What have we been doing in maths this term How we have been doing our learning this term How does this way of learning help your understanding of maths concepts This term in maths we have focused on volume, cubic centimetres, money, time and budgeting. We have done lots of hands-on activities with volume and cubic centimetres and we did a bit of book work too. With money we are comparing which sale is better to buy by using different strategies like multiplication and division. We were doing a budgeting activity where we had to see how much money our family would spend on the Taronga Western Plains Zoo Menu. Our latest activity was a time activity where we had to make an agenda that had to fit into a 4 hour time slot at the zoo. We’ve continued to do sweaty brain time every day at the start of each lesson. We’ve been given more independent time to do tasks and to share our ideas with our peers. We get to sit with a partner of our choice (like last term) and another pair of people. This way of learning helps students understand maths concepts better by allowing them to engage in hands-on activities, work independently with peers, and practice using strategies like multiplication and division. YES Program TAFE Courses TAFE YES Programs, or Youth Engagement Programs, are a partnership between TAFE NSW and schools offering secondary students the chance to participate in an engaging industry experience. Their aim is to reenergise students, so they love learning and become familiar with future career options.
ALL SAINTS DAY 2023 On Wednesday 1st November, Santa Sophia College marks All Saints Day with a heartfelt Liturgy of the Word, embracing the spirit of curiosity. May the saints watch over our students and teachers on this special occasion.
At Santa Sophia this year ten Year 10 students have enjoyed 7 courses of 6-8 weeks duration across Western Sydney and Sydney Region TAFEs.

Response
A caring and supportive school culture that promotes positive relationships and reflects Gospel teachings is a core aspect in the prevention of and response to incidents of bullying. This is only possible when there is a positive relationship between parents and the school. Bullying behaviours are in conflict with core values of the Catholic faith including dignity, respect, justice, equity, and compassion. Bullying can adversely affect the wellbeing of students and is always unacceptable. School bullying is the single-most important modifiable risk factor for mental illness in children and adolescents. (Scott et al. 2014). 1 Therefore, successfully preventing and responding to bullying will have positive, life-long benefits.

Governed by the principles of the Student Wellbeing Policy, this document guides the work of school leaders, staff, students and parents/carers to enable them to work together to create learning communities characterised by safe and respectful 3 relationships. It also directs how schools must work to prevent and address issues of student bullying and to respond effectively, fairly and sensitively to the needs of each person involved.
Leaving Period What do I need to do if I want to withdraw my child from the school and what fees do I need to pay? I understand and agree that I must give the school at least ONE School term's written notice of my intention to withdraw my child's enrolment at the school. I understand this does not apply if my child s leaving the school because they have completed Year 6 or Year 12 at the school. I understand and agree that I must pay ONE school's term's fees if I do not give the school this written notice at least one school term before my child's withdrawal. I understand tat one school term means 10 school weeks.
