Junior School Bulletin Issue 9 / 22 July 2016
Junior School News Welcome Back to Term 3 Welcome to Term 3. We have certainly hit the ground running. The redevelopment of the Junior School is proceeding as planned and you can see the results of such when you head towards the office. The teaching and learning has begun in earnest with the students beginning work on their new Units of Inquiry. We are looking forward to another fantastic term. ELC “Exceeding” Rating Congratulations to the very hard-working team in the Early Learning Centre on receiving an exceeding rating for all 7 quality areas of the National Quality Standard. This is the highest possible rating and is only achieved by a small percentage of centres. Years 4-6 Athletics Carnival Well done to all students who competed in the athletics carnival last Friday. Well done to Binging House who won the overall shield. The children all competed very hard and showed great spirit in all of their endeavours. Congratulations to the age champions who performed at a very high level. Thank you to Ms West and Mr Manion for their organisation of the carnival and to the parents who braved the cold and cheered on the competitors. It was a great day!
We are very proud of the team and parents can be assured that when they are dropping off their children to our ELC, that they are placed in a centre which is of the highest calibre. New Sensory Playground The students were treated to a new sensory playground on their return from school holidays. It has proven to be very popular with the children having fun exploring the new mazes, banging on the large pipes, balancing on the balls and playing in the new cubby house. Thank you to the Parents and Friends for kindly funding this wonderful addition to the children’s play space. The squeals of excitement are priceless when you see and hear the children playing on it.
Holidays I am receiving parental requests for students to be absent from school to go on family holidays. I understand that it may be very difficult for some families to get leave during the school holiday break, but I would strongly encourage you to consider the detrimental impact it could potentially have on your child’s education should they be away for significant amounts of time. The work that is done in the classroom cannot be replicated in a text book or worksheet. Thank you for your consideration of this matter.
