We are in the midst of some very exciting times at Saint Joe’s and I am confident that the excitement will continue as we move forward. While Catholic schools across the country are experiencing a steady decline in enrollment, our enrollment is thriving, because of our commitment to empower students for success.
Your philanthropy led to over $1 million being raised in support of the Saint Joseph Annual Fund, including 2,200 total gifts and 1,019 alumni giving back to the school that made them the men they are today. The generosity of our community is vital to ensuring that future generations of Falcons have access to a Saint Joseph education.
During our most recent Giving Tuesday campaign for The Barn, a new campus weight room, your $64,000 in contributions set a new Giving Tuesday record. I am extremely proud that 22 percent of the alumni donations came from our young alumni (Class of 2011 to 2023) - the largest participation rate in a campaign that we have ever had.
Last summer, I experienced the trip of a lifetime to explore our roots as a Brothers of the Sacred Heart school. Fr. Andre Coindre’s mission continues to guide us forward as exemplified by the brand new Esports lab or The Barn. Taking nothing for granted, we have many other projects planned for the future that will be announced in due course.
Over the past year, I’ve had the pleasure to meet many of our alumni at regional events and reunions on campus. Being with our alumni is one of my favorite parts of leading Saint Joe’s and I can’t wait to see more of you at upcoming events.
Throughout this report, you will see how your continued commitment to our students makes a difference on a daily basis. From need-based financial assistance and scholarships, to funding clubs & activities and athletics, we wouldn’t be successful without you. Every dollar that is raised goes directly to the Saint Joe’s experience.
Thank you so much for all you do on behalf of Saint Joseph High School and our students.
Gratefully,

Over 1,000 Saint Joe’s alumni gave back to the school that made them the men they are today.
Saint Joseph High School hosts numerous events throughout the year to bring the entire community together in the spirit of the brotherhood.
The Brothers of the Sacred Heart and the Leadership of Saint Joseph High School believe that every talented young man deserves access to our rigorous college-preparatory education. Through the Saint Joseph Scholarship Program we provide an opportunity for our alumni and friends to help us make this goal a reality.
Through the program we offer two distinct routes to support our students: annually awarded Non-Endowed Scholarships and permanently established Endowed Scholarships.
Here are examples of three scholarships established by members of our Saint Joseph community:
“Br. Aldric Smith, S.C. was essential to my development as a student and a young man. By offering the Br. Aldric Smith Memorial Scholarship, I hope to honor his memory and empower students who rise to special challenges on the path to success.”
– Steve Pozycki ‘69The Brother Aldric Smith, S.C. Memorial Scholarship was established by Steven Pozycki ’69 in memory of the Novice Master of the Brothers of the Sacred Heart, long-time Principal and Founder of Saint Joe’s swim team. It offers a $2,500 annual award to a student who has a specified learning disability and high IQ, a need for financial assistance and demonstrates promise as a Saint Joe’s young man.
The Daniel Anderl ’18 Memorial Scholarship was established by the “Love Is Light” organization to remember Daniel Anderl ’18, who was tragically killed on July 19, 2020. During Daniel's time at Saint Joe's he participated in varsity baseball and was deeply involved in the Saint Joseph community. The scholarship offers an annual award of $4,000 to a student for his Junior and Senior year who exemplifies Danny’s spirit as a “Saint Joseph Man.”
The Cpl. Kevin J. Reinhard ‘05 Scholarship was established by the Reinhard family to remember their son and brother who died on January 19, 2012 in Afghanistan while serving his country as a Marine. The scholarship grants an annual award of $2,500 to an incoming freshman during his tenure at Saint Joe’s and a one-time award of $1,000 to a graduating senior to support his future studies.
The opportunities to memorialize a loved one or a lifelong mentor while supporting a current or future Saint Joseph Falcon are endless. For more information, go to www.StJoes.org/scholarships to learn more about our Scholarship program
Saint Joseph High School’s signature events have become hallmarks for enjoying camaraderie and the heartfelt pride of Saint Joe’s Alumni and extended Falcon family. While each event has a different objective, the Signature Event Series anchors the in-person fundraising for Saint Joe’s.
The spring season brings our annual Falcon Golf Classic, hosted at Forsgate Country Club in Monroe Township. A day of fun with a bit of friendly competition, the event has grown significantly in recent years to over 140 players and is generating $45,000 in fundraising dollars.
The Mothers Club annual Raffle and Pocketbook Bingo are events that bring Falcon parents and community members from far and wide to enjoy a night of excitement in hopes of taking home their favorite prize. A good time is had by all and funds raised for need based financial assistance have grown to $80,000 net in recent years.
In the Fall we host our annual Green Tie Gala, an evening highlighting our community’s commitment to Father André Coindre’s charism and the mission of the Brothers of the Sacred Heart. Through a night of reminiscing with fellow alumni and family, along with the joy of wonderful music and dancing, the Green Tie Gala is the school’s largest fundraising event, seeing a 43 percent increase in attendance and over $95,000 donated to the Saint Joseph Annual Fund in FY2023.
Our largest fundraiser of the year occurs annually on March 19 when the entire community comes together on Saint Joseph Giving Day In 2023, 788 gifts raised over $220,000 for the Saint Joseph Annual Fund, a new Giving Day record.
Saint Joseph High School is excited to announce the formalization of our legacy donor recognition program, the Evergreen Society.
Express your commitment to the future of Saint Joseph through a special form of financial support, called a planned gift. Many gifts in this donation category cost you nothing during your lifetime.
A planned gift can range from naming Saint Joseph High School as a bequest in your will, to a gift of a retirement account, life insurance policy and/or charitable income gifts. These are just a few avenues to give in the estate planning arena. Detailed information on all types of planned giving can be found at www.StJoes.org/planned-giving.
Your membership in the Evergreen Society involves no dues, obligations or solicitations, but it does allow us to thank you and recognize you for the
planned gift you have designated. It will also inspire generosity in fellow Alumni and Falcon donors.
We invite you to consider becoming a member of our Evergreen Society. Benefits of membership will include an annual luncheon launching in 2025, invitations to our signature events and a subscription to our TODAY magazine. And the best benefit is knowing that your gift supports the sustainability of Saint Joseph High School to empower future Saint Joe’s Men.
If you have already bequeathed Saint Joseph High School in your estate plans, please contact Nancy Alfano at nalfano@stjoes.org.
One of the advantages to Saint Joe’s holistic approach to education is the formative opportunities available to students through robust co-curricular/extracurricular activities. With over 40 clubs and organizations on campus, students have ample opportunities to learn new skills and interests. Career exploration and leadership are two of the main components of the co-curricular/ extracurricular program.
Saint Joe’s award-winning Robotics team is one of the most popular programs on campus. Boasting opportunities in science, technology, engineering and mathematics, the Robotics program offers students a unique opportunity to use their individual talents and creativity to build a robot from the ground up. During Fiscal Year 22/23, major donations to the Robotics team created exciting opportunities for students to design and build new features for their robot. The Robotics lab, known as a makerspace, was also redesigned to create a better work environment for the students.
A second cutting-edge facility is also launching in 2024 thanks to a generous donation from an anonymous member of the Saint Joseph Class of 1965. Offering educational programs in computer science, web design, communications/marketing and leadership, the Saint Joseph Esports Lab will expand the school’s STEM program and open doors into the fast-growing digital marketplace. To date, 20 percent of the student body is interested in the program that is already featured in over 170 colleges and universities across the country, with many offering scholarships for team participants.
The Saint Joseph Model United Nations and Youth & Government teams continue to dominate the eastern region of the United States. Last year, Model UN took home 13 team and individual awards, including a “Premier Delegate,” an honor bestowed on the best delegates at the annual conference. Multiple Falcons were elected officers for the 2024 conference, several delegates were invited to attend the Conference on National Affairs, an exclusive conference that brings together the best students in Civic Engagement programs from around the country.
A core objective at Saint Joe’s is to guide students By integrating faith into their daily lives. Through a combination of classroom activities, community service, and formation days, a Saint Joe’s education is steeped in the principles of faith, with a strong emphasis on the practical application of religious values in their everyday experiences.
Christian values are embedded across the campus. Masses led by campus chaplain Fr. Thomas Lanza serve as regular opportunities for students to deepen their understanding of God’s presence in their lives. Campus Ministry empowers students to contribute their time, talent, and treasure for the greater good. Included in the 14,000 annual service hours accumulated by the student body is the monthly “Falcons and Friends” program, which brings people with disabilities to campus for fun-filled activities and friendship with our students.
Annual service trips provide first hand exposure to the realities of life for those less fortunate. These experiences foster a heightened awareness of essential life factors, including faith in God and the importance of family. As a result, students return home with an enriched understanding of these fundamental values, reinforcing the guiding principles that define the educational ethos of Saint Joseph.
The Faith and Formation program at Saint Joseph High School exemplifies a commitment to Christian values in action.
Campus Ministry is one of the largest extracurricular activities on campus, with over 75 percent of the school population participating. Last year, Saint Joseph High School raised $59,000 during the third annual Giving Tuesday campaign. The funds went to creating an open and engaging environment, including upgrades to the Campus Ministry facility and providing more service opportunities for students.
One of Campus Ministry’s most popular events is Cardboard City, which raises money and awareness for Covenant House - New Jersey, a worldwide nonprofit that supports homeless and at-risk teenagers across the world. Each year, students camp in cardboard boxes, learning what life is like for underprivileged teens. During the 2023 campout, students raised over $31,000 for Covenant House.
Did you know…
Saint Joe’s students completed over 14,000 service hours during the 2022/2023 school year? These hours include service trips, campus fundraisers and initiatives, and community service.
On behalf of your Saint Joseph High School Board of Directors, I am proud to report to our community that this past year was one of great success. By many key measures, our school is on a positive trajectory forward.
As a Board, our primary focus is to strengthen the financial health and future of the school. Our work is rooted in the principles of academic and athletic excellence. Enhancing Saint Joe’s in these ways ensures that we possess the resources to provide a high quality education to every student who joins the Saint Joseph brotherhood.
Enrollment continues to serve as a key indicator for Saint Joe’s. Under the leadership of our Director of Admissions, Miguel Cabrita ‘91, the Class of 2027 exceeded 170 students and stands as the largest freshman class in over a decade. Simply put, Saint Joseph High School is the desired high school choice for more and more young men. This is the result
of diligence and a steadfast effort from Principal Anne Rivera and her fellow Partners in Mission, and of course President John Nolan and his staff.
Some of the key highlights of this past year include:
z Through the generosity of supporters, fundraising revenue exceeded $1 million from 2,205 gifts.
z Two of our signature events exceeded previous results: The Falcon Golf Classic saw a 20 percent increase in participation and the Green Tie Gala set a new record by raising over $95,000 net
z Major donations to the Robotics program allowed for the purchase of much needed technology and a redesigned makerspace.
z The Class of 1965 led a crowdfunding effort to develop an Esports lab, which will expand the school’s STEM program and open doors into the fast-growing digital marketplace.
These are just a few accomplishments that showcase the Saint Joe’s journey to excellence which serves as an inspiration to current and future Falcons.
A sincere and heartfelt thank you to the entire community for your continued loyalty and belief in our mission. Saint Joseph’s future is bright and we are eager to achieve more success together this year!
Sincerely,
