SELECTING THE PERFECT SIZE AND STYLE OF ART FOR YOUR ROOM

Choosing the right art for your room goes beyond mere decoration – it's about creating an atmosphere that reflects your personality and complements your space. The interplay of size and style plays a pivotal role in achieving this harmony Whether you ' re aiming for a bold statement or a subtle enhancement, considering these factors will guide you in selecting the perfect art pieces.

Size matters, and it's crucial to strike the right balance. The size of your art should be proportional to the wall space it occupies and the furniture around it. An oversized piece in a small room can overwhelm the space, while a tiny piece in a spacious area might get lost. Consider the room ' s dimensions and the available wall space If you have a vast expanse to work with, a large, commanding artwork can become the focal point In cozy rooms, a grouping of smaller artworks can add visual interest without overwhelming the space

The style of the art you choose should also harmonize with the room ' s existing design elements. If your space boasts a minimalist aesthetic, consider abstract or contemporary pieces with clean lines and neutral tones. For a more traditional ambiance, classic landscapes or portraits can evoke a timeless feel Pay attention to color palettes – coordinating or contrasting hues can create a cohesive look If your room features bold colors, consider artwork that complements or balances these shades.

SELECTING THE PERFECT SIZE AND STYLE OF ART FOR YOUR ROOM (CON'T'D)

The art you choose should resonate with your tastes and emotions Consider the mood you want to evoke in the room. Vibrant, energetic pieces can infuse a sense of dynamism, while serene landscapes or gentle abstracts can create a tranquil atmosphere Your art choices are a reflection of your identity and interests, so make sure you genuinely connect with the pieces you select.

Don't be afraid to mix and match styles for an eclectic look, but do so thoughtfully. Cohesiveness can be maintained by using a common color palette or theme across diverse artworks Experiment with placement –art doesn't have to be limited to eye level; you can play with vertical arrangements, staggered groupings, or even leaning pieces against the wall

Eploring art options has become easier than ever. The San Antonio Artists Collective offers a vast array of choices, allowing you to visualize different artworks in your space before making a decision. Consider using our virtual tools to get a preview of how the art will look in your room.

Selecting the perfect size and style of art involves a delicate interplay of aesthetics, space, and personal resonance By balancing these elements, you can curate a living space that not only looks appealing but also reflects your unique identity and creates an ambiance you'll relish every day.

CREATING VIBRANCE IN A MONOCHROME WORLD

“Both of my parents were full-time artists, and we traveled the country from California to New York every summer when I was out of school from one art show to the next. Their passion for what they created and accomplished was not lost on me, and I am incredibly appreciative of each of those summers.”

What themes or ideas are you currently exploring in your work, and how do you hopetomakeanimpactwithyourart?

I enjoy creating dimensional artwork and have recently explored adding texture to select pieces while trying to maintain vibrance. As far as an impact, life can be challenging and even dark at times, and we all could benefit from more color in the world. It can stimulate our brains, create emotions, foster creativity, soothe anxiety, and be therapeutic, which is truly my personal experience. Oh yeah, and it can beautify your space, too With that said, I hope to inspire someone to try a different medium, don't be afraid to be uncomfortable doing so, and enjoy your creativity, whether it's a mess or a masterpiece.

What medium(s) do you work with and why?

This question truly speaks to my artistic transformation. In my youth, you would never see an element of color in my art I loved using charcoal or simply a pencil and relied heavily on shading and lots of erasers Many years later, I became interested in abstract and geometric art. Shortly afterward, I experimented with fluid acrylics and acrylic inks for their movement and ease of use. These are still primary tools for me today, along with various other mediums that allow for added expression, opacity, and color options. It is not uncommon to find where I have added six different mediums in just a single painting. Then I found resin, and it all came together with the added benefit of that glass-like finish

Can you talk about a piece or project that you are particularlyproudof?

Years ago, I created an abstract painting entitled “Spectacular Mistake” that was, to date, the largest piece I have attempted at 80” wide. I must have felt incredibly confident that week It was a unique trial given the limited working time of resin and the overall weight of 5 different featured layers of depth. However, I ultimately had the pleasure of delivering the artwork personally to the client and installing the piece for the family home.

What has been the biggest challenge you have faced as an artistandhowdidyouovercomeit? I have yet to overcome my biggest challenge. Art is very subjective, and each is certainly entitled to one’s own opinions on how that piece makes them feel or to the degree of artistic talent they feel is involved –however, I truly am my own worst critic Sounds cliché, I know, but completely truthful. I can’t begin to count how many pieces I have scrapped after a painting dried because I was not content with the finished product despite the opinions of others No, I don’t pay them. But it’s true, and therefore, I need to be slightly less hard on myself and not forget the calm and minor escape from my daily news cycle of life that painting affords me and fosters creativity in others
