Junior School News Student Led Conferences It was great to see so many parents at the recent Student Led Conferences. The conferences are one part of the reporting process. It was encouraging to see the children sharing their work with their parents and explain their thinking process. When students are able to articulate their learning we know that their understanding is solidified and deepened.
Flash Mob There was an unusual conclusion to our Week 8 Assembly. About 150 parents and teachers got up from their seats and started dancing to Uptown Funk. There were stretch limos, trumpets, costumes and some outstanding dancing. The students really enjoyed it and joined in. Thank you to Bec Leo and Cathie Hanson for their organization of the ‘Flash Mob’ dance. I’m sure it will be a highlight for many of our students for months to come.
Trivia Night The Trivia Night was an outstanding success with 38 teams battling it out for trivia supremacy. There was also a competition for best dressed team and table with lots of table groups going to extraordinary lengths to dress in their chosen country’s national colours. There were an amazing number of businesses that supported the night and the College would like to thank them for their generosity. While there was $7130 raised to support the redevelopment of J Block after the fire, the focus for the night was to come together as community and have some fun. This goal was certainly achieved and the College would like to say a huge thank you to parent, Jessica Russell for doing an outstanding job organizing the Trivia Night.
Year 1 Generation Day It was terrific to see so many grandparents of Year 1 students at school on Monday to celebrate Generation Day. It was an important opportunity for the students to learn from their grandparents about what life was like when they were younger. Thank you to those grandparents who travelled long distances to be with their grandchildren on this day. Your grandchildren appreciated it greatly.
