Augmentative Interspecies Communication (AIC) utilizes pre-recorded speech buttons which enable animals to communicate with humans. Unlike natural animal communication, AIC offers animals a new way to interact with humans. Through a modeling process, animals are taught the meanings of specific words, allowing them to use those words to make requests or describe situations. While AIC has been successfully used with domestic pets like dogs and cats, it has not yet been widely implemented in zoos. In this session, zookeepers will introduce a soundboard with buttons that align with safety protocols. The aim is to teach animals useful concepts that enhance the interactions and well-being of animals and their caretakers.
Creating rubrics is one way to assist with clear instructions for assignments. Our instructions should help students demonstrate what they have learned rather than how well they can interpret your instructions. Additionally, New Quizzes can save you time on creating questions. This gives you more time to analyze questions that a large percentage of the class answered incorrectly. Why did so many students give an incorrect response? What might I do differently? Writing straightforward rubrics, coupled with using New Quizzes to inform your teaching will help students master your course content.
