Last week, the Year 9 Drama class visited the OnSTAGE 2024 Exhibition and Performances at the Seymour Centre. OnSTAGE is presented by NESA and showcases HSC excellence from selected students all over NSW. We were delighted to view Santa Sophia's very own HSC Drama student, Meenal Nandhini and her selected Individual Project in Promotion & Program on exhibit! Her outstanding design for the Indigenous play Waltzing the Wilarra was an inspiration and she was involved in the Certificate Ceremony on Friday evening. The Year 9 students enjoyed the live show of individual monologues and group performances, walking away excited about exploring all that elective drama has to offer.

We are excited to share that our K-4 students have been enthusiastically participating in our Gymnastics Program this term, facilitated fortnightly for each grade by specialist teachers from Zing Activ! Our students have been having so much fun as they explore new movement skills and tackle challenges with growing confidence The program teaches children different ways to move their bodies safely while developing essential physical attributes like strength, flexibility, balance, coordination, and agility. These foundational skills not only support their gymnastics development but transfer to many other sports and physical activities. Our students have particularly enjoyed using the specialised equipment provided by Zing to use in each session From mini trampolines to balance beams, the children are learning through fun, ageappropriate activities that keep them motivated and excited to participate.
Beyond the physical benefits of gymastics, this program also fosters:
Teamwork abilities through partner and group activities
Self-confidence as they master new skills
Problem-solving when approaching movement challenges
Social skills as they learn to participate safely and respectfully with others
The children are progressing through activities like tuck rocks, egg rolls, bunny hops, cartwheel progressions, and various balance exercises all tailored to their developmental stage. Many students have expressed how much they enjoy the program and look forward to gymnastics day each fortnight
We encourage you to ask your child about their favourite gymnastics activities and the new skills they're developing.

In the School of Connect (Year 5-8), lunchtime clubs in middle school foster essential connections, creating a supportive and inclusive school environment. These clubs, where teachers volunteer their own time freely, facilitate smooth transitions, helping students build friendships and cultivate a deep sense of belonging. By participating in extracurricular activities, students feel valued and more engaged academically. Teachers running these clubs break traditional barriers, strengthening relationships with students while modelling positive social behaviour. Ultimately, clubs in the School of Connect, enhance emotional wellbeing, promote resilience, and contribute to a nurturing atmosphere that supports both personal and academic growth Students feedback on why they enjoy the clubs include:
Student responses to why they love “Clubs” in the School of Connect - because we play with our friends, hang out with our friends, it’s fun, it’s interesting, helps us make new friends, everyone includes each other, we get to play games we know and do new activities.
