PIMPDLOZI, A SANGOMA WITH ALL OF THE TRIMMINGS.
In our modern Sangoma era with the likes of Thandukuthula Khambule, affectionately known as ‘Pimpdlozi’ Makhosi Khambule is not your ordinary sangoma, the PMB-born sangoma is changing the narrative of African spirituality and also bringing much-needed answers to society on the topic of African spirituality.
With a technical background of civil engineering and technical training, how did we get the now flamboyant Pimpdlozi?

Becoming PimpDlozi
The gift of ubungoma started showing itself from a young age Coming from a ‘born-again Christian background with well-grounded and traditional family. The prophetic gift unveiled itself as a youth minister at church It would continue to become more prevalent over time as he grew up into adulthood, where he experienced vivid dreams and visions It was not an easy calling to accept
The calling to be isangoma was clear and he went into initiation school in 2015 In the beginning it was hard to accept and he was in denial, rejecting anything to do with ancestors. Once he experienced for himself and find his truth, “I found that I have more in me than what I thought myself capable of. I had to let go and give in fully” he confesses. As a sangoma, he faced many challenges but today he says, “Ubungoma made me who I am today and I will forever be grateful. I have a very interesting and vibrant lifestyle that is very different from an average or ‘normal’ traditional healer”
Killing the stereotypes
In 2016 Post his initiation of becoming a traditional healer, he chose to live the life of his dreamsIn many instances, being a healer is often associated with being old, and this is simply not true. Regardless of age, being a healer is a gift that people are born with Life as a healer can be chaotic, but satisfaction comes from knowing that you have helped someone
Ubungoma has been framed as an unclean profession with old people who are dirty or evil Pimpdlozi is determined to kill that stereotype. As a true fashionista who enjoys the finer things in life and elite fragrances, he always smells divine Indeed, he refuses to conform and we love to see it.

I’ve made headlines in different media platforms (NEWSPAPERS, RADIO Interviews, SABC 1 Intrapreneurs (featured) through hosting upmarket events and creating awareness. I have received awards of recognition and appreciation from different organisations all over South Africa.

Being a Radio Contributor on Vuma FM from 2019-2023 was my biggest achievement in life because ever since I became a sangoma I’ve always wanted to educate and enlighten the youth about African Spirituality and Healing (UMSAMO).

Though he practices his traditional healing business, he is also a versatile entrepreneur with a variety of service offerings under his brand
‘Pimpdlozi Khambule PTY (LTD)’ he does: graphic designing, events planning & management, brand ambassador for established brands and companies, catering services, RedPaste by Pimpdlozi (a homemade chilli paste that is very popular ekasi) Khambule Properties where I invest in residential property by leasing them out to the public.

Lessons along the way
Prejudice
As a born-again Christian turned Sangoma, Makhosi Khambule faced many prejudices “I was judged for my choices by my community. I have been called a witch by the community and family members I have been challenged by my colleagues, who believe I am fake”. This has not been an easy calling. However, that doesn’t stop our fave Makhosi from being the kind-hearted person and healer he was called for.
Healing People
My everyday life as a healer is emotionally draining, because of existing in between two worlds, but I still manage to juggle my “normal” life too. I am able to control the spiritual world, as well as my natural life I can determine when it is time to work, but I also have time to myself. I am disciplined and able to control myself,

Advice for the up and coming
Know your story, never try to be someone else, have a vision and be goal oriented. This journey is not easy at all; Its survival of the fittest You will be called names and that shouldn’t distract you from achieving your goals.
The clients of Makhosi Khambule are truly a mixed bag, however, people need spiritual guidance, healing and direction in their lives, businesses and relationships. “I deal with different kinds of people, from businesspeople and executives to ordinary people, especially those from outside my town who are my biggest clients,” he says. The clientele ranges from ‘white’ clients to ‘premium’ clients –there are five levels of clients, with the premium being the highest. “I work with all races, ages and genders Dealing with clients remains the same on many levels when compared to the past What differs in modern times are the communication options we have and I am also working on modernised techniques that will change the way we do consultations.
What is next for Makhosi Khambule?
He aims to increase his reach and win more souls through radio and tv (UMSAMO). His other business interests will also expand and grow, a lot of things in the pipeline.
