Rosewell Visitor Center, Gloucester $20 With its 300 year history, the Rosewell Ruins exist today as a relic of America’s fabled past. From the earliest Native Americans to the post-Civil War industrialization, American history was forged at Rosewell. This course will take a chronological walk through the history of Rosewell and discover why Rosewell today stands as one of America’s most important historical sites and is referred to as America’s “Most Magnificent Mansion.”

RCC Glenns Campus $35 As we age, our financial priorities, decisions, and investment options change. This course is designed to help you navigate the basics of finances, wealth management, asset allocation, and income generation. This course will cover all of the entrylevel information you need to feel confident and educated in the management of your finances and investment decisions.

COURSE INSTRUCTOR: Clayton W. James, CFM, is a registered financial advisor and serves as the Managing Director of Jamestowne Investments, LLC. Clayton graduated from Hampden Sydney College in 1991 with a bachelor’s degree in mathematical economics, and has been helping investors in the investment management industry since 2003. Mr. James is currently Roswell’s President.

RCC Kilmarnock Center $35 Do you wonder what the different lights on your dashboard are telling you? Sometimes think the mechanic is just taking your money? The goal of this course is to help you become an educated and confident car owner and driver. Learn how to recognize trouble before a costly breakdown, how to drive safely in adverse conditions, how to save money on repairs, and more. In simple, non-technical language you’ll explore all aspects of your car from sounds, smells, dashboard lights, leaks, etc. Get tips on how to spot rip-offs and speak the same language as your car mechanic. Car Smart is designed for all car owners, new and veteran, young and old.

COURSE INSTRUCTOR: Bob Cerullo is an award-winning journalist, nationally known automotive writer, radio commentator, and author. He is an ASE Certified Automotive Technician and SAE Affiliate Member. Bob “The Car Guy” Cerullo has appeared on the David Letterman Show, ABC Nightly News, Good Morning America, and many other nationally recognized TV shows as well as radio shows. He is the author of several best-selling books, including “What’s Wrong with My Car,” “Shake, Rattle or Roll?” and “Don’t Get Stuck with a Lemon!” Currently, Bob’s radio show, “Interesting People Doing Interesting Things,” can be heard on WWND 103.9 Windy Radio.

Using Feng Shui to Clear Clutter 1-3pm

FRIDAY: 3/22 RCC Kilmarnock Center

$20 Clutter is a universal problem in our busy world. Clearing clutter can change your life but can be difficult to do. There are so many decisions to make about each item and then what do you do with it all? In this class you will learn principles of feng shui to use as your guide to clearing your clutter more easily. Feng shui is the art of arranging your space to enhance your life.

COURSE INSTRUCTOR: Debbie Bowie has been described as an “organizing angel” by clients. She has helped thousands of individuals clear clutter to make room for new opportunities and dreams to manifest in their lives. Debbie is a Certified Professional Organizer ®, a Certified Organizer Coach® specializing in ADHD, feng shui practitioner, a professional speaker and the author of two books, “From Cluttered to Clear in Just One Year: Your Room-by-Rooms Home Makeover” and “Rock Scissors Paper: Understanding How Environment Affects Your Performance on a Daily Basis.”

Activities for a Smart Brain FRIDAY: 4/5 and 4/12

10am-Noon

RCC Warsaw and Glenns Campus $35 As we mature, our brain undergoes changes that result in processing of information being less efficient. This interactive class will highlight research proven methods to help increase brain efficiency. Participants will participate in various handson activities and receive information on brain anatomy and physiology. Dr. Hill will deliver the course on the Warsaw campus and through interactive video to the Glenns campus.

COURSE INSTRUCTOR: Lisa K. Hill, Ph.D., is a professor of psychology at Rappahannock Community College. She has a bachelor’s degree in psychology from Tennessee State University, a Master’s degree in clinical psychology from Fisk University, and a doctorate from Howard University in developmental psychology with a minor in neuropsychology. She has been teaching more than 15 years and has conducted research on various aspects of development.

A program of Rappahannock Community College’s Educational Foundation Mission: Recognizing that a vigorous mind is as necessary to a full life as are physical exercise and social relationships, RILL offers educational opportunities and intellectual enrichment for adults of any age. In a stimulating classroom environment, participants can acquire new knowledge, explore ideas, and share interests and experiences with like-minded community members. Classes: RILL’s noncredit college-level classes are held in several convenient locations within RCC’s service region. Some instructors may suggest specific preliminary reading material to prepare students to get the most from the course. This will be sent to registered students. The courses do not require prerequisites nor have tests. Evaluations by participants will provide valuable feedback for future offerings.
