As we reflect on a year of remarkable growth and continued excellence, I am filled with immense gratitude for the spirit of generosity that surrounds San Antonio Academy. Our school has long stood on the strong foundation of its mission, to offer an exceptional education intentionally crafted for boys, which is brought to life daily through the unwavering support of our entire community.
At the heart of this success is a deeply rooted culture of philanthropy which is not solely about financial gifts, though those are vital to our work. It is about something much broader and more profound: a shared commitment to giving our time, talents, and treasure in service of our boys and their futures.
Thanks to your generosity, our students continue to thrive under the guidance of passionate educators and mentors who embody The Academy’s four pillars: Scholarship, Leadership, Integrity, and Brotherhood. Whether it's through lessons intentionally crafted for boys, leadership on the field, quiet acts of integrity, or the strong bonds of brotherhood formed throughout campus, your support helps us nurture the whole boy on his way to becoming a Texas gentleman.
Every hour volunteered, every dollar donated, and every talent shared reinforces our collective belief in the power of an SAA education. This report is not simply a record of philanthropic impact but also a testament to your belief in our mission and to your active role in shaping The Academy’s legacy.
Thank you for your continued partnership as we preserve the values that define San Antonio Academy.

JEANA CRUMP
2nd GRADE
In my career as a teacher, I have always had the privilege of witnessing growth in my students throughout the school year.
As a teacher at SAA, the thing that I love the most is being part of a "continuum" of growth and learning that spans beyond the school year and lasts from a boy’s first day of Pre-K through his graduation. I have an opportunity to observe and participate in this journey in the classroom, during chapel at lunch, and in myriad other ways every day with boys from all grade levels across the campus.
My current students were in Pre-K my first year here, and the first group I taught in 2nd grade are now 5th graders.
To walk alongside these boys as they find their strengths, conquer their struggles, and celebrate their achievements gives me deep joy. The Academy helps create this profound connection, and I am thrilled to be part of it!
DEBBIE OBLITAS
4th GRADE HISTORY & MATH
I started following San Antonio Academy on social media because a friend of mine was already working here. I was immediately drawn in by the stories, the energy, and the incredible activities being shared. Even then, I had a feeling—I just knew I wanted to be a part of it some day.
Fast forward several years, and here I am—teaching at the coolest school I’ve ever experienced.
What amazes me most is that what happens here every single day is even more meaningful than what you see online. The posts only capture a glimpse of the magic. At SAA, it’s not just for show—it’s our culture. We live it, breathe it, and bring it to life daily.
As educators, we’re encouraged to unleash our creativity and teach from the heart. The appreciation we receive from our students and the entire SAA community makes it all the more rewarding. There’s nothing like watching these boys grow into confident, kind, and capable young gentlemen—and knowing you had a hand in that transformation is the greatest honor of all.
TROY WILSON PH.D. 7th GRADE ENGLISH & LANGUAGE ARTS
I think the words of Maya Angelou will work here. She said, “When someone shows you who they are, believe them the first time.” Often, these words are taken to contextually convey a response to negative behaviors. But what if we flipped it? Can it not apply to positive interactions as well? I think it can...
This campus showed me, repeatedly, that it values everyone’s role in the process of raising and molding young boys. Everyone’s role is valued and respected. I’m old, so I’ve been around the block once or five times. I know this is a rare thing to find in a work environment. I don’t take it for granted, and I never will. The Academy showed me who they are, and I chose to believe them.
As a professional educator, there is literally no other place I would rather be than here, standing with my amazing colleagues and teaching these wonderful boys.

SAA ROCKS! FALL FAMILY FAIR RAISES RECORD-BREAKING $100,000
The San Antonio Academy community came together on Saturday, October 19, 2024, for the annual Fall Family Fair, a beloved Academy tradition of nearly four decades. This year’s theme, “SAA Rocks!,” echoed throughout the festivities as over 500 attendees enjoyed an evening of lively entertainment, family fun, and generous support of the school’s mission.
Chaired by Kelly Leddy and Kali Tripp, the fair featured activities for all ages, including a range of bounce houses, carnival games, the ever-popular 8thgrade haunted house, and a cakewalk with many festively decorated treats up for grabs. This year’s new highlight was a live performance by the band LC Rocks, which kept the crowd entertained and rocking out throughout the evening. Attendees also enjoyed a variety of carnival foods and tested their luck at drop-in-the-bucket for a chance to win exciting prizes.
SAA’S INAUGURAL CLAY CLASSIC RAISES MORE THAN $165,000
A heartfelt thank you goes to event chairs Jennifer Anderson, Kay Kay O’Brien, and Fannie Thomas, whose dedication and careful planning ensured a seamless and memorable experience. Their leadership was instrumental in bringing this event to life, and The Academy is deeply grateful for their commitment.
Beyond the sporting challenge, the event’s success was made possible by the support of sponsors, underwriters, volunteers, and attendees. Every contribution—whether through financial support, hard work, or enthusiastic participation—made all the difference. It is through this kind of collaboration that we can continue providing exceptional experiences intentionally crafted for boys, both in and out of the classroom.

Held on Monday, May 12, at the historic Argyle, the event brought together alumni spanning more than six decades—from the Class of 1959 to the Class of 2025—for a meaningful afternoon of connection, storytelling, and spirit of brotherhood. Each 8th grade student received a special Academy alumni pin, a symbolic token representing the lifelong bond they share with their alma mater.
Generously underwritten by Triana and Brandon Grossman ‘92, the luncheon also featured a presentation by the Alumni Association honoring Jonathon Schneider ’04 with the 2025 Young Alumnus Award. Established in 2022, the award recognizes exceptional alumni age 35 and under who exemplify The Academy’s core values of Scholarship, Leadership, Integrity, and Brotherhood. Jonathan’s dedication and achievements make him a shining example of what it means to be an SAA graduate.
HONORING OUR ALUMNI
the academy fund
A CULTURE OF GIVING
San Antonio Academy relies on the generosity of parents, alumni, grandparents, and friends to help provide an exceptional experience for our boys. We hope you will continue to make The Academy one of your philanthropic priorities.
ONE GIFT EVERY YEAR
The Academy Fund is the number one fundraising priority because it is critical to daily operations. The Academy Fund is unrestricted, meaning it can be used wherever needed, and makes up a percentage of the annual operating budget. Make a secure gift online by scanning the code or by visiting: www.sa-academy.org/academyfundgifts
Listed below are options to consider when making your gift. To discuss how your gift can make the most significant impact on Academy Boys, contact Jennifer Colglazier at jcolglazier@sa-academy.org.
Cash or Check
Gifts may be made by cash or check, payable to San Antonio Academy.
Credit Card
Credit card gifts may be made by visiting sa-academy.org/give, submitting an Academy Fund donation card with your credit card information, or calling the Development Office at 210-733-7331.
Stocks and Securities
A gift of appreciated stock generally offers a two-fold tax saving: avoiding capital gains
tax on the increase in value of the stock and providing an income tax deduction for the full market value of the stock at the time of the gift. Gifts of stock are valued at the mean price on the date transferred to The Academy. Stock donations should be transferred directly by your broker to The Academy’s brokerage account at Frost Bank. For more information, contact development@sa-academy.org.
Bequest and Planned Gifts
Donors may consider giving through such means as life insurance, bequests, or charitable trusts. Gift planning can reduce estate and inheritance taxes. We encourage you to speak with your financial planner when considering any type of planned gift. For more information, please visit www.sa-academy.org/legacy-gifts or email development@sa-acdemy.org.
Corporate Matching Gifts
Many employers will match employees’ donations. This opportunity provides an additional source of income for The Academy and offers a convenient way to leverage your gifts into a larger donation. To determine if your company participates in a matching gift program, please contact your human resources department. Donors must initiate the matching gift process though their employer.
Honorary and Memorial Gifts
A donation in honor or in memory of someone can be made to any fund at any time. The honoree or next of kin is notified of the donation made.
