LOUIE
Hi. My name is Louie.
I am a 15 month old Labradoodle.
I am going to be the Wellbeing Dog at Saint Ignatius’ College Junior School.
I can’t wait to meet you.

When I am at home I like to play with my toys.
I especially love to play fetch with a ball.

I
like to spend time with my human brother and sister at the park

...and my sister, Charlie.
I
like to go for walks with my family, and run around at the dog park.
I can run very fast... especially when I have someone’s socks!

My
favourite snacks are cheese and sausages

and I really love chewing on bull sticks

I am learning lots of new things about being a Wellbeing Dog.

I am not the same as your pet dog at home.

Being a Wellbeing Dog means that I have a special job to do.
When I am at school, I am working hard to spread happiness to students and our school community.
I can help you feel more relaxed if you are feeling worried or upset.
To help me with my important job it is important you are calm and respectful at all times.

To help me feel safe and happy, these three things are very important to remember:
1. Say hello to the person, we don’t say my name, that could be confusing.
2. Give lots of space and walk right around me.
3. Keep walking – don’t stop and stare at me, it might make me feel nervous.
When you do these things, I will be happy and relaxed at school.

When I come to school some teachers will look after me.
They will know when I am ready to play and when I am ready to rest.
I will need everyone’s help to feel happy and relaxed.

If the teacher tells you I am ready, you can pat me... on my back, on my chest, and on my tummy. I don’t like to be touched on the top of my head or on my tail.

When I am happy and relaxed, you will see me in lots of places in the school.
On some days I will be on the oval, on some days I will be in the piazza, and on some days, I will be waiting to greet you in the walkway.

I can’t wait to meet you all in Term 3!
