We Don’t Know Ennough To Be a Pessimist

Albert Einstein said, “The most important decision we make is whether we believe we live in a friendly or hostile universe.”

Profound words from the most influential scientist of the 20th century, primarily known for his groundbreaking theories of relativity, which revolutionized our understanding of space and time.

We must ask ourselves: do I believe that I live in a friendly universe, where people are generally good, can be trusted, are looking to help me, and have my best interest at heart? Or, do I believe that I live in a hostile universe, where people are generally bad, cannot be trusted, are looking to take advantage of me, and do not have my best interest at heart? How we answer that question determines what kind of life we live.

You can choose to have an expansive, positive mindset. Telling yourself that everything is going to work out great and thinking pos-

itively about the future may be unrealistic, but it does help to shape and create better outcomes.

So, you see, the law of self-fulfilling prophecy is alive and well in the way we think and the way we think tends to affect the way we act. And, the way we act, tends to predict the outcomes of our behaviors. Thinking, acting, and speaking positively will naturally create better opportunities and therefore better outcomes.

By having a hopeful, open, unrestricted view, you are actually helping to create better circumstances.

Bottom line: Your personality creates your reality.

“Word of Mouth: The Human Touch in an AI World”

In a world where AI is everywhere, how can we really make our brand stand out?

One powerful tool that’s still in our hands is *word of mouth*. It’s the most authentic and trusted form of marketing out there— and it has been around forever! Yet, many marketers overlook it. Seriously, when was the last time you thought about including word of mouth in your marketing budget?

Networking is a key part of this. It’s all about sharing your story in a way that’s relatable. When you talk about your services or products in your own words, it sparks curiosity and encourages people to ask more. And when they see the results from what you offer, they naturally want to share. They tell their friends about how you helped solve a problem or meet a need.

Think about it: when you

shop online, don’t you check the reviews? We often trust those more than the company’s marketing materials. That’s the magic of networking! People who have already benefited from your services can make those warm introductions and help connect you with others who might need what you offer.

So let’s not forget about the power of genuine connections and conversations. They can take us further than any AIgenerated campaign ever could!

Turning Social Media Engagement into Real-World Relationships

NETWORKING PLAYBOOK

In today’s digital-first world, social media is more than just scrolling and double-tapping—it’s a powerful tool for building real, meaningful relationships. Whether you’re a business owner, creative, or community leader, transforming online engagement into offline connection can unlock new opportunities and deepen your impact.

Each like, comment, or share is a digital handshake—a subtle invitation to start a conversation. But true connection goes beyond the screen. If someone consistently engages with your content, reach out. Thank them, ask about their passions, or explore collaboration opportunities. These small, authentic actions lay the foundation for trust.

Once rapport is established, take the next step: invite them to coffee, meet at an event, or host a casual get-together. Keep it natural, not transactional— the goal is to build community,

not just contacts. Social media can also supercharge inperson events. Promote your gatherings, personally invite engaged followers, and then spotlight them afterward to keep the energy going. That engagement creates a ripple effect—attracting others to join in next time.

Some of the most successful partnerships and friendships have started in a comment thread. So next time someone says “Love this!” don’t just like it—start a conversation. In a world of followers, be the one who connects.

The color transitions seamlessly from soft, dark roots into golden, beachy tones that add depth and movement to her hair. The balayage is expertly blended, giving the hair a natural, lived-in feel that’s both sophisticated and youthful.

Styled her hair into soft, cascading waves that amplify the summery vibe. The half-up, half-down hairstyle allows her blonde locks to flow freely while the top section is elegantly pulled back and secured with a delicate pin. The soft waves create a natural, effortless look, adding texture and volume to the hair, while the half-up style highlights the balayage color beautifully.

For the makeup, we went with a fresh, spring-inspired look, perfect for the season.

You chose a dewy foundation that enhances her natural complexion, giving her a luminous, healthy glow. Her eyes were the centerpiece of the look, with soft, earthy tones on the lids and a touch of vibrant green glitter applied along the lash line. This pop of green adds a playful yet elegant element, reflecting the energy of spring and making her eyes sparkle.

The entire look feels like a breath of spring air—feminine, soft, and modern, with a pop of excitement from the green glitters and the natural movement of her beautiful blonde waves. You truly captured the essence of the season in this makeover, creating a perfect balance between understated elegance and playful fun.

This isn’t your soft, sun-kissed blonde—this is blonde with attitude. Sharp, high-impact highlights in electric platinum and icy champagne tones bring serious edge to your summer look. It’s daring, dimensional, and unapologetically bold—perfect for turning heads from rooftop parties to beachside escapes. Bright blonde is no longer just a vibe—it’s a statement. For the ones who crave attention, confidence, and a little chaos in the heat—this blonde’s for you. Cynthia loves to create many palettes of blonde.

Model Mckenna was styled half up, half down to highlight the soft dimension and movement of the color, giving that effortless, romantic summer vibe. For the second look, was created to be a more textured updo featuring delicate braids, for a more elevated, boho-chic feel.

Albina had the pleasure of creating both hair and makeup looks for this dreamy summer shoot! Her inspiration was to create a “Summer Glow” look.

This summer, it’s all about skin that looks like it just took a dip in golden hour. Dewy makeup is having its moment—lightweight, luminous, and effortlessly fresh. Think sheer, breathable coverage that lets your skin breathe, layered with glossy lids, juicy cheeks, and a touch of highlighter that hits just right under the sun. Lips get the barely-there treatment with tinted balms or sheer glosses, and everything is kissed with warmth. It’s not just a makeup look—it’s a glow-up in summer motion.

Model of the Month

JOAQUIN SANCHEZ

Model of the Month

Hello, my name is Juaquin Sanchez, and I’m a 20-year-old male model and actor from San Antonio, Texas. I’ve always had a deep passion for fashion and clothing, and growing up, I found myself drawn to the art of self-expression through unique styles. Choosing this career path was an easy decision for me, as I knew I wanted to be involved in the fashion world in some way.

About a year ago, I was torn between becoming a model or a designer, but ultimately, I realized that my true passion lies in being surrounded by clothing. That’s when I was introduced to the Nelson Fashion Group by Lari Nelson, who gave me the opportunity to explore modeling and acting. Entering this industry was a big leap for me, and at first, I was intimidated by the idea of being on stage in front of an audience. But with Lari and her team’s guidance, I quickly gained the confidence I needed to push past those fears.

Lari has been more than just a mentor to me; she’s become an incredible individual whose expertise has shaped my journey. Without her knowledge and support, I wouldn’t be where I am today. Thanks to the lessons I’ve learned from her, I’ve had the privilege of walking for several designers and participating in charity events.

As I continue to pursue my modeling career, my ultimate goal is to become a professional high-end model, possibly even stepping into the world of design. My dream is to appear on the cover of top magazines for iconic brands like Louis Vuitton, Calvin Klein, and Tom Ford, and to meet influential designers such as Rick Owens, Willy Chavarria, and Glenn Martens (Maison Margiela). I’m eager to travel, meet new people, and continue exploring all that the modeling world has to offer.

Monthly Magazine readers and fans, our passion is Italian cuisine! One of our friends told us about a newly opened restaurant located in the TCP area of San Antonio.

I came across an eloquent spot called Ravello Italian Cuisine. If you have ever been to Italy, it transports you to the Amalfi Coast. I selected the lasagna, Bucatini alla Carbonara, the Short Ribs con Gnocchi and dessert. Each plate was carefully thought out and had a blend of bold creativity in an art form. I had excellent table service from the waitstaff and manager. Not to mention, I truly enjoyed the live music being played by a piano player. It was as if I was listening to Frank Sinatra in New York city! It was easy to carry a conversation. The food and atmosphere was amazing and memorable.

Bring your family and friends to experience an exceptional dining experience!

Grape Creek Vineyards 2022 Viognier is the perfect wine to serve at a crab bake or with any grilled seafood or spicy Tex-Mex. This elegant, beautifully balanced Viognier is a flawless example of why Viognier from the Texas High Plains is often considered the benchmark for this grape throughout the entire wine world. A lovely pale straw in color with a hint of chartreuse, delicate aromas of tangerine, apricot, and pineapple are accented with lemon grass and wildflowers. Mostly Viognier with a touch of Pinot Grigio for crispness, the palate is silky smooth with a long, graceful finish. The ABV is a food-perfect 12.8%.

Invention Vineyards 2022 Conflation is a Rhone-style red wine blend featuring fresh aromas of strawberry shortcake and tart cherry with a spice-driven undercurrent of vanilla, cinnamon, and clove. The crisp palate is bright, lively, and refreshing with brisk acidity that makes this a great wine for lighter, warm-weather meals. This inaugural vintage of an exciting new Invention Vineyards wine would pair perfectly with burgers, pizza, and Mediterranean dishes.

What is more refreshing than a perfect glass of sparkling wine on a hot summer day? Heath Sparkling Wines 2021 Euphoria has a lovely pale yellow color with toasty aromas of white peach, Mandarin orange, and pear along with delicate hints of vanilla and caramel. First produced in 2013, Euphoria is the winery’s longest tenured bubbly and one of the most beloved. With an elegantly

balanced palate, the finish is soft, clean, and crisp. A lovely wine with a huge fan base, the color is a classic pale straw with a tiny hint of gold. Try this stunning wine with berry desserts like shortcake and pie, with grilled chicken, or even with salty popcorn on movie night.

How Stress, Cortisol, and Poor Sleep Sabotage Your Weight Loss

- And What to Do About It

I have many topics that are relevant to a medical editor but issues of stress and weight loss are my most frequently asked questions in how do I get control. Stress eating is one of the biggest obstacles and barriers to losing weight.

If you’re struggling with weight loss despite doing everything “right,” your adrenal glands and sleep patterns might be the missing piece. Chronic stress disrupts your body’s natural cortisol rhythm, leading to poor sleep, increased cravings, and stubborn weight gain. Let’s dive into how your adrenal function affects your sleep—and what you can do to support your body naturally.

Understanding the Adrenal Glands and Cortisol

Your adrenal glands, two small glands sitting on top of your kidneys, produce cortisol— the body’s primary stress hormone. Cortisol follows a natural rhythm, peaking in the morning to help you wake up and gradually declining throughout the day so you can wind down for sleep.

But when you’re under chronic stress— whether from work, family, or even poor diet—your body stays in “fight or flight” mode This can:

• Keep cortisol levels elevated at night, making it hard to fall asleep. “Wired but tired” is how you feel

• Cause early-morning awakenings (like waking up at 3 AM and not being able to fall back asleep).

• Lead to daytime energy crashes and cravings for sugar and caffeine.

Over time, this dysregulated cortisol pattern affects metabolism, making weight loss much more difficult.

How Poor Sleep Disrupts Weight Loss

Sleep is essential for weight loss, and is important for anti-aging, detoxification and repair of the body systems and when it’s disrupted, your body reacts by:

• Increasing hunger hormones: Sleep deprivation raises ghrelin (the hunger hormone) and lowers leptin (the satiety hormone), making you crave high-calorie foods.

• Elevating cortisol and insulin resistance: High cortisol levels lead to insulin resistance, making it harder for your body to burn fat.

• Disrupting metabolism: Your body conserves energy when you don’t sleep well, slowing down weight loss.

Melatonin is critical to sleep and Cortisol dysfunction also decreases your ability to make and respond to melatonin. Many patients take melatonin but do not respond.

This cycle can feel impossible to break— but the good news is, you can support your adrenal health and restore healthy sleep patterns naturally.

Best Supplements for Adrenal Health and Sleep

These targeted nutrients can help balance cortisol and promote restful sleep:

1. Magnesium – Supports relaxation and regulates the nervous system.

2. Ashwagandha – An adaptogen that helps lower high cortisol levels.

3. Rhodiola – Boosts resilience to stress and fights adrenal fatigue and is a great way to control cravings.

4. Phosphatidylserine – Helps lower nighttime cortisol and improves deep sleep.

5. B Vitamins (especially B5 and B6) –Support adrenal function and neurotransmitter balance.

Behavioral Techniques to Reduce Stress and Improve Sleep

Along with supplements, these simple lifestyle changes can reset your adrenal health:

• Morning Sunlight – Expose yourself to natural light early in the day to regulate your cortisol curve.

• Limit Stimulants – Reduce caffeine, especially in the afternoon, to prevent cortisol spikes.

• Breathwork & Meditation – Techniques like deep breathing and mindfulness lower cortisol and promote relaxation.

• Consistent Sleep Schedule – Go to bed and wake up at the same time daily to support your natural circadian rhythm.

• Wind-Down Routine – Avoid screens an hour before bed, take a warm bath, or read a book to signal your body that it’s time to rest.

Reduce exposure to the light from technology at night. Your phone, iPad or tablet, computers, TV etc all emit a light that decreases melatonin production and interferes with sleep.

The Bottom Line

If you’re struggling with weight loss, addressing your adrenal health and sleep patterns could be the game-changer you need. By managing stress, supporting your adrenal glands with the right nutrients, and improving your sleep quality, you can restore balance and optimize your metabolism.

LEE ROBINSON

They say you’re never too old to chase a dream—and Lee Robinson is living, singing proof.

At 69, he’s just released Hope Song, his third and most definitive album yet. But this isn’t just a record—it’s the culmination of a lifetime spent in harmony with the rhythm of the world around him. From his roots in Bogalusa, Louisiana, to his soulful breakthroughs in Detroit, spiritual awakenings in Germany, and a creative rebirth in Texas, Lee Robinson’s story is one of music, meaning, and above all—hope.

The Soul of a Southern Boy

Born in 1955 in the deep musical cradle of Louisiana, Lee was raised on Sunday morning gospel. In church, he learned to dissect harmony—first tenor, second tenor, baritone—absorbing the structure and spirit of

soul music from a young age. Music ran in his blood. His cousin, the great Little Willie John, was already a chart-topping legend when Lee was just a child. Willie’s success— and his later induction into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame, pushed forward by Stevie Wonder—was proof that talent from humble beginnings could go global.

That possibility became personal the day 12-year-old Lee walked into a Woolworth department store to shop for school clothes. When an alarm unexpectedly sounded, a man opened a cabinet, handed him a prize, and said, “Congratulations, you’re a transistor radio man.” That tiny radio would change his life—tuning his ears to the world of R&B, soul, and funk.

The Harmony of Brotherhood

Alongside his younger brother, Michael Linder-Smith Gerald Harrington, Lee started mowing lawns to buy records—45s and comedy albums they’d memorize and mimic. They formed a singing group in high school and wowed audiences with their tight harmonies and synchronized moves. The school music director was so blown away by their

audition performance that she used it as an example of excellence. Their band, City, Country, City, became a local favorite. By 11th grade, Lee had earned enough working summer school programs to buy his first real drum set. He and Michael began gigging professionally. But music had to pause in 1973 when Lee enlisted and served three years in the Vietnam era. When he returned, he married his high school sweetheart, Barbara Ann Cook, and the couple had three children. The family soon moved to Detroit, where music made its way back into his life. There, Lee and Michael rebranded as The Robinson Brothers and hit the ground running—playing clubs like the iconic 20 Grand Night Club, collaborating with musicians fresh off the road with George Clinton, and networking with figures like Robert Robinson, son of Ray Charles. They brushed shoulders with legends and recorded tracks in studios pulsing with the spirit of Motown and funk.

The Search for Spirit

In 1987, Lee rejoined the Army and moved his family to Germany. It was there, in the quiet after the music, that he found something deeper: faith. He found God. He found the Spirit. He found Jesus. That spiritual shift would forever influence his worldview—and eventually, his music. The Texas Resurrection Fast forward to 2007. Now back in the U.S. and looking to make music again, Lee walked into a Texas studio looking for help with a new record. Behind the glass was Chris Lieck—a seasoned producer, CEO, and Texas rock icon. When Lee asked about recording an album, something sparked. They started slow, with Lee’s first album taking nearly two years. The second followed the same pace. But when it came time to record Hope Song, everything changed. The process exploded with clarity and purpose. Hope Song became more than just

another project—it became a masterpiece. Years of experience in the studio, decades of living, and a lifetime of soul came together in a burst of creative energy. The result?

A classic record with modern production. Hope Song showcases hit-level songwriting, heartfelt performances, and tight, polished arrangements. Tracks like “I Remember You” blend retro melodies with current polish, complete with a nostalgic music video set in a 1950s-style home. The title track, “Hope Song,” delivers a timeless message of faith and perseverance. And perhaps most poignant of all is “Eastwood,” an emotional tribute to the historic Eastwood Country Club in San Antonio—a sanctuary where Black entertainers flourished in the 1950s. It’s a history lesson wrapped in rhythm, paying homage to a sacred space that helped shape American music.

The Message in the Music

Hope Song is more than an album—it’s the story of a man who never stopped believing. From back porches to war zones, Detroit clubs to German chapels, Lee Robinson has kept his heart tuned to the beat of something higher. Now, with Hope Song, he’s sharing it with the world.

In a time where youth dominates the airwaves, Lee Robinson stands tall as a reminder that soul has no age limit, and that wisdom, pain, love, and faith only make the music richer.

After all, the best songs come from a life well-lived.
