As always, lot’s of love and passion is behind the creation of every Holebrook collection. We are a small, dedicated team with high demands on the end product. Quality, sustainability and long-lasting design are main criterias that we aim to fulfill in every garment that you see.

During 2024 the brand Holebrook has undergone a rebranding. We have defined ourselves, our values and the essence of Holebrook. We now know our purpose and what makes us unique. Through new words and visuals we build a voice that is consistent, inspiring and grounded. This also reflects the developement in our collections.

The Spring / Summer collection is about ”looking back to move forward”, in a positive way. Bringing our heritage back to life in contemporary and updated styles. Well-known structures and classic patterns like cables, stripes and jaquard capture our core and ad value and authenticity to our new windproof collection. In the women’s collection you will find our popular signature cotton collection aswell as an updated milano knit series. Cool jersey in new stripes and patterns. Our men’s collection is defined by our concept showcasing core knitted sweaters. A small curated collection with a summer vibe. We continue to develop our versatile golf collection, adding a few new windproof styles in natural materials with high functional properties. Its timeless design ensures seamless transitions from the golf course to your everyday life.

Our garments are produced in Europe, always and forever. We meticulously choose materials that prolongs the lifespan of the garments, which is one of the most important aspects when it comes to sustainability. We don’t chase trends. Instead we believe in slow, thoughtful fashion. Our goal is to create garments that are cherished and worn often – until they’re nearly fall apart. And then, just a little longer. We see a brighter future in taking responsibility, using resources wisely, and rejecting the wastefulness of fast fashion and runaway consumption that burden our planet.

YARN CERTIFICATIONS

The Responsible Wool Standard aims to improve the welfare of sheep and the land they graze on. The Responsible Wool Standard (RWS) requires all sites, from wool farmers to the seller in the final business-to-business transaction, to be certified. RWS farmers and ranchers must meet animal welfare, land management, and social requirements.

The RCS and GRS are designed to boost the use of recycled materials. The Recycled Claim Standard (RCS) and Global Recycled Standrad (GRS) set the criteria for third-party certification of recycled materials and chain of custody. The GRS includes a higher (50 %) minimum recycled content percentage and additional social and environmental requirements to processing and chemical use.

Bluesign is a standard for environmental certification of textile production The basic idea behind Bluesign® is to combine aspects for health, water consumption, chemical and air emissions in a single standard. The Bluesign® standard guarantees that products along the entire production chain contain only components and pass through processes that are harmless to people and the environment.

The Organic Content Standard is a voluntary certification issued and administered by the organization Textile Exchange. The purpose of the certification is to be able to verify and trace organically grown material in a final product. OCS is based on a third-party verification of the material flow through the supply chain. Worth noting is that OCS focuses entirely on the organic content of a product. Chemical use and social factors are not covered by the certification. If the symbol Organic 100 is used, it means that 100% of the raw material in the product is organically certified.

The Responsible Mohair Standrad addresses animal welfare and environmental responsibility in mohair supply chains. OEKO-TEX® STANDARD 100 is a label for textiles tested for harmful substances. It sets the benchmark for textile safety, from yarn to finished product. Every item bearing the STANDARD 100 label is certified as having passed safety tests for the presence of harmful substances.

Woolmark is the world’s most famous quality certification of wool products. A textile product marked with the Woolmark guarantees that it is made of 100% pure wool. Woolmark is a wool industry certification mark used on pure wool products that meet quality standards set by The Woolmark Company. It is a trade mark owned by The Woolmark Company, which has since 2007 been a subsidiary of Australian Wool Innovation Limited (AWI).

The Global Organic Textile Standard (GOTS) is an international environmental label for natural fibers. It regulates the limitation of harmful substances and emissions in the entire production chain. The certification is based on two main principles. It requires natural fibers that must be certified organically grown according to EU directives and controls are required throughout the entire production chain of the organic cotton. Each process step (spinning, weaving/knitting, preparation, etc.) must meet special criteria, where the greatest possible consideration is given to the environment in each step.

MATERIAL & CARE GUIDE

Choosing the right materials and yarns is an important part of our daily work. It is the foundation of our design work and our sustainability efforts. It is also a great source of inspiration for the development of our collections. The lifespan of a garment depends on a number of aspects. For us, this means timeless design and high quality, natural materials such as wool, cotton, mohair and alpaca. Taking care of your garments in the right way is also important and can extend the lifespan by several years and reducing its impact on the environment. Follow and share our advice on how to care for and wash your clothes and they can be enjoyed for a long time.

MATERIAL: WOOL AND WOOL BLENDS

MERINO WOOL

Our soft and high quality Merino wool is made from yarn produced by a spinning mill in Italy. The yarn is produced using a unique and innovative spinning process that produces a high quality, soft and durable yarn. Garments knitted with extra fine merino wool are soft, warm and very comfortable to wear. Merino wool comes from the merino sheep. The fibres are much thinner than our Nordic wool and when they come into contact with the skin, they will bend and therefore merino wool does not itch or sting. Merino wool also has unique temperature regulating properties and is often used in outdoor clothing. It breathes, transport moisture and heat away from the body when it’s hot, and has the ability to retain heat when it’s cold.

WOOL + POLYAMIDE

There are many advantages to blending different types of wool together, but also to blending wool with other materials such as polyamide or viscose. The result is a material that takes advantage of the properties of natural materials, but adds even more good qualities, such as durability in the form of longevity of the garment, or extra softness that feels luxurious. The blend of wool and polyamide retains the warmth and self-cleaning properties of wool and adds the durability of polyamide. The result is a high quality garment that retains its shape and is durable, yet soft and comfortable to wear. Our best wool blend is called Eyre and consists of 80% wool and 20% polyamide. It is important to have a high proportion of natural material, otherwise the garment does not breathe and all the properties of the wool are not retained.

WOOL + WOOL

In our collection we also create garments where we mix different types of wool to create new exciting materials with an exclusive feel and durable, functional properties. For example, lambswool with cashmere, or extra fine merino wool with fine alpaca. The result is an exclusive material with fantastic softness that feels luxurious and comfortable to wear. Garments with a high proportion of natural materials rarely need washing, just airing. This prolongs the lifespan of the garment.

ALPACA

The alpaca is a camelid native to the Andes. The wool fibre is incredibly soft and warm, with silky fibres that can grow up to twenty centimeters long. The wool is durable and non-itching, but less elastic than sheep’s wool. Alpaca comes in 22 natural colours, but the lighter shades are often dyed to the desired colour. In our collections we use alpaca wool blended with extra fine merino wool and polyamide. Alpaca wool has extra warming properties compared to sheep’s wool and it is mainly used in our autumn and winter collection. Alpaca is exclusive and our garments are luxurious and more expensive. To make them last, the design is timeless and created with slow fashion in mind.

MOHAIR

Mohair is a wool fibre obtained from the Angora goat. The fibres are long, between one and three centimetres. In our garments we often use kid mohair, which, as the name suggests, is wool from goats that have been shorn for the first time. It is thin and soft. Mohair is a ’strong’ fibre with a lot of shine and lustre. Mohair creates garments with a luxurious, fluffy feel. Airy and lightweight garments that still have the warming properties of wool. Mohair is often mixed with elastane and polyamide for a durable design and garment that retains its shape.

CASHMERE

Cashmere wool comes from the cashmere goat, which lives in Inner Mongolia and China. The goats live in a very cold climate and have two layers of wool. The top layer is coarser and acts as a protective layer, while the bottom, finer layer has insulating properties. The wool is only harvested once a year and its limited availability contributes to its high price. Handling the wool also makes it more expensive. The wool is cleaned and the fine undercoat must be separated from the coarser wool. The wool that is then spun into yarn is curly, soft and exclusive. A cashmere garment is incredibly soft and comfortable against the skin. Cashmere garments are light, yet warm and breathable. It feels luxurious and exclusive. Like other wool, cashmere is self-cleaning, and airing the garment is usually enough to keep it fresh.

CAREGUIDE: WOOL AND WOOL BLENDS

AIRING

Wool is a self-cleaning fibre. It has natural antibacterial and odour-resisting properties, which means that wool garments stay fresh for much longer than cotton and synthetic garments without the need for washing. This means fewer washes over the life of the garment and less impact on the environment. The best way to ventilate your wool garments is to air them. Hang your wool garment out overnight, preferably in damp weather. If you get a stain, try to remove it as quickly as possible to avoid washing. If a musty smell persists, it may be time to wash. Use a mild wool detergent.

WASHING WOOL

If your woolen garment is not fresh after airing or is stained, it may be time to wash it. Always check the washing instructions on the garment first. It is important to wash wool in cold water, no hotter than 30 degrees. You can machine wash our wool garments on a wool cycle or hand wash cycle. However, it is important to use a detergent designed for wool or a mild detergent with a PH of 6-8. Conventional detergents contain enzymes that break down the wool fibre directly. Use a washing bag to protect the garment. Never use bleach or fabric softener as this can damage the wool fibres and cause the garment to lose its shape.

DRYING CLOTHES IN WOOL

Never wring or squeeze the water out of your woollen garment. Instead, place it on a dry towel and roll it up to remove excess water. Then lay it flat on a clean surface at room temperature to dry. Avoid direct sunlight.

IRONING WOOLEN CLOTHES

If your woolen garment needs ironing, use a steam iron on a low heat. Place a towel between the iron and the garment to avoid burning or damaging the wool fibres. It is also possible to steam your garment.

PILLING

Pilling is both common and natural in woolen garments. It occurs when the shortest fibre of the yarn reaches the surface of the garment. Pilling is easily removed with a wool comb.

STORING

Wool knitwear should be folded, not hanged. Also make sure the environment is dry and well ventilated. If you need to store your woollen garment for a long period of time, consider the following: Store your woollen garment in a dry place, never in a plastic bag or in direct sunlight. A woolen garment is very susceptible to moths. Make sure the garment is clean and dry before putting it away. Invest in cedar mothballs and keep them with your woollen knitwear.

MATERIAL: COTTON

ORGANIC COTTON – LESS ENVIRONMENTAL IMPACT

Cotton is a material we use in many of our garments. It is both renewable and naturally biodegradable. Cotton has been one of the main fibres used in textile manufacturing for thousands of years and has many benefits. It is soft, durable, breathable and has cooling properties by absorbing moisture. Cotton is also good for sensitive skin as it is non-allergenic.

At Holebrook, we set high standards for sustainability, quality and environmental impact when choosing yarn and materials. That is why we choose organic cotton instead of conventional cotton whenever possible. Here are the reasons:

• Organic cotton means that it is grown and manufactured completely without chemical pesticides, artificial fertilizers or genetically modified seeds (GMOs) that affect biodiversity.

• For the cotton to be classified as organic, the soil it has been grown on must also have been free of chemicals for at least three years and crop rotation must be applied. This means a more complicated cultivation process that promotes biodiversity, but also makes organic cotton more expensive than non-organic cotton.

• Organic cotton is known and loved for its beneficial properties: it is hypoallergenic and breathable. It is also durable, which means that the garments have a long lifespan.

CAREGUIDE: COTTON

WASHING

Cotton is durable and more resistant to wear than for example wool. As a result, cotton can be machine washed and ironed. Always read the washing instructions on the garment first and prepare the garment by turning it inside out, closing zips, etc. Wash your cotton garment at the temperature indicated on the care label. Our garments can be machine washed unless otherwise stated, often with the wrong side out. To maintain colour, use a detergent designed for coloured garments and a different one for white garments. Do not use fabric softener.

DRYING YOUR COTTON GARMENTS

Cotton can shrink when washed. To keep your knitted sweater in shape, it can be stretched and shaped when wet. Most of our sweaters should be hung to dry and not tumble dried.

IRONING YOUR COTTON GARMENTS

If the sweater needs to be ironed, use a steam iron and iron it on a low heat.

STORING

A knitted sweater should be folded, not hanged. Also make sure the environment is dry and well ventilated. If you need to store your knitted garment for a long period of time, keep this in mind: Store it in a dry place, never in a plastic bag or in direct sunlight. Also, make sure your sweater is clean and dry before putting it away. Invest in some cedarwood mothballs and keep them with your cotton knitwear.

MATERIAL: LINEN AND LINEN BLEND

LINEN

Linen is a material with a beautiful lustre and vibrant texture. Like cotton, linen is a material that feels cool against the skin and breathes naturally. Linen is often used in classic summer garments such as trousers, shirts and dresses. Linen also has antiseptic properties, which is good for your skin. If you have sensitive skin or skin problems, linen is usually a good choice. Linen is an environmentally friendy material. Flax is an ancient and valuable plant fibre obtained from the flax plant. It is a material that is resistant to pests and requires fewer pesticides. Linen also requires less water to grow than other fibres, making it a responsible and environmentally friendly choice. Linen can also be grown in colder climates where many other crops cannot. Linen fabric is a durable material that can withstand wear and tear, so clothing will last a long time.

LINEN MIXED WITH COTTON

Our linen blend is 55% linen and 45% cotton. The cotton also absorbs moisture and makes the garment slightly softer. The cotton also helps the garment retain its shape and does not stretch. Our linen blend has been awarded the Oeko-Tex label, which means that the garments do not contain any substances that are harmful to your skin or health, as the use of chemicals in the production process has been minimised.

CAREGUIDE: LINEN

WASHING AND DRYING

Linen is naturally dirt-resistant and it is sufficient to air the garment and, if possible, try to remove individual stains directly. If the garment needs to be washed, it is important to follow the washing instructions on the garment. Do not wash your linen garment in a detergent that is too strong, as this can reduce both the shine and strength of the linen fabric. Use a mild detergent instead. Linen benefits from being washed in plenty of water and can be soaked before washing. Be careful with the spin cycle and feel free to squeeze out the garment. Wash at 40 or 60 degrees, depending on the garment’s label. Then hang to dry and leave to drip dry. Do not tumble dry. Linen may release some excess fluff during washing, which can be easily removed with a brush. Linen may shrink a little when washed, but will regain its shape when ironed or used.

IRONING OR STEAMING

Ironing your linen garment is fine. Iron on a high heat. It helps if the garment is slightly damp when you iron it. You can also steam your linen garment. This will make it softer in a natural way.

STORING

Store your linen rolled up. This will prevent the fibres from breaking. If you fold your linen garment, vary the fold from time to time. Store your linen in a dark, dry place.

MATERIAL: VISCOSE AND VISCOSE BLEND

Viscose is a semi-synthetic material made from cellulose. Converting cellulose into viscose involves a chemical treatment, but the end result is a material that combines many of the best properties of both natural and synthetic fibres. Viscose is an exciting material with many possibilities and properties. It has the ability to stretch, which is why it is blended with elastane or polyamide, for example, to keep the shape of the garment. It transports away moisture and is comfortable to wear. Viscose drapes beautifully in garments and moves with the body like few other fabrics. You could say that viscose is a semi-synthetic material that combines the best of both natural and synthetic fibres.

CAREGUIDE: VISCOSE BLEND

WASHING AND DRYING

Often just airing will do the trick! Our knitted viscose garments will become fresh and regain their shape with airing. But if odour doesn’t go away with airing, or if the garment is dirty, you’ll need to wash it. Always read the washing instructions on the garment first. It is important to wash viscose gently at a low temperature to avoid shrinkage. Wash at the temperature indicated on the washing instructions and use a laundry bag to protect the garment. Unless otherwise stated, our garments can be machine washed on an appropriate hand wash or wool/silk programme. Viscose can contract and shrink slightly in the washing machine. If this happens, you can use a steamer or iron to restore the shape of the garment.

DRYING CLOTHES IN VISCOSE

Never wring or squeeze the water out of your viscose knitwear. Instead, place it on a dry towel and roll it up to remove excess water. Lay the garment flat on a clean surface at room temperature to dry. Avoid direct sunlight.

IRONING CLOTHES IN VISCOSE

If the garment needs ironing, use a steam iron on a low heat. You can also use a steamer.

STORING

Do not hang your knitted viscose garments as this may affect their shape. Instead, fold them and make sure the environment is dry and airy. If you need to store your garment for a longer period of time, remember: store your garment in a dry place, never in a plastic bag or in direct sunlight. The garment should be clean and dry before you store it.

MATERIAL IN OUR WINDPROOF SWEATERS

Nature’s own functional materials are the starting point for our windproof collection. Knitted garments in wool and cotton, designed to follow nature’s changes rather than trends. Reinforced with our own windproof elasticated linings, they stop the wind but not the movement.

HOLEBROOK WINDPROOF LINING

Natural materials such as wool and cotton have inherent functional properties. When lining our sweaters and jackets, we take advantage of these properties and add a material that also takes into account the movement of the body and the flexibility of the knit. To achieve the windproof function, we created our own lining for our windproof collection. It consists of 96% polyester and 4% elastane. The elastane makes the fabric breathable and stretchy. In other words, it stops the wind but not the movement and breathability of the sweater. No chemicals are used in the manufacturing process, instead a special weaving technique is used to create a very dense weave that makes the fabric windproof. Our linings are OEKOTEX® STANDARD 100 certified.

PIUMI

Designed for light outdoor activities, our windproof sweaters and jackets feature water-repellent quilted details on the most exposed areas. The fabric is called Piumi and has a water repellent treatment. The treatment is organic and free of fluorocarbon, a common chemical used to produce waterproof fabrics. The fabric has been certified with the Oeko-Tex® Standard 100, which guarantees that the fabric is free of harmful substances. Piumi is also a breathable fabric. This maintains the benefits and properties of the knitted fabric, such as transport away moisture and retaining heat.

LAVALAN®

We use Lavalan® in our quilted details. A Swedish wool filling that is renewable, recyclable and biodegradable. It is 85% wool and 15% a corn-based synthetic fibre (PLA). Lavalan® has many functions and is ideal for outdoor activities. It insulates, regulates temperature and transports moisture. It is a high-tech material created by nature. The wool is fully traceable and OEKO-TEX® STANDARD 100 certified.
