joseph and I met at the start of freshman year at college in Florida in August of 2020, far from our hometowns in Maine and New York. Being in the same friend group, we grew to like each other, which led to many long phone calls throughout the following summer. We shared our stories and became very close. As soon as we returned to Florida for our second year, we started dating!
During Easter of 2023 at the end of our junior year of college, we traveled to my home in upstate New York to spend Easter with my family and talk with my parents about our decision to get married. After a heartfelt discussion the Saturday before Easter Sunday, Joe mentioned that he would be proposing soon, which I thought meant back in Florida on a beach in about a month.
Much to my surprise, the very next day at my grandparents' house, surrounded by my family, Joe made an announcement at dinner and asked me to marry him! I was so shocked that it took a few minutes for the realization and excitement to set in! It was so perfect, and I was so impressed and happy. I couldn't think of a better way to get engaged, surrounded by the people I love most!
Our wedding day was absolutely perfect, thanks to the love and hard work of our family, friends, and vendors. We are so thankful for everyone who supported us and made it such a wonderful, love-filled, happy day.

• Be present! Put away your phone for the day.
• Have a problem solver. Pick one person to be the appointed person for vendors and guests to go to with questions on the big day, that way you don't have to worry.
• Taking pictures with your mind was one of the best pieces of advice I received. Be intentional and conscious of little moments you want to remember; your partner's eyes during your vows, your family and friends dancing around you, your maid of honor or best man during their toasts. You will carry these mental pictures with you for the rest of your life. I can recall them so easily, and now I have such precious moments stored in my mind!

Our Story...
Jeff and I first met in the fall of 2016. On our initial date, we both had low expectations. However, after hours of engaging conversation, we ended up closing the restaurant three hours later. We discovered we had a lot in common: our shared love for music, similar interests, and many mutual friends. Unfortunately, the timing was not right for either of us at that moment.
Fast forward five years to fall 2021, when Jeff unexpectedly reached out. We had our "second first date" nearly to the day. Once again, we connected instantly. From the moment he picked me up to the long-awaited kiss goodnight, the chemistry was palpable.
In October 2022, a year later, we dined at Beardslee Castle, a place we had both wanted to visit. As we opened the castle door for a sunset photo, "Everlong" by the Foo Fighters played, and to my shock, a giant wooden "Marry Me" sign greeted us! Jeff knelt to propose, but I quickly suggested he stand up and put the ring on my finger.
On July 5, 2024, we celebrated our love with an intimate outdoor wedding ceremony on the Sun Patio of The Gideon Putnam. It was the perfect setting for us. We are immensely grateful for the incredible vendors who helped make our day seamless and beautiful. Our wedding day was everything we had hoped for and more, filled with love and joy.

ADVICE TO PASS ALONG...
Try to stay in the moment on the day of your wedding. Take deep breaths and take it all in! Things may go wrong but many things will go perfectly. Respectfully, while many people will share their opinion on what they feel you should do on your wedding day, ultimately what's most important is to do whatever you BOTH want.
• SPECIAL TOUCHES •
A special thanks to Mike Panza owner of Panza's Restaurant in downtown Saratoga who helped us celebrateour "Red, White and I Do" rehearsal dinner on July 4th. Such a fabulous dinner in The Cave area of the restaurant. Simply delicious and incredible setting. Fireworks were enjoyed by all on Broadway later that evening.
"Everlong" by The Foo Fighters (acoustic version) was the bride's walk down the aisle song performed by violinist Brooke Vincent from Saratoga Violin. This has always been a special song to us and seven months after dating Jeff had the title tattooed on his arm.
I was incredibly honored to have my brother Tony walk me down the aisle. He had big shoes to fill as our father and my number one hero recently passed. My brother stretched out a pair of my dad's shoes and wore them to in essence to have my dad walk me down the aisle.
My father's wife Laurie had taken one of my dad's navy blue ties and made it into a lovely bouquet holder so it was my something blue.
Drue Sanders made a custom necklace that held my mother's diamond engagement stone which I saved to wear on our wedding day.

Our Story...
We first met and became friends in grade school!
After coming home from college one Thanksgiving weekend, we ran into each other for the first time in years and haven't left each other alone since. We spent the next year taking turns visiting each other while I finished pharmacy school in Queens, NY and he was in Boston, MA preparing to enter dental school.
Our love for travel, and hiking different national parks, made long distance dating feasible. However, shortly after getting licensed, I moved out to San Francisco, CA to join Chris as he completed dental school. We spent about two adventurous years living there. Just before he graduated, he proposed to me at our favorite winery on a mountain top tasting. I was so surprised, impressed and overwhelmed with love.
We immediately moved back to Upstate NY and began the wedding planning process. Even though I toured multiple venue spaces, I could not stop envisioning my day at Fort William Henry's new and improved Carriage House. Our day was undeniably perfect for us, we could not be more thankful and appreciative to our parents, wedding party and vendors. They made the day seamless, enjoyable and unforgettable!

Our Story...
Patrick and Lisa are both from Upstate New York, but their paths didn't cross until they had both moved away for their careers and then serendipitously…moved back upstate.
They matched on Bumble in 2017 and have been together ever since.
Lisa, a designer at Victoria's Secret, in New York City, before moving back upstate to become Creative Director for Beekman 1802, is currently a Senior Art Director for e.l.f. Beauty, working remotely from her home and traveling to the city for business.
Patrick attended Medical School in Michigan, then completed his residency at Albany Medical Center. He currently is an Anesthesiologist at Saint Mary's Hospital in Amsterdam.
They are a fun-loving couple who enjoy trying new restaurants, house music, and hanging out with friends.
The couple chose the Canfield Casino in Congress Park because of its beautiful and intricate historic rooms. The venue itself did not need much décor, having so much character already, and all the details and design elements were created around the venue's look and feel, to help enhance the environment.
The wedding day could not have gone any better, their team of vendors worked seamlessly to bring Lisa's vision to life and create a magical, intimate experience for 130 of their closest friends and family.

Plan whatever feels authentic to your story and what resonates with you. There are few times in our lives when we get to have a celebration that’s all about us, and for a big milestone like this, it’s important to enjoy it and allow yourself to be a bit selfish.
Lastly, if you're doing most of your own planning, it's crucial to have a clear vision of what you want and be able to communicate that vision to your vendors. If you’re unsure about this, hire a planner. And if you're thinking you will be able to manage the day-of logistics on your own, I strongly recommend hiring a day-of coordinator. With such a tight timeline, it’s nearly impossible for the couple or anyone in the wedding party to manage everything the day of.
Oh, one last thing… don’t leave each other’s sides the entire day!

• We didn’t do the traditional first look, but opened our doors at the same time, and he helped me put my shoes on.
• I knew I didn’t want a traditional champagne table entrance to the cocktail hour, so I hired the performer, Jessica Black, a super talented aerialist. We did a champagne skirt for cocktail hour and then she did an aerial performance in the ballroom as guests were taking their seats. I knew it would add an element of surprise and help get the party started, and our guests loved how unique and entertaining it was!
• Instead of a Photo Booth, we did selfie lights and a link to WediBox, so our guests could upload photos and videos.
• We rehearsed the Venetian Waltz for six months! After we saw the venue, I knew we had to do a coordinated dance, but I didn’t want to do anything too forced or awkward. The Waltz is classy and timeless, and even though it was a lot of work and very challenging, we ended up nailing it and we think it turned out great! Plus, it was something we learned together.
• Professional video – I was on the fence about hiring a videographer but I’m SO glad I did, looking forward to sharing that with our children and grandchildren someday! It really helps to relive the day. Leann did a great job, and I would 100% recommend her. The high-end video is unmatched.
• We didn’t do favors, just an open bar all night ;)
• We customized the meals with Nicole’s Catering. They are hands-down the best wedding caterer in the Capital Region. No one ever waited in line for a drink, our guests told us how amazing the food was, the portions were large, the meals were fresh and cooked on site, and the staff is chef’s kiss 10000/10. Could not have done the day without them!
• We had affogato along with cake as dessert (my favorite and a nice pick me up after dinner and drinks).

Our Story...
I met George while he was playing wingman for his friend who liked me. Worst. Wingman. Ever.
At that time, each of our lives were busy with work and family. It wasn't until a few months later that we began spending more time together. We would visit each other's apartments, cook extravagant meals, and try to impress and pamper one another.
A year later, he moved into my apartment in Glens Falls, and shortly after, the world shut down from COVID. Our relationship was tested, and we passed with flying colors. Fast forward to a beautiful summer day in 2023, we were camping with family and George asked me to take a walk with him. He made his heartfelt proposal on the picturesque pergola at the beach of Hearthstone Campground on Lake George. Returning to camp, we were met with an outpouring of joy, champagne and warm embraces, a celebration fitting for the beginning of our forever together.
On July 19th, 2024, eagles danced in the sunny blue skies as we said "I Do" in front of our beloved friends and family on Neshobe Island of Lake Bomoseen Lodge. The reception took place in the exquisite lodge. The high vaulted ceilings with exposed beams embodied the rustic elegance we envisioned for our special day. Graced by the dedication of our wonderful vendors and the exceptional staff at Lake Bomoseen Lodge, we were truly blessed to have our dream wedding become a reality.

As you plan your wedding, do everything out of love, not obligation. If anyone is unhappy with the choices you make for your own wedding, well that is simply none of your business. Choose those who truly care about you to join your bridal party. Choose your vendors carefully. Lastly, understand that when your big day comes, none of the tiny details are going to matter. So let go, be present, and enjoy the special bond you are creating with your partner, surrounded by loved ones. This day only happens once.

Our Story...
Jen & Greg's love story is not your traditional one...the story began when Jen was home for the weekend visiting her parents. She was at The Tipsy Moose (a local hometown spot) having drinks with them when she started talking to two ladies at the bar (Greg's Mom, Lorrie, and her friend Kathy). They asked if she was single, and they started to talk about their sons! Long story short, Jen started texting Greg when she was on the train back to New York City. The conversation was so easy and fun that Jen eventually decided to invite Greg to her friend's party in the city the following weekend. Greg said yes and from that day forward they were inseparable! While in the beginning they were long distance and just getting to know each other, COVID quickly changed that, and Jen was able to be upstate and spend more time with Greg. It didn't take long before Jen left the city, but NYC will always have a special place in their heart since that's where they met and fell in love …and where Greg proposed!
Old Daley on Crooked Lake was the perfect place to get married as it was a mix of their aesthetic goals (and close to family and friends!) -being the definition of an effortlessly beautiful venue, with the whimsical weeping willows on the lake where Greg and Jen's ceremony took place, to the natural lighting and traditional oak running throughout the ballroom, it did not take much effort to tie into the classic romantic themed wedding they were imaging. Jen wanted minimal colors and natural accents and just touches of white and gold to up the elegant vibe.

Our Story...
Benjamin and I met at the Gurney Lane Recreation Center in the summer of 2010 where we taught swimming lessons together. At first, we were just friendly coworkers but quickly became close friends. We stayed in touch throughout high school, occasionally catching up over frozen yogurt or Friendly's. Though stretches of time passed without us seeing each other, we always seemed to pick up right where we left off.
Ben and I ended up attending the same college, SUNY Geneseo, where I gave him his official college tour. After I graduated and moved to New York City, I even had to let Ben stay on my couch while he was closing on an apartment ahead of his own move to New York. At one point, Ben seemed to be following me through every chapter of my life.
After four years of living in New York, the pandemic came, and the appeal of the city vanished, I moved upstate to Saratoga Springs. During this time, Ben would often take the train back upstate, seeking a reprieve from the city and some much-needed fresh air. From time spent together during this period, our relationship finally took the next step.
We got engaged in the fall of 2022 and two years later, we grew together to create a family of our own, including raising our beloved dog, Eden. Our wedding day was perfect, and we were so happy to celebrate our life-long love with those closest to us.

ADVICE TO PASS ALONG...
Things may not go exactly as planned leading up to the wedding, but even so you can still have a perfect day. When you wake up the morning of your wedding, make a conscious decision to be okay with whatever happens that day so that the little things that may come up don't take away from your day.

REHEARSAL DINNER
Gurney Lane Recreation Center in Queensbury (which is where the bride and groom met each other as their summer job as lifeguards in 2010) catered by Chipotle.
WELCOME PARTY
for all of our wedding guests at the Common Roots Bierhouse in South Glens Falls.
Our dog, a bernedoodle named Eden, was escorted down the aisle by the groom's dad (her best friend). Our two custom cocktail drinks were named Garden of Eden (after her) and Public Pool (a nod to where the bride and groom first met). We also made custom wood-burned drink stirrers with Eden's image on them.

Our Story...
Tyler and I met through mutual friends the summer of 2018 at a Jason Aldean concert at SPAC. At the time, Tyler was living on Long Island, and I was attending school at Siena College. Tyler's career entailed working two weeks on/two weeks off …on a tug boat. Although the distance and work schedule was tricky at times, Tyler and I were determined to set aside weekends to spend time together. We both love the saying, "when you know, you know" because we both KNEW we were meant for each other.
After a few months of dating, Tyler made the decision to move upstate. Our relationship continued to grow stronger. When Tyler was home from working on the boat, we would plan time to visit his family on Long Island.
After four years of dating, Tyler proposed at my lake house in Caroga Lake. The beach was covered in rose petals and the sunset was perfect. Two years later we had our wedding in Saratoga Springs, the perfect location as this was where our relationship began.
Tyler and I both agree that our wedding day was the best day of our lives and will always be so memorable for us. We were so thankful to have our family and friends there to celebrate with us. We also appreciate the support from all our vendors in bringing what we envisioned for our day… come to life!

Tyler and I did a "photo dash" which entailed us going to each table at the reception to pose and take a fun photo. It was a great way to get a photo with everyone!
We had napkins at the cocktail hour that had fun facts about Tyler and I.
The bridesmaids were my something blue!
We had an old phone by our guest book that let our guests leave us voice messages. This was included with our DJ.
During the reception, at the very end of the night, we had every guest line up on both sides of the entrance of the tent and hold up their phones with their flashlights on. Tyler and I walked through to the song "New York, New York" by Frank Sinatra. It was a great and fun way to end the night!

Our Story...
I moved to Boston in 2016 for what I thought would be a short-term adventure. Instead, I built a life filled with a rewarding career and amazing friends. After the pandemic, I decided to explore the dating scene and met Nick on Hinge.
Our first date, at a charming Boston restaurant, ended with espresso martinis and a spark.
We spent the fall exploring the city together… trying new restaurants, walking with my dog Ellie, and even braving a haunted house. As our relationship deepened, I introduced Nick to my family in upstate New York. We explored Saratoga Springs, a place close to my heart, and visited the iconic Saratoga Race Course. Horses and racing have been a big part of my life since childhood, thanks to my dad who trained Thoroughbreds. Nick was immediately captivated by the energy and excitement of the track.
When Nick proposed, we were thrilled to discover that Saratoga Race Course hosted weddings! Mazzone Hospitality made our dream a reality, helping us plan an intimate ceremony in the paddock and a reception on the 2nd floor of the 1863 Club. Their team was incredible, guiding us through every detail with ease and offering a delicious food tasting that showcased their culinary talents.
Thanks to their support (and a surprisingly helpful wedding attendant!), I was a calm and collected bride. Our wedding day was truly magical, filled with love, laughter, and the undeniable thrill of starting our forever, at a place so special to me.

REHEARSAL DINNER
The Brook Tavern
The gold horseshoe place settings and favors were a huge hit. All of our friends and family have been displaying them in their homes for good luck. We also had a bowl of bubbles (Esty) for guests to take as they walk in, so they could blow bubbles right after the "I Dos." They were cheap and cute and I love how the bubble photos turned out. Additionally, Mazzone created a special logo with our names and wedding date and had it shown on every screen throughout the track including the infield. It was exciting for our guests to see and made us feel so special.
