From the Head of Junior School Exhibition The Primary Years Programme (PYP) Exhibition represents a significant event in the life of a PYP school and student, synthesizing the essential elements of the PYP and sharing them with the whole school community. The students conducted an inquiry and then shared their results on Wednesday night. I would like to congratulate the students on the work that they put into all stages of the inquiry process and the exhibition night was a great culminating event that allowed them to display their understanding of the topics studied.

We are certainly very excited about the ELC starting in January, as the Centre will provide our youngest students with the best possible start to their schooling. Captain’s Speeches One of the aspects of the Junior school that a lot of students look forward to in Year 6 is the opportunity to take on formal leadership opportunities. The Year 5 students have had the chance to nominate for the positions of House, Sporting and Junior School Captain positions for 2015. I was impressed with the quality of the responses in their written applications: they spoke very eloquently in their interviews and they were very articulate in their speeches. Congratulations to all students who have worked extremely hard on their applications. The process of preparing an application, sitting an interview and giving a speech are very good skills to develop, no matter the final outcome of the election. Everybody is Somebody At St Andrews, we believe that everybody is somebody. One of my great privileges each week is to handout a treat to all of the students who are celebrating their birthday. This is one way for me to get to know all of the students and in some small way share in their special day.

Teddy Bear’s Picnic and Day with a Difference Today as a part of Teddy Bear’s Picnic, we welcomed the 84 new Prep students that will be joining us in 2015. All other students in the Junior School as part of Day with a Difference, had the opportunity to visit next year’s classrooms, while the Year 6 students got the opportunity to familiarise themselves with Middle School. Both of these events are an important part in helping children to transition into the College, and the next year level. Helping students to transition effectively is crucial, as it means the learning can start sooner. Early Learning Centre Recently we held an information evening in relation to the new Early Learning Centre. Mr Kotzur welcomed all of the
