The Canvas
Temporary & Tactical Urbanism
1. CHILDREN’S PLAYGROUND
The playground on site targets younger demographics, offering a safe and creative setting for play and social interaction. By revitalising the site with interchangeable play structures; it lively demonstrates the versatility of upcycling practices, encouraging environmental awareness from a young age.
2. BLANK CANVASES INSTALLATION
The implementation of temporary and tactical urbanism allows for the exhibition of a range of interventions that will later be distributed around Brighton as part of the Blank Canvases. This interchangeable exhibit enriches the immediate site, fosters engagement, and offers a sense of transparency which permeates from within the manufacturing facility.
The canopy market is a versatile space that can host farmers, artisans and fundraising events for dedicated social gatherings within Portslade. The structure itself, made from reclaimed materials; is a testament to the possibilities of architectural reuse; facilitating engagement and opportunities for a diverse range of individuals and groups, leading to further enrichment and value on site.
