Halloween, Fall and other Fun Activities The kids have been in school for a month or so, learning amazing stuff with their friends. Fall is here (even though it may still be warm out) and it’s time for pumpkin bread and cinnamon spiced apple cider. Turn to page 28 for 26 great ideas to do this fall. As you go through the list, mark the ones you would like to do. Start making annual fall traditions. Halloween is at the end of the month. Our neighborhood has become younger in the past several years so we enjoy Halloween again at home. It is fun to have the little neighbor kids come to our door! If you want to venture out of your neighborhood for trickor-treating, find great places throughout San Diego County on page 26. Contributing writer, Anne Malinoski, gathered safety tips for the evening also. Family Magazine has a full Fall/ Halloween Round-Up at www.sandiegofamily.com/things-todo/seasonal-happenings. Extracurricular activities are really beneficial for kids. They get kids off screens and provide adventures they don’t have time for during school hours. Sports, art, Scouts and many other activities help children become leaders, team players and well-rounded people. If you are looking for great afterschool activities, check out the advertisers in this issue that offer added-value learning. Did you miss our All Inclusive Day of Play and Resource Fair in August? Our staff had so much fun meeting local families and helping connect them with valuable community resources! Kids participated in hands-on activities, played games, enjoyed live entertainment and won tons of cool prizes, while parents and caregivers gathered helpful information and had fun networking. It was such a success that we’re doing it again next year! Stay connected with San Diego Family (www .SanDiegoFamily.com) and Special Needs Resource Foundation of San Diego (www.SNRFSD.org) for up-to-date information.
