Riding the Heat Wave: Grounding Your Health and Finances This Summer
IN Sahuarita, July brings more than just heat—it invites a deeper sense of rhythm. As midday temperatures climb, residents are learning to adapt with calm and intention, anchoring their routines around early mornings, restful afternoons, and meaningful choices that stretch both wellness and wallet.
Take the Montoya family: they’ve shifted their daily rhythm to embrace the early hours. Morning walks, sunrise smoothies, and unplugged breakfast picnics by the lake have replaced rushed commutes and screen-heavy routines. Financially, they’re practicing “summer slowdown spending”—minimizing impulse buys, batching errands, and taking advantage of free local fun like library events, splash pad afternoons, and movie nights under the stars.
Hydration and nutrition take center stage
this month, too. Lightweight meals with local produce—cucumbers, melons, grilled fish—help the body stay cool and the budget stay balanced. Smoothies and infused waters keep energy steady without relying on expensive, sugar-heavy drinks.
Thinking of a mid-summer getaway? July is a great time to stay rooted. Local staycations, RV weekends, or even backyard retreats can bring joy without the stress of travel costs. And if your RV, camping gear, or unused sports equipment is sitting idle, consider selling or renting it out—it’s a chance to simplify and earn a little extra.
This July, let Sahuarita’s summer pace be your guide. Move with purpose. Spend with clarity. Choose presence over pressure. With a little creativity and a focus on what really matters, this season can become not just one of surviving the heat—but thriving in it.

Rancho Sahuarita is Proud to Sponsor Upcoming JCC Maccabi Games
RANCHO Sahuarita is proud to be a presenting sponsor of this summer’s 2025 JCC Maccabi Games hosted by the Tucson Jewish Community Center (Tucson J). The Games are expected to attract more than 1,000 visitors and contribute more than $4 million in economic impact to the region.
Delegations of athletes will come to Tucson from across the U.S. and international locations. The Games have a history spanning more than 40 years, and are hosted in cities around the world, with two selected each year in the U.S. This year’s Games in Tucson mark 25 years since our community last hosted this event.
The weeklong Games will showcase an Olympic-style sports competition for teens, including Maccabi Access for athletes with intellectual and developmental disabilities. Another important component will include youth development and community-building to promote teamwork, leadership, and lifelong friendships. Hundreds of coaches, delegation heads and spectators from around the country and the world will come to Tucson to compete in multiple venues across the city.
The Tucson delegation includes:
• 70 athletes, making it Tucson’s largest Maccabi delegation in a quarter century
• 3 local Access participants and 4 teens from Moldova joining us as part of our team
• 63 first-time Maccabi athletes
• 7 returning athletes from last year’s Games

in Detroit.
This is a huge regional undertaking that includes people of all faiths and community support is welcomed. There will be a significant need for local volunteers to put on the Games, including coaching, logistics, and families to host the exceptional young athletes.
In addition, contributions are valued at any

level, and donations to support this important event are greatly appreciated.

TFC Tucson and Rancho Sahuarita Team Up to Make a Difference in Southern Arizona
HIS summer, FC Tucson and Rancho Sahuarita came together to prove that soccer can be more than just a game, but also an opportunity to give back to the community. Aligned in their passion for the Southern Arizona area and its residents, the two organizations partnered to bring fans together for a series of exciting matches at Kino Stadium, all while making a tangible impact for a worthy cause.
The partnership kicked off with three exciting matches this season, where fans had the chance to participate in a toy drive to benefit Diamond Children’s Medical Center, helping to bring joy and comfort to young patients. As a special feature, a plush toy toss took place during halftime, giving fans the chance to actively engage in the spirit of giving while enjoying the action on the field. As a result, over 100 plush

toys have been collected to benefit Diamond Children’s Medical Center.
“Partnering with Rancho Sahuarita has been a natural fit for us,” said Jon Pearlman, Founder and President of FC Tucson. “We share a strong commitment to community and creating meaningful experiences for families throughout Southern Arizona. This partnership allows us to extend our reach and impact in a way that goes beyond soccer, and we’re proud to join forces with Rancho Sahuarita to support such a vital cause.”
As of the end of June, FC Tucson is currently leading the Southwest division with a 5-0-1 record and fresh off their USL2 Western Conference Championship victory, is enjoying an incredible season. The club's attendance has seen a yearover-year increase, with the first home match of the season bringing in the second-highest home opener crowd in the club’s 15-year history. As the team continues to make waves on the field, they are also making a difference off it.

For Rancho Sahuarita, this partnership is another example of its long-standing commitment to giving back to the community. “At Rancho Sahuarita, we believe in creating vibrant, connected communities where people thrive, not only through great homes and amenities, but also connecting over causes that make a difference," said Courtney Leon, Vice President of Marketing for Rancho Sahuarita. “Working with FC Tucson on this initiative is a perfect example of how we bring our mission to life, helping to enrich the lives of those who call our region home and support local organizations that make a real difference.”
As FC Tucson continues to build on its success this season, the club’s collaboration with Rancho Sahuarita promises to leave a lasting impact on the community, proving that the power of sport extends far beyond the game.

Savoring the Slow Season
JULY in Southern Arizona invites a different pace of living. The sun climbs high and lingers long, casting golden light across the mesquite and cactus-dotted landscape. Afternoons stretch out in a quiet lull, interrupted only by the whir of ceiling fans or the gentle splash of water at the neighborhood pool. It’s a time of both stillness and subtle anticipation—a season for slowing down, staying cool, and appreciating the unique rhythms of desert summer.
The month begins with patriotic celebration as Sahuarita gathers for Independence Day festivities. Families fill local parks for food, music, and fireworks that light up the wide, open sky. The 4th of July serves as a reminder of community bonds and shared traditions, offering a joyful start to a month known for its heat, light, and promise.
Early mornings in July are among the most peaceful moments of the year. With cooler air and soft dawn light, residents walk shaded trails, tend to gardens, or sip coffee on the patio before the day begins in earnest. Birds call from mesquite branches and hummingbirds dart between blooming desert willows, adding gentle motion to the quiet hours.
As the month progresses, the desert begins its slow shift toward the monsoon season. Signs are subtle at first—towering cumulus clouds on the horizon, the electric buzz of cicadas, the smell of sun-warmed creosote. Then, in a single afternoon, the sky may open with dramatic force. Thunder echoes across the Santa Ritas, rain falls in brief, cooling bursts, and the earth seems to breathe a sigh of relief. In this way,

July bridges the dry season and the rainy one, holding space for both.
Indoors, July offers a chance to reconnect and recharge. Many families take trips or welcome guests, while others stay close to home, savoring slower routines. It’s the perfect month for reading, journaling, organizing family photos, or experimenting in the kitchen with no-cook meals and icy treats. Porch swings and hammocks become sanctuaries in the shade, offering a front-row seat to summer’s subtle beauty.
Nature, too, leans into rest. Desert animals shift their activity to dusk and dawn. Toads begin to
emerge from hibernation in search of seasonal rain. Cacti conserve their energy, while vines and shrubs respond quickly to even a single summer storm.
Through it all, Sahuarita remains grounded in its connection to place. July may not be the most comfortable month weather-wise, but it’s one of the most poetic—asking us to pay attention, to move deliberately, and to appreciate the way the land prepares itself for change.
So take a deep breath this July. Soak in the warmth, notice the light, and trust that—just like the desert—you, too, are designed to thrive through every season.
