BEAST RELEASE NEW ALBUM FUNDED BY FANS After recording their debut album (Smoke Swig Swear) in September 2012, BEAST released it early in 2013 as a free download: www.bit.ly/1zORmJx. It was met with critical acclaim. Rolling Stone Magazine named it number 16 in its 'Best Albums of 2013'. In 2014, BEAST had enough material for a second album. But they needed assistance. Recording the kind of quality album that they wanted was going to be dif!cult, as BEAST is not signed to a major label with monetary support. But they prefer it that way. Artistic freedom and creative integrity are very important to the band.

So they decided to run a crowdfunding campaign on Indiegogo. Fans and contributors could choose to pre-order the album ($8), be an Execu(ve Producer of the album ($50), or have BEAST perform a private show for them and their friends ($480). The band raised enough money to complete the album. ARDO BARDO was officially released on 6 February 2015. The album was recorded to live in October 2014 at Heritage Sound by Brendyn 'Rus( ' Rossouw, and mixed by BEAST bassist, Rian Zietsman at S(cky Music for Media. BEAST “What would a band with two basses sound like?” wondered Louis Nel and Rian Zietsman in 2011, when they shared a mutual desire to learn how to play the bass guitar. After recording a jam session, the boys were booked for their !rst show. But they wanted a vocalist. A female vocalist. Louis and Rian had been talking to Inge Beckmann throughout the experimentation phase, and wanted to invite her when the sound was right. She joined them for their !rst show and felt an exciting connection with the project. And so BEAST was born. The band's ethos is: no boundaries. The music is created organically, and the members allow each other the freedom to improvise. Honest rock 'n' roll played at high volume. Hey there! I have some great news that I want to share with you. I'm excited to tell you about my new single release, Sea of Silence! It just dropped last week and is currently available on Amazon MP3, iTunes, and Google Play, as well as other digital music purchase and streaming sites… with more sites coming soon. Got a favorite site? Search for it... it may already be up there. I had fun crafting this one: it evolved its own personality as I arranged and recorded it - a very different one from when I !rst wrote and demoed it. Music has a way of taking on a life of its own, letting you know how it wants to be expressed. That's half the fun of it! Sea of Silence took on a kind of raw, sultry, bluesy, rockin' vibe as it unfolded. One reviewer described that vibe as "Billie Holiday Meets The Stones": "Imagine the haunting, sultry tones of Billie Holiday, but accompanied by the bluesy raunch of a band like the Rolling Stones, and you've got Luna Jade's "Sea of Silence." It's a great combination. Luna's voice goes from a sexy pout to a passionate wail, and the burning guitar solo is the perfect foil for her emotion-fueled vocal rif!ng. Turn it on and turn it up, but don't be surprised if you start smelling smoke and whiskey.” I love that description! Here's a taste:

h! p://www.reverbna(on.com/lunajade/song/22903557 -sea-silence-wri! en-by-luna-jade And in perfect timing for the release: Sea of Silence was just selected this month as a top 5

I am currently back at #1 on the ReverbNa(on Alterna(ve chart for West Palm Beach, FL and the surrounding area (Boynton Beach, Lake Worth, etc.) With so many great artists around here, the charts are dynamic… so it's a nice feeling when you climb back into that #1 spot :) With love... Greenpop launches the 2015 Platbos Reforest Fests For the 5th year running, Greenpop will host two festivals in the ancient Platbos Forest in May. These are festivals with a difference – Greenpop brings people together to plant thousands of trees, dance to awesome live music, listen to interesting talks, enjoy great food and more. Celebrate people and planet! Greenpop is a social enterprise on a mission to (re)connect people with our planet and each other. Their method – to plant trees and have fun doing it In 2014 a whopping 10 002 trees were planted over the two weekend festivals! They hope to match this in 2015 and you can be part of it. The Reforest Fest is held over two weekends in May in the Platbos Forest (2.5 hours drive from Cape Town). The !rst weekend is a Family Fest (8 -10 May) and the following weekend is a Friends Fest (15 - 17 May). As the names suggest, the Family Fest is aimed towards families with children of all ages, music end at about 10:30pm on the Saturday night and activities are tailored towards connecting families and children with nature. The Friends Fest is a bit more of a party on the Saturday night and slightly different activities and talks on the Sunday. All ages welcome to both!

Enjoy a delicious meal and meet new friends. Saturday: Saturday is a day of tree-planting and getting your hands dirty, helping to restore an ecosystem that is one of the most rare and endangered in the Western Cape. As the sun sets on a hard day's work, festival goers will enjoy a magical forest party! Greenpop provides an awesome musical line-up at the intimate main stage, with some of South Africa's coolest bands (at both fests). Line up to be announced soon! Usually Greenpop plants 3000 trees at the Family Weekend and 7000 at the Friends weekend. Sunday: Sunday is !lled with fun, educational, active and relaxing talks, walks, workshops and more including: Forest walks, Yoga, Hula Hooping, Interactive music sessions and instrument making, Arts and crafts, Talks by various personalities in conservation and sustainable living, Talent shows, Performances, Treasure hunts and some surprises Platbos Forest – a true gem in the Western Cape Platbos is an ancient relic forest with trees that are over 1000 years old. This forest is part of one of the rare and endangered ecosystems of the Western Cape, with a unique mix of indigenous trees from both coastal regions and mountainous regions! The forest is situated near Gansbaai in the Overberg region, 2.5 hours from Cape Town.

Like many natural forests around the world, parts of Platbos have What to expect at the Platbos Family and Friends Fests Friday: Arrive Friday evening for a chilled night in the ancient been cleared in the past century for cultivation. This means that the trees that would naturally grow there have been cut down. Today, indigenous forest where some of the trees are 1000 years old. many of these cleared areas are being taken over by dense invasive alien vegetation, which makes it dif!cult for the indigenous trees to grow back, and also poses a serious !re risk to the whole forest. In response to this issue, Melissa and Francois Krige of Platbos have launched the Trees for Tomorrow reforestation programme. Through this, endemic seeds are harvested from the forest, reared in the Platbos Forest Tree Nursery and then replanted to expand the forest and help to return it to the way it once was.. It's important to plant endemic trees because they are especially adapted to droughts, and keep the !res out and serve as a food source for the bird and animal species that rely on the Platbos ecosystem for survival.

Greenpop have partnered with Platbos Forest to create the annual Reforest Fests, which focus on the importance of planting trees, but also provide an unforgettable experience for people of all ages to (re)connect with nature and have fun doing it! In the past 5 years, Greenpop has planted over 18000 trees through the Reforest Fests and the trees have a 85% survival rate so far! “The most exciting thing about this annual event to me is the community that comes together to celebrate. The event has grown stronger year on year, in terms of numbers and trees planted. Being on the ground and getting active really makes me feel like we are part of a movement. And to think we are re-growing an indigenous forest is awesome – and it's really working! This wouldn't be possible without the amazing community of likeminded people coming together to make social and environmental change happen – and having fun too.” Misha Teasdale, Greenpop Tree-E-O The Early Bird catches the worm (and the ticket specials!) There are limited Early Bird tickets at R520 (children under 12 will be R320). Once sold out, tickets will be R590 (R390 for children under 12).
