What have we been doing in maths this term How we have been doing our learning this term How does this way of learning help your understanding of maths concepts This term in maths we have focused on volume, cubic centimetres, money, time and budgeting. We have done lots of hands-on activities with volume and cubic centimetres and we did a bit of book work too. With money we are comparing which sale is better to buy by using different strategies like multiplication and division. We were doing a budgeting activity where we had to see how much money our family would spend on the Taronga Western Plains Zoo Menu. Our latest activity was a time activity where we had to make an agenda that had to fit into a 4 hour time slot at the zoo. We’ve continued to do sweaty brain time every day at the start of each lesson. We’ve been given more independent time to do tasks and to share our ideas with our peers. We get to sit with a partner of our choice (like last term) and another pair of people. This way of learning helps students understand maths concepts better by allowing them to engage in hands-on activities, work independently with peers, and practice using strategies like multiplication and division.
