In this class, students will explore firsthand accounts of survival, resilience, and the human spirit, gaining profound insights into the historical impact of the Holocaust. Through the lens of these stories, participants will deepen their understanding of this dark chapter in history, while reflecting on its lasting influence on individuals and society
Megan Ferenczy is the Director of Education at the Virginia Holocaust Museum She attended the University at Buffalo and graduated with a bachelor’s degree in history and a minor in Education. She has taken coursework in Museum Studies and was also certified to teach middle and high school History in New York and Virginia. Before she began working at the Museum, Megan taught US History for two years with Richmond Public Schools. 2025 is Megan’s 12th year at the Museum When teaching the history of the Holocaust, she makes it a priority to remember and honor the victims Being able to work with Holocaust survivors has been an invaluable and life enriching opportunity and what she says is one of the best parts of her job. She lives in Bon Air with her husband and 9-year-old daughter and 4-year-old son.

Kelly Hancock, serves as the American Civil War Museum’s Public Programs Manager supporting the work of the Edward L Ayers Center for Civil War and Emancipation Studies She initiates the research, development, and implementation of public programs for adult audiences both on- and off-site, overseeing the Museum’s annual Symposium, Book Talks, History Happy Hours, and other community focused events.

By educating and inspiring individuals of all ages, the NWHM seeks to shine a light on the incredible contributions women have made to society, culture, and various fields, from politics and science to the arts and beyond. The museum offers a wide range of virtual programs, educational resources, and events that celebrate the lives of trailblazing women, providing a platform for reflection and learning about gender equality and empowerment Through its engaging initiatives, the NWHM strives to promote awareness of women's history and ensure their achievements are acknowledged and celebrated for generations to come.

Josh Urban is a speaker, musician, disc jockey, and musicologist. He's hosted radio and podcast programs, played and taught guitar professionally for nearly twenty years, and is an enthusiastic collector of recordings from around the world.

Richelle Kaufman is a graduate of the Pennsylvania Academy of Fine Arts, located in Philadelphia, PA, where she received a BFA in a combined program with the University of Pennsylvania Her studies included Classical drawing and painting in the European tradition as well as sculpture and intensive study of Art History. She was the student of Nelson Shanks, who is known for his portraits of Princess Diana, Margaret Thatcher, Luciano Pavarotti, and Pope John Paull II, as well as several United States Presidents
