Register Early

We don’t like to cancel camps but sometimes it becomes necessary due to low enrollment. To help ensure the camps or activity you are interested in meets, register at least two weeks prior to the first day.

Resident fees apply to anyone with a San Carlos mailing address. Non-Resident fees apply to anyone living in another city.

We gladly accept Visa, MasterCard, American Express, cash, and check

Refund/Transfer Request

Refunds: If you request to withdraw from a camp at least 2 weeks or more before the camp starts, a refund will be issued, minus a $10 refund fee. A refund request less than two weeks before the camp begins will not be approved.

Transfers: If you request to transfer from one camp to another at least two weeks before the camp starts, the transfer will be processed (if space is available). A transfer request less than two weeks before the (registered) camp begins will not be approved.

Payment Plan Option

All of our summer camps have the option of a payment plan. You can select the payment plan option during the checkout process. Camps must be paid in full prior to the start date. Payments will automatically be withdrawn using your credit card.

Fee Assistance

The Parks and Recreation Department offers a Fee Assistance Program, funded in partnership with the Parks and Recreation Foundation of San Carlos, to make summer camps and classes more affordable! Eligible families can fill out an application and submit for review.

Adventure Camps – Retro Rewind

Arguello Adventure Camp (Ages 9-12 years)

Adventure Camps are offered weekly throughout summer for kids ages 4-12 years. Join friends –and make new friends – in these summer camps filled will all sorts of fun adventures. Drop your campers off between 8:00 a.m. – 9:00 a.m., camp activities will begin at 9:00 a.m.

Extreme Adventure Camp (Ages 13-17 years)

Get ready for the ultimate experience at Extreme Adventure Camp! This camp offers unforgettable field trips every day to thrilling locations that push the boundaries of adventure and fun. Teens will venture on three different field trips chaperoned by Parks & Recreation Camp Staff.

Tweens will enjoy team-building games, creative craft projects, outdoor activities, water games and more. Campers will venture on field trips on Thursdays chaperoned by Parks & Recreation Camp Staff. Thursdays may end later due to fieldtrips.

Burton Adventure Camp (Ages 6-9 years)

Discover the wonders of summer with San Carlos Burton Adventure Camp! Trained and experienced staff will lead campers through daily adventures of songs, games, and outdoor activities. Each Thursday campers will enjoy an age-appropriate, off-site field trip, which will be chaperoned by Parks & Recreation Camp Staff. Thursdays may end later due to fieldtrips. Staff to camper ratio is 1:8.

Wee Woods Adventure Camp (Ages 4-5 years)

Come on an adventure with us this summer at San Carlos Wee Woods Camp! Trained and experienced staff will lead children through daily adventures of songs, crafts, games, and outdoor activities. Each week, campers will enjoy activities planned around fun themes and a special event each Thursday morning. Staff to camper ratio is 1:6.

L.I.T.E. Program

Leader In Training Education

(Ages 13-17 years)

San Carlos Parks and Recreation is looking for confident, enthusiastic, and responsible teens to be leaders in training (L.I.T.E.s) at our Summer Adventure and Sports Camps. If you enjoy working with children and want to learn valuable job and leadership skills working with our trained day camp leaders, you can apply! This is a great way to fulfill service hours or get work experience. L.I.T.E.s will assist with both the supervision of campers and the daily operation of camp. Applicants must be 13 years old by the first day of camp. Mandatory training will be held on Friday, June 13 from 9:00 a.m. – 1:00 p.m.

How to Apply

Applications available online beginning Monday, February 3rd. Completed applications due by Friday, March 14th. Interviews will be held week of March 31st and April 7th.

We offer a variety of camps such as creative arts, crafts, performing arts, cooking, science, language, engineering, and more … there’s something for everyone!

Performing Arts Camps

Aristocrats KIDS Mini Musical (Ages 7-10 years)

This two-week camp is the purr-fect experience for young performers eager to dive into the excitement of rehearsing and performing a show on stage. Based on the beloved Disney film and featuring a jazzy, upbeat score, The Aristocats KIDS is packed with laughs, catchy songs, and tons of feline fun. Guided by a director, choreographer, and vocal director, campers build essential skills in auditioning, singing, dancing, and acting, while boosting their creativity through theater games and activities. The camp culminates with a one-act performance for the community on the final day, complete with lights, sets, and costumes!

Stagecraft – Hands-On Experience in Technical Theater (Ages 10-15 years)

Become a tech star this summer and uncover the secrets of working behind the scenes in theater! Over two weeks of hands-on training, campers will learn how to program light and sound equipment, build sets, and create special effects for live performances. In the final week, campers will put their newfound skills to use as part of the tech crew for SCCT’s mini musical The Aristocats KIDS. With limited enrollment, each tech camper receives plenty of personalized instruction to enhance their learning experience. The last two classes, June 26 & 27, will be 9:00 a.m. – 3:00 p.m.

NEW Musical Theater – Time Travel (Ages 8-12 years)

Get ready to journey through time, musical theater style! Campers will embark on an amazing adventure as they explore musical theater past, present and future! Time travelers and actors have unlimited imaginations, which makes this the perfect camp for adventurous, fun-loving performers. Each day we’ll power up our time machine to learn about songs and dances from different time periods. Performers of all experience levels will elevate their vocal and movement skills as they gain a better understanding of theater history. Interactive theater games and crafts will further enrich each camper’s experience. The week culminates with a timeless showcase performance for families. Get set to launch in 3, 2, 1!

Join us for a week of creative drama fun centered around all things Bluey! Young campers will sing and dance to Bluey and Bingo’s favorite songs, play popular games like Shadowlands and Raiders, and create fun Bluey-themed crafts, along with other activities. Daily theater exercises and projects inspired by Bluey will spark imaginations and build self-confidence. Family members are invited to enjoy a special performance on the final day of camp, where actors will showcase their new talents!

Enjoy a thrilling stage experience this summer as you perform in the mini musical Lion King KIDS! This camp offers young actors an exciting opportunity to experience the complete process of auditioning, rehearsing, and performing for an audience, all within just two weeks. Campers will engage in fun art projects and theater games while learning the script and preparing for the show. Bursting with creative costumes, popular songs, and a heartwarming story, this mini production provides countless opportunities for young performers to shine. Camp ends with a special performance for families and the community on the final day!

NEW Let’s Go Wild (Ages 3-5)

Kids love wild animals so join us for a week of wild theater fun as we pretend to hop like kangaroos, roar like lions, and laugh like hyenas. Little ones are encouraged to use their big imaginations in this fun play-based theater class using music, dance and stories with animal themes. Youngsters will learn about acting using their bodies, facial expressions, and emotions, as well as practice using their “big” voices and speaking with confidence. Last day of camp will include a short showcase performance for families. Note: Children must be potty trained and verbal to enroll.

NEW The Brothers Grimm Spectaculathon –Acting Camp (Ages 9-14 years)

Actors are in for a wild, fast-paced adventure in this mini production inspired by the tales of the Brothers Grimm! In this comedic whirlwind, two narrators race against time to squeeze all 209 Grimm fairy tales into one unforgettable show. From Rapunzel, Rumpelstiltskin, and Hansel and Gretel to Snow White, Sleeping Beauty, and even obscure tales like “Lean Lisa” and “The Devil’s Grandmother,” this epic fable has it all. New and experienced actors will stretch their creativity and learn about the Brothers Grimm as they prepare to present a hilarious performance for families on the last day of camp.

Creative Arts & Craft Camps

NEW Jewelry Masters (Ages 6-12 years)

Delve into the enchanting world of DIY jewelry creation! From designing and stringing beads to assembling unique bracelets, necklaces, and earrings, young artisans will unleash their creativity and bring their imaginative designs to life. Throughout this hands-on course, participants will learn essential techniques in jewelry making, discovering the magic of combining different shapes, colors, and textures to fashion truly one-of-a-kind pieces. With each creation, children will develop fine motor skills, ignite their artistic talents, and gain a deeper appreciation for the art of adornment. NEW Paint the Town (Ages 5-12 years)

Let your creative juices flow and alleviate your creative dormancy. Come and explore the world of painting! We believe there is an artist imprisoned in each one of us. We just must let it out. Painting teaches your child to slow down and concentrate. This wonderfully creative Paint Party is perfect for those who don’t mind getting messy while creating works of art! They will explore canvas paintings to pottery painting through the week and showcase their work on the last day for all. This is a hands-on camp with lots of guidance and support. All the necessary art supplies will be provided.

NEW Sculpture Camp (Ages 5-9 years)

In this camp session, your child will deep dive into a variety of sculptural techniques and processes, learning foundational and advanced techniques in wire, paper mâché, air dry clay, mixed media assemblage, and more! Your child will learn about artists who employ these techniques and have opportunities to experiment and combine processes to make art that is meaningful to them. The open ended format of this camp allows your child’s creativity to develop as they problem solve, ideate, and imagine! No camp 6/19.

NEW Disney Imagineering Art (Ages 5-12 years)

Dreams come true this summer at Disney Imagineering Art Camp, perfect for kids who love to create cartooning art. All projects will be themed around the Disney universe and its beloved characters. A fun and magical week will all lead up to a special movie screening and costume party on the last day. Spark your little one’s imagination through creative thinking and fearless exploration with the magic of Disney.

Sewing Camp With Robin (Ages 7-11 years)

Come and learn some basic sewing techniques such as sewing machine operation, simple pattern reading and sewing project construction. We will practice threading your machine, straight line stitching, keeping a seam allowance, pinning and cutting out a pattern. Students are encouraged to bring their own sewing machine, otherwise a machine will be made available for a $10 rental for use during camp. Daily activities include two sessions of sewing, a pre-packaged snack and recess. $50 material fee is payable to the instructor on the first day of camp.

Sewing Camp with Christine (Ages 8-12 years)

Spend the week learning to sew and making some great projects! We will work on full size sewing machines and make a pillowcase, tote bag, and zippered bag and an additional project if time allows Everyone works at their own pace in a fun, no pressure environment. A working sewing machine & additional supplies are required for the class. Sewing machines are available for use during class for an additional one-time payment of $25 payable to the instructor. Materials and/or additional supplies can be purchased from the instructor. A materials list will be provided approximately a week before the camp begins. Each week offers different projects. We will get creative and make several different crafts! Tie dye t-shirts, paint pouring, beading, Shrinky Dinks and more! This camp will be fun (and maybe a little messy!) Fun with Melty (Perler) Beads (Ages 5-12 years)

This camp is going to be all about Perler Beads! Campers will make many different projects using these colorful plastic beads! Everyone will have time to explore and design some great projects. We will make some 3-D projects such as boxes, ornaments & more! Come and see how many ways we can use these beads to make some creative and useful projects.

Yoga and Art (Ages 5-12 years)

This camp offers children the opportunity to express themselves through art and creative movement. The instructor initiates the class through breathing exercises to promote focus, awareness, and a sense of calm. During the yoga component of the class, children explore fun poses, stretches, games, and mindful activities. Following yoga, children create a work of art based on the theme explored in yoga session such as the earth, animals, or the ocean. Projects involve various media such as painting, pastel, zentangle and drawing. Campers should wear comfortable clothes that allow free movement and bring a water bottle, a yoga mat, and a snack. All Art materials will be provided.

Kids Carpentry (Ages 5-12 years)

Students are encouraged to develop problem-solving skills while building their own cool projects using applied math and fractions. Kids are introduced to a wide range of hand tools, safety, and craftsmanship. Projects include super tops, boats, clocks, games, doll furniture, bird feeders, and more. Our goal is to empower the students to become independent thinkers. For more information and to watch our fun 8-minute video, visit kidscarpentry.net. Material fee of $40 for the 4-day camp and $50 for the 5-day camp is payable to the instructor on first day of camp.

Art-ful-Noons (Ages 5-12 years)

We focus on creativity, not copying. Art projects will involve drawing, painting, sculpting, crafting, and multi-media. Campers will go on a creative journey building fundamental drawing, sculpting, and crafting skills. We will learn basic techniques such as shading, controlling tones, composition, and drawing methods. Additionally, campers will learn how to see with an artist’s eye while exploring different art mediums from oil pastels, chalk pastels, paints, clay, and markers. This camp is designed for beginner artists who have an interest in learning how to draw, create or sculpt – or for those who simply want to improve their skills.

Da Vinci’s Workshop (Ages 6-12 years)

Our Renaissance instructors will guide your child through exciting new lessons every class. Students will learn fundamental artistic skills in a variety of mediums including acrylic painting, watercolors, clay sculptures, cartoons, anime, manga, sketching and drawing. Students will have a blast and will bring home tons of new artwork.

Music Camps

NEW Guitar and Singalong (Ages 7-12 years)

“Life without playing music is inconceivable for me,” Einstein declared. “I live my daydreams in music. I see my life in terms of music ... I get most joy in life out of music.” Here at EASE, we teach children the basics of the guitar chords, scales, and finger exercises and coach students to sing along to their instrument. We offer a new way to learn how to play the guitar, sing and practice their vocals, and most importantly develop their confidence to sing in front of a live audience. Guitars will be provided to use while at camp but you are welcome to bring your own. $40 material fee is payable to instructor at first day of camp.

Do you love all things sweet? Is your passport prepared for a world of taste sensations? If so, join us for this fun-filled, week long combo camp series that blends both the sweet and savory! In Simply Sweets, you’ll expand your confectionery knowledge and take your dessert making to the next level while making eye catching treats - from cookies, cakes, pies, pastries, tarts and puffs – even a bit of candy! Then Culinary Passport will take your taste buds on a thrilling tour around the globe, savoring flavorful favorites from each country we visit. This camp is not just about cooking; it’s about gaining important kitchen skills while fostering an appreciation for the diverse culinary landscapes across the planet. What’s sweeter than a bounty of delicious and beautiful cupcakes hand crafted by your own Junior Master Chef? With the help of our professional cake instructors, you will learn the ways of a true cupcake artist! Students will mix, bake, design and complete delectable cupcakes that will showcase their creativity and taste absolutely divine! In the afternoon you will take a culinary journey all around the world with the Chefs at Junior Chef Stars. Welcome to Gourmet Garden, where junior chefs dig into the delicious world of farm-to-table cooking! Junior Fire Academy (Ages 11-15 years)

Ever dream of being a firefighter? Well stop dreaming and start doing at the junior fire academy! Participants develop lifelong skills not only learning about emergency preparedness, but also how to work together to accomplish tasks. Taught by professional firefighters, participants learn skills including First Aid, CPR, exit drills, fire extinguisher use, disaster preparedness, and home safety. In addition to the practical skills they can use every day, participants learn what it’s like to be a firefighter by extinguishing fire with fire hoses, proper lifting techniques for moving ladders and hoses, hose management, and they even get to climb the 100-foot-tall ladder!

Our campers enjoy the Tumbletrak, Climbing Wall and Foam Pit.
