What were you thinking? Flying High Thanks to John Biddiss for the following information. A batsman loses his grip on the bat when playing a shot and the ball hits the airborne bat. The ball flies to a fielder and is fairly caught and there was an appeal. As the umpire, what is your decision, out or not out and why? This reportedly happened in a Para Districts Cricket Association game a few weeks ago. Discussion among some of the PDCA Umpires afterwards was split between “Out” and “Not-out”. What would you have done in this instance?
