FAQs 1
Does SHINEFINITY contain pPD or pTD?
2
Is SHINEFINITY an acidic hair colour?
No, SHINEFINITY doesn’t contain pPD or pTD. However, other ingredients in this product may still cause allergic reactions that can be severe. Although the risk of developing a new allergy is reduced, there remains a risk of an allergic reaction that can be severe. Always perform an allergy alert test 48 hours before each colouration. If your client has ever experienced an allergic reaction to hair colourants, you should not colour. Follow safety instructions and consult education.wella.com.
Yes and no. SHINEFINITY is formulated featuring pH–balanced technology. It starts mildly alkaline so that the cuticles can swell and open slightly and the colour molecules can enter the hair shaft for optimal colour formation. Simultaneously, the pH slowly starts to drop to a gentle acidic range to protect the integrity of the hair.
3
What is the difference between a gloss and a glaze? Glossing is a temporary, fast, shine service. Glazing will penetrate slightly deeper and give a demi-permanent result. SHINEFINITY Colour Glaze is a ZERO lift, ZERO damage service, making it ideal when you want to preserve the natural hair and the highs and lows. Glossing is perfect for a quick shine boost as an add-on to any service when minimal tonal change is needed.
4
How do I know which SHINEFINITY shades to use when I’ve used another colour brand? We have created specific comparison tables with other colour brand shades and how you can achieve them with SHINEFINITY. Please have a look at the Wella Professionals Shade Chart app (Appstore & Android), or get in touch with your local sales representative, professional store, Wella Advisory Helpline or Wella Studio for more information.
5
What is the % of oxidation in the SHINEFINITY Activator?
6
What does the ‘0’ before the level mean? Does this change the level of the colour?
The activator does contain 2% Hydrogen Peroxide which when in use has a concentration of 1%; this is just one component of the overall activator formula.
The ‘0’ in front of the stroke indicates translucency; ZERO lift and ZERO damage.

FAQs 7
Is SHINEFINITY vegan?
8
Does SHINEFINITY fade out completely after 6 weeks/20 washes?
SHINEFINITY is formulated without animal derived ingredients but does not have vegan credentialing.
Depending on the shade, the application, and application time, the colour for most of the lighter shades is completely rinsed off; dark shades can have prolonged longevity.
9
Why does SHINEFINITY not have plex inside? SHINEFINITY operates in a gentle pH range and doesn’t lift or damage the hair, leaving it soft and healthy-looking. There is no need for a bond builder in the glazing step; use it in the lightening step if needed.
10
What is a ZERO LIFT glaze?
11
How is SHINEFINITY different from Color Touch?
This is a deposit only demi with the longevity of an alkaline demi and the gentleness of an acidic toner. It does not lift the natural base; this will allow the natural character of the hair to shine through.
SHINEFINITY is a demi glaze that does not lift the natural base. As it is featuring the pH–balanced technology it will offer a more translucent finish without the balancing and richness of Color Touch. Color Touch will give more intensity and better balancing properties. It’s an alkaline demi and can therefore lift the natural melanin and give these desired results.
12
Can SHINEFINITY be mixed with other Wella colour?
13
What is the need for 2 different activators? Do I have to stock both?
No, SHINEFINITY can only be used on its own. A change in the pH as a result of mixing it with any other oxidative colour will change the appearance of the end result.
We recommend having both, but it’s up to you to decide. The two activators have been formulated to create the right consistency for both applications. Bottled Activator makes the product suitable for bottle use (fluid, is not drippy and leaves minimum residue in the bottle). Brush and Bowl Activator makes the mass firmer and more cream-like for targeted applications such as custom melts, etc.

FAQs 14
Do the activators work with Blondor? The SHINEFINITY activators have been custom formulated and should only be used with SHINEFINITY. Mixing Blondor with the activators will affect the consistency and pH of the mixed mass thereby affecting the end result significantly. Therefore, it is not recommended.
15
Do the activators work with ILLUMINA COLOR, Koleston Perfect, Color Touch? The SHINEFINITY activators have been custom formulated for SHINEFINITY and should only be used with it. The activators contain a special buffering system (pH–balanced technology) that is tailoured for the SHINEFINITY tint only. Mixing ILLUMINA COLOR, Koleston Perfect or Color Touch with the SHINEFINITY activators will impact the pH of the mixed mass thereby affecting the end colour result significantly. Therefore, it is not recommended.
16
Can I use SHINEFINITY with any other developer/activator?
17
Why are their no level 10s? How do we communicate this to shade users who use level 10?
No, any other developer that might be used will not contain the pH–balanced technology and will compromise the colour results significantly.
For level 10 results you can mix the 09/ shades with 00/00 1:1.
18
Can I do grey blending with SHINEFINITY?
19
Can I use heat with SHINEFINITY, is there any difference in results?
20
Do I need to perform an allergy alert test for SHINEFINITY?
Yes, it can be used for subtle grey blending on the first signs of grey. The result is natural and reflective. For best result use on hair that is 30% grey (maximum); it will not create any coverage.
Yes, using heat gives more intense results which is great when you want to intensify your reds or blend away first signs of grey hair. No cool down time needed!
Like with any other product using oxidative dyes, the risk of an allergic reaction when using SHINEFINITY still exists. That’s why you should always perform an allergy alert test 48 hours before any SHINEFINITY services.

FAQs 21
Can a colour remover (e.g Color Renew) be used to remove SHINEFINITY? Yes, but 100% discolouration is not possible with most shades. The extent to which the colour will be removed depends on the shading. In principle, blue tones will be the easiest to remove and red tones will be the most difficult. Please keep in mind that it’s not recommended to use a SHINEFINITY Colour Glaze service after a colour reducer such as Color Renew, as the results may be unpredictable.
