YEAR 12 LEARNER COMPETENCY CREDENTIAL 2023 As Santa Sophia Catholic College prepares to celebrate the achievements of our foundational Year 12 cohort with their HSC results, we are thrilled to enhance their academic accomplishments with the Australian Learner Competency Credential (Australian LCC). This pioneering initiative, led by the University of Melbourne’s Melbourne Assessment research unit, recognises vital competencies such as Agency in Learning, Quality Thinking and Communication. Our participation in this groundbreaking programme, alongside eight other esteemed schools across Australia, highlights our commitment to a holistic educational approach.

Enterprise Professor Sandra Milligan, Executive Director of Melbourne Assessment, notes the Australian LCC will help students prepare for a rapidly changing future: “Traditional metrics of learning and schooling success report what a learner knows about a particular subject or topic, or what they can do under timed, high-stakes tests or examinations. But to thrive in a modern AI world, students need to demonstrate more than that. They need to be collaborative, build and maintain connections, act ethically, be entrepreneurial, be critical thinkers and reflective. These are the qualities the Australian LCC is designed to recognise.” The Australian LCC is more than a certificate; it's a reflection of our students' readiness to meet future challenges and opportunities. As Santa Sophia Catholic College continues to innovate in education, we remain dedicated to equipping our students with the skills for the workplace of the future.

Statistics on 2023 HSC Results It is with great pleasure and excitement that we share with our Santa Sophia school community the exceptional achievements of our students in the recently released Higher School Certificate results. Our Higher School Certificate results are nothing short of outstanding, reflecting the dedication and hard work of our students, and the collaborative efforts of the entire school community.

CHRISTMAS CAROLS EVENT C l i c k h e r e t o W A T C H
The college celebrated the last day of term through a festive Christmas Carols. This was originally planned to be held outdoors but due to extreme weather conditions it was changed to a recorded live performance which was held in the school hall. The college is excited to make available a recorded version of our students singing Christmas carols with their grade. You can watch the full video in the above link. Even though we didn't have the Christmas Carols in the oval, the performance was filled with joy, music, and the festive spirit that truly captures the essence of this special time of the year. A caring and supportive school culture that promotes positive relationships and reflects Gospel teachings is a core aspect in the prevention of and response to incidents of bullying. This is only possible when there is a positive relationship between parents and the school. Bullying behaviours are in conflict with core values of the Catholic faith including dignity, respect, justice, equity, and compassion. Bullying can adversely affect the wellbeing of students and is always unacceptable. School bullying is the single-most important modifiable risk factor for mental illness in children and adolescents. (Scott et al. 2014). 1 Therefore, successfully preventing and responding to bullying will have positive, life-long benefits.

Governed by the principles of the Student Wellbeing Policy, this document guides the work of school leaders, staff, students and parents/carers to enable them to work together to create learning communities characterised by safe and respectful 3 relationships. It also directs how schools must work to prevent and address issues of student bullying and to respond effectively, fairly and sensitively to the needs of each person involved.
Leaving Period What do I need to do if I want to withdraw my child from the school and what fees do I need to pay? I understand and agree that I must give the school at least ONE School term's written notice of my intention to withdraw my child's enrolment at the school. I understand this does not apply if my child s leaving the school because they have completed Year 6 or Year 12 at the school. I understand and agree that I must pay ONE school's term's fees if I do not give the school this written notice at least one school term before my child's withdrawal. I understand tat one school term means 10 school weeks.
